PC S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl

this game is awesome. my friend showed me it, i loved it, and then i bought it a few months later
its a post-nuclear apocalypse set after a second nuclear meltdown at chernobyl, this time with much more devastating results. vast quantities of mutants, nuclear storms are all commonplace in the game

Yeah it is a pretty awesome game, apparetnly the new one S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear Skies is meant to be far better, it's 2 year before SoC and the design team have actually been to Chernobyl and taken sketches and what not of the area and actually made the new game look like it.

I haven't played it yet but i'm planning on playing it real soon.

This game scares the shit out of me. Things come out of nowhere and... agh. And the noise the Controllers make really hurts my ears. I still like to watch other people play it, though.
