put a spoiler tag at the start of this thread as itll be a discussion about RE5's adaption of the mercanaries mode....

First things first, who is your favorite Solo character/Duo for each stage and your favorite overall mercanaries character!

Heres mine:

Public Assembly.
Solo: BSAA Jill
Duo: BSAA Jill/ Midnight Wesker

Mines.
Solo: S.T.A.R.S Wesker
Duo: BSAA Jill/ S.T.A.R.S Chris (those 2 rocket launchers come in handy for clearing out those pesky reapers)

Village.

Solo: Midnight Wesker
Duo: Battlesuit Jill/ Midnight Wesker

Ancient Ruins.

Solo: Battlesuit Jill (some prime sniping positions on this map right next to combo multipliers making the PSG-1 a points wracking whore)
Duo: Battlesuit Jill/ BSAA Jill (BSAA Jill's Flash grenades come in handy with the frequency of parasites, and slowing down Giant Manjini's for Battlesuit Jill to finish off with the rifle)

Experimental Facility.

Solo: BSAA Jill (she totally dominates on this map and her mp5 totally annihilates lickers)
Duo: BSAA Jill/ Midnight Wesker (two words....bullet penetration)

Missle Area.

Solo: Wesker S.T.A.R.S (the L.Hawk dominates the chaingunner bosses)

Duo: Wesker S.T.A.R.S/Battlesuit Jill (excellent crowd control from Weskers Hydra shotgun, and long range boss killing from Jill's PSG-1)

Ship Deck.

Solo: Wesker Midnight (the frequency of the annoying chainsaw bosses stand no chance against Weskers S&W 550)

Duo: Wesker Midnight/ BSAA Jill (Jill's Px4 handgun is awesome for setting up Weskers cobra strike, not to mention it can often 1 hit kill, and Wesker can easily deal with the chainsaw bosses)

Prison.

Solo: S.T.A.R.S Wesker (his immense firepower is needed against the Red Manjini bosses)
Duo: S.T.A.R.S Wesker/Battlesuit Jill (Jill picks em off...Wesker knocks em down)

As you can probably tell, I definatley prefer using Jill and Wesker, because there utility and gear seems to be more balanced and strategically built than Chris and Sheva's (although S.T.A.R.S Chris can pack a hell of a punch with nitrogen rounds in his grenade launcher, and Tribal Sheva's unlimited longbow is....extremely overpowered, Wesker and Jill just seem that much more fun to play)

So heres my top 3 mercenaries:

3: Midnight Wesker
2: Battlesuit Jill
1: BSAA Jill

Now, although BSAA Jill lacks the heavy punch of weskers magnum or the range of Battlesuit's PSG-1, she makes up for it in probably the most balanced loadout, having excellent penetration and crowd control with the mp5, instant parasite killing flash grenades, and quite possibly the best handgun in the entire game!

To add: Heres hoping they add more characters and stages as downloadable content, I'm personally praying for Claire and Barry, Claire's Bowgun and Barry's custom Samurai Edge would be hella cool to play around with xD

I'll post up scores later if I remember but I go with BSAA Jill pretty much all the time, mostly becuase I haven't unlocked Battle Suit Jill or STARS Wesker but also because using the MP5 to set up constant double knee press kills is so much fun.

I was a bit disappointed with the extra characters with them all being vartions of the same 4 people. Some Leon, Ada and/or Barry would have been nice. Also no HUNK is unforgiveable.

I was massively suprised that HUNK wasnt in it too, also you should try shooting em in the kneecaps with the pistol and running behind them for Jill's mounted Neck Breaker ^^....also Jill's Px4 pistol is stupidly good at taking down normal manjini's with a single headshot (highest critical rating in the game weighing in at a mighty 86.44%) and dealing hefty damage to bosses....as long as you aim for the head ^^

a lot of BSAA Jill's weaknesses are rectified when you pick up Battlesuit Jill, since Battlesuit Jill drops the pistol for a PSG-1 sniper rifle (comparable power to a mid-upgraded L.Hawk) and carries the Zx6 smg (which has a massive clip of 300 rounds)

you'll find that BSAA Jill is excellent at some maps, weak at others and Battlesuit Jill is strong at the maps BSAA Jill is weak at, shes also by far the best combo wracker as she has the best zoom on her sniper rifle allowing her to kill manjini's across the map to keep that combo meter alive and ticking ^^

Personally I love either loadout, I think Jill is easily the most fun merc's character to play (awesome melee moves, and well balanced gear) but eventually you'll end up doing what every player that wants to get the SS ranks nailed does.....

Run around with the overpowered STARS Wesker....or melee farm with Midnight Wesker....imho capcom need to send a patch out to those that play live and possibly "make a few changes" to Wesker's loadouts as at this current time....you havent a chance of getting in the top 500 unless you use a Wesker.

Broke the 100k mark today on ship with STARS Wesker, 117092 (The Chainsaw Majini's stand no chance against the Hydra and L.Hawk making for easy high scoring due to the high frequency of them), also made SS rank on prison....so 6 SS ranks to STARS Wesker 1 SS rank to Jill (Battlesuit)

just one more map to obtain SS rank on, and its by far my most hated map....missle launch facility >< too big and dull to be any fun solo :/

I'll upload the scores sometime tomorrow....It is a scary notion that I've managed to get a score that would make the top 500 soloists (if it wasnt for the melee Wesker abusers) reckon I need to put it down for a bit :P
