Just wanted to make a quick request/suggestion to any moderators that may be in a position to move or merge threads. Would you be willing to make it standard policy to put about a week's worth of "thread forward" on a topic. I'd also like to be notified via PM if I'm the thread maker, if at all possible.

I know there have been a couple instances where I've gone to look for threads that were made recently and I haven't been able to find them at all. I literally have to run a site-wide search for the thread... and if I don't remember the exact topic title it's a real pain to find. I know there have also been times when I've personally made a thread in an area I felt appropriate but later have found it moved to some other location without ever receiving notification in any form.

I know each moderator has their own policy on how to do this but I really think its something that needs to be implemented more and sort of unified across the entire staff. It's not the worst thing in the world because a lot of members do a good job posting threads in the correct area but it is an issue. I know 24 hr link forwards are popular with some moderators but I really don't think that's enough time, especially if you're not someone who views the forums every day. It's really something that should be left up for at least 3-4 days minimum. I don't think a week long link forward would really clutter the site either, that's why I picked that number but it is completely a staff decision.

Again, I'm not singling anyone out and I certainly don't think any moderator is doing a bad job with this. I'd just like to see it done more often and with some more consistency.

Honestly, if a moderator posts this in HQ as a subject that will be discussed and addressed seriously, I have no problem with this thread being closed as soon as that promise is made. I'm not really sure how much input regular members, or even myself, need to add beyond this point. If a mod promises to discuss it in the HQ with intent to find a reasonable solution, that's enough for me.

Thanks!!!

Most of the time I tend to undo these redo's, seeing as most of the time they are left there for ages and noone removes them. And when I do this, it's mainly in the FF area which don't really need the redirect/forward thingy there. It's something I aim to keep doing anyway tbh.

If you're stuck for finding a thread you made, you can check the threads you started link in your profile. Probably makes things somewhat easier, unless you're a thread making whore.
