I think it would be a cool idea to add a karma/reputation system to the forum- not only does it promote good posts, it's a lot of fun (and competitive ;)). If you don't know what that is, it's a number next to your posts that other members can increase or decrease based on what they thought of a particular post of yours, and they have to give a reason for it. The reasons can either be displayed under the posts (better) or kept hidden in the users control panels.

So, what do you think?

I like it when everybody can read the comments. Some reputation setups do not have it setup so you can read the comments. It adds to the whole thing.

I quite like this idea. If the members play nicely with it, then it can be quite constructive. If, however, you get someone who doesn't like you, for some reason or another, it's easy to decrease their reputation vindictively.

That's why there is restrictions on the rep system- for example, you cant rep someone more than once a day, and you cant rep someone without repping, say, a dozen other people first.

I do like this idea, but like Adamant said i think there should be some restrictions to it.

I'll agree with Riku on this one. While I feel it can be fun, competitve and the like, I also feel we should have restrictions limited on it. Like if one member doesn't like another and degrades them by lowering their rep just for the simple fact of dislike then something should be done in regards to that. Otherwise, I think it's a splendid idea ^_^

Darkblade and I both agreed that a reputation system is pretty much pointless and not particularly suited for a forum such as these.

Abuse can and will most likely happen, and as for the "fun factor" of it, the RPG will prove to be a much better alternative.
