Reorganisation of the FF sections

Good point. I suggest after the changes that we proceed to eliminate such dumbarses, The FFF Holocaust anyone?, to cleanese this forum of such filth. :D
 
A mass-pruning would be fun to behold, expunging the foolish, destroying the fanboys, purging the weak, shattering the hopeful and eradicating the plain stupid. All for the good of the forum of course.

Back onto the topic though, we've voted for change at a ratio of 4:1 so we're in mass agreement that change should come but will it actually happen?

I will try to get him to post a.s.a.p, but he has promised himself, to come here when he can.
 
I think, and many people will agree, that the entire forum needs reorganising and not just the sections about Final Fantasy.

I've noticed ALOT of either barely used sections with very few threads and replys, or sections just completly not used at all. Surely these can be deleted and whatever discussion that should take place there could easily be done in another to save space and confusion.

They said re-organise to make it easier, not turn the forum into a Labyrinth of unread threads :P
 
All I can suggest guys if Darkblade isn't coming to this thread, for any reason, PM him, and hopefully it'll do the trick. Just explain your thoughts on the matter to him. I'm sure he'll understand.
 
I have had a talk with Darkblade about this matter, and he says he'll get to it soon enough.

All he requires is you guys to be patient and keep an open mind on whatever the answer he will come up with.
So be patient, alright? ;)
 
If he had told me that first, then I'd be fine with it. But he kept promising to post and then not, Slasher.
 
As far as I'm concerned, Darkblade's answer is to integrate a new function called "favorites" so that you can choose which forums you want to check on a regular basis and so that you only have to look through a smaller list of forums that you actually frequent, so that you only have to look through the list once.

But seeing that you guys already have a different solution that's much easier to implement, I don't think we should be wasting our time on new functions if it's not necessary. Unfortunately, I myself don't really know how to reorganize the forums so that it will reduce the scrolling, and I don't have any suggestions, but since there have already been plenty of other suggestions from the members, I would like to see that being discussed in the staff so that we will agree on how the forums will be reorganized. As for those who don't want the forum to be reorganized because you can't get used to it, getting used to a forum that's been reorganized and that's had scrolling reduced significantly is going to be much easier to adapt to.

I know I can't speak for Darkblade, but I would like to see the forums reorganized because massive scrolling is not healthy for the forum or your eyes.
 
I really like Moonchild's and Riku's idea on this. I don't like the "favorites" idea that Darkblade has in mind. I think it'd be nicer if we could just organize it, that way, as you stated Sephiroth, there won't be any massive scrolling and it won't be painful on the eyes or bad on the forum. I just like the idea of a well, organized forum with the subforums in their proper sections. Things just need to be merged together so the place isn't so spread out and people don't get lost as much. That's just my two-cents. ^_^
 
The only idea that would have proven confusing was Darkblade's which sounded like utter horse manure. The vast majority who have voted or given their say have agreed that a change needs to be made and that the ideas been given are the best and easiest as well as being genuine improvements to the site for most. Stop being so scared of change.

Of course the only thing lacking is whether the staff can be arsed to actually make the relatively simple changes or not. They could make it easier if they at least keep us up to date with what they're discussing about.
 
Well, I'm sure we're discussing how to reorganize the sections because you guys have provided us with several models, and we'll need to choose one. I'm sorry this has to take so long, but I'm also hoping to get a word from Darkblade about all of this, and if he agrees with it, I'll be sure to let you know if he doesn't post here soon.
 
My only real suggestion is that we don't need multiple spam topics. One would be sufficient. THere's ones that you can post offtopic material that isn't considered spam, offtopic matierial that is consider spam, offtopic material that is considered spam but has to do with FF (actually 2 of these)... and the list goes on. I hate posting quality topics that no one ever sees because you have to scroll down 3 pages worth of material and dig through 20 subforums to find.
 
Alright, Darkblade has told me he wasn't going to be troubled with this thread, so I'll speak for him. He said he didn't want to reorganize the forum. I'm not entirely sure why; either it's because he expects people to be complaining about it earlier, or because he said he tried it before and it didn't work. I'm not sure what he meant by the latter because to my knowledge, I don't think that's happened before. If some of the older members here remember it, feel free to refresh my memory.
 
One of the first decent things I wanted to do as an admin, and it's not going to happen. It wouldn't have hurt Josh to post one simple thing, but now we know that idea is out the window, why should we have this thread open any longer hm?
