References to previous games

Ok most final fantasy games have references to the others - kinda like an easter egg so we can have a nostalga moment.

so which references have you noticed in XII? except the obvious ones - the airships being named after traditional summons

One reference i noticed is that Frans final Quickening - shatterheart - is very similar to shivas overdrive in X.

so any others youve noticed?

one of the two handed swords is called ragnarok

gilgamesh's swords are swords from the previous ff games, including tidus's caladbolg and squall's gunblade

there's a spear you can get called gugnir - gugnir is the mythological spear used by Odin in norse mythology - we see odin with this spear in ffIX


there are a few more - i'll try to remember them.

Both the crystal music and the main Final Fantasy theme returned! Oh and they have crystals back in the game.

I'm pretty sure judges were in Tactic Advance and the moogles looked the same.

Yes, I noticed that the main Final Fantasy theme returned. I love that theme, it's one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard.

I'm pretty sure there is a great sword called Save the Queen.

The duo Biggs and Wedge make an appearance although their names are mixed up and are called Gibbs and Deweg. They can be found in Nalbina.

Espers also from FFVI.

Gilgamesh with Cloud's Buster sword. I think that writing on the swords is on the lines of 'replica'.

The boss Pandemonium. Final Dungeon in FFI. A GF in FFVIII and a dungeon in FFIX (Where you meet Garland).

The boss Fenrir is a summon in FFVI, IX and XI. It is also the name to Clouds motorcycle in FFVII:AC.

The boss Garuda is a summon in FFXI and is a random encounter in various other FF titles.

A quick mythological point. Caladbolg is the Celtic (Damn, I used the 'C' word) name for Excalibur. It literally means 'Hard Lightning'. Just thought you might be interested.
