References To Other FFs

The only one I've noticed is when you defeat Biran and Yenke, and they say they'll make a statue of Summoner Yuna with a Ronso horn on her head. This, to me, would reference to Garnet and Eiko of FFIX and the summoner tribe of Madain Sari who are born with horns on their heads.

It might be completely coincidental ... but I noticed it =P

Has anyone noticed any references to other Final Fantasy games within FFX?
 
I never notice anything, it could be shoved right in my face and I'd still completely miss it. It's a nice little reference if it is though :monster:

I just need to open my eyes more <_<
 
Oh! You might be right. I'd not thought of that one.

There's an NPC in a green shirt wandering around the square in Luca trying to hit on a female Crusader monk. He gets bent out of shape because she brushes him off as a "spoony bard", a famous phrase from FFIV.

A lot of the weapons are from previous games, of course, and all the horrid CUTE THINGS have been relegated to Lulu's dolls. (I refuse to carry Cait Sith around; I always try to carry a moomba.)
 
There are always going to be references to other FF games in the series, its what makes it an FF game, although I can't actually think of one that hasn't already been said.
 
1. some guy named cid. in every single final fantasy
2. wedge and biggs where in ffVIII and possibly more.
3. onion night if i remember correctally was in final fantasy VII
4. cactuars bombs tonberries and fly eyes are traditional ff monsters
5. chocobos moombas moogles and cait siths are in other ffs
6. ifrit shiva magus sisters and bahamut have been in other ffs, some of them took different forms.
7. the main character is a guy with a sword
thats all i can think of for now.

I cant belive nobody has mentioned lulu being able to use cait sith as a weapon. Come on that was a completley obviouse refrence right there
 
This should be a more general thread rather than for just FFX, since most people are talking generally here.

But well spotted Grand Lethal! Theres lots of little references in FF games here and there. Its what keeps the game together...

FF9 I think had Clouds sword in a weapons store in Lindblum, hanging on the wall...

Also... I'd mention Gilgamesh too, he keeps popping up.. He's quite often the same character though, or at least thats the theory (that he's a void traveller) so probably more than just a reference where he is concerned.. Hey! Perhaps he even left the Buster Sword in the Limdblum store!
