Is anyone else excited about this? Apparently, Hideaki Anno (creater of NGE in case nobody knew) said that he is releasing a quadralogy (not sure if thats the correct term or not) of new Evangelion movies that make up "Rebuild of Evangelion". Four movies, the first three are supposed to be a re-telling of the series shown from different perspectives and with additional scenes, some new characters, settings, and other additional footage that never made it into the original series. And the fourth movie will be yet another alternate ending to help shed some light on what it all meant. They will also be using some CGI in the movies too, though how much is unkown at this time.

I think it would be interesting to see them try to make the entire thing in CGI, that would look really cool, especially if they could make it as well as they did Advent Children.

But anyway, apparently Hideaki Anno hopes that this will help fans understand the conclusion of the story better then End of Evangelion did, even though this was his purpose of making End of Evangelion, some people were still unsatisfied with that ending and felt that it answered nothing, so he's making another attempt at it.

Personally I would prefer that they don't bother with it, EoE didn't have the best ending ever but I don't like the thought of yet another ending. And a solid no to using CGI in large doses, hate it for the life of me and even more when used in animes.

I remember reading about this in an anime magazine. I'm interested to see how it turns out.

The thing is, I think one of the reasons why Evangelion doesn't seem so well received is the lack of definite closure in both the series ending and movie End of Evangelion. Indeed, both had nearly incomprehensible endings, but End of Evangelion took the cake in most disturbing and controversial. I think this project would work well in that it could help people understand the series a bit more.
