Do you choose the sword or the Esper?

I'm actually undecided at the moment, I'l edit in my decision as soon as I decide

I'm leaning towards the sword because i'm not a big magic user, but I really wanna see what said magic is and what the esper looks like

Decisions decisions......

I think I took the esper. I don't remember what spells it taught...might have been Ultima...does the sword do anything special, or is it just extremely powerful?

I chose the esper just to get the spell ultima. It made the final battle and all the other battles quite easy.

(I didn't use the one hit kill method)

There are better swords...And you can use the Summon to get some nifty things as well...I think the best thing you can do w/the sword is trade it for the Illumina in the Colosseum.

Oh, and it teaches Flare, not Ultima. The sword still teaches Flare, but only to those that can equip it (which isn't that bad, I guess)...

The Esper is pretty lame, its a sword that comes down from above and morphs enemies into items. Theres not many decent items to get and even then you can still get them else where. I chose the weapon, that way I can get the Illumina sword. If I want Ultima I change the Cursed Shield into the Paladin Shield which is the only other thing that teaches Ultima. Pain in the arse to do mind.
