Quina: Male Or Female?

In the game (at least in the version I have played), Quina always was referred to as "He/She". So... WTF?

Is He/She a male or a female? Was it only in my version?

At the beginning I thought He/She a male. But at some points, He/She somehow was more similar to female. So I got totally confused...
