Hi everyone!

I'm a long time fan of FF7. I played it a dusin times back in the day and started playing again a couple of weeks ago. I used to play the PS1 version, also on PS2 with the smooth-effect which worked really well back then. Now I play the PS Network version which is like the original version not in HD. I would like to try out the PC version with mods maybe.

I saw a video of the steam version with and without mods. It seems as if the resolution is HD on both the normal version and with mods, right? Or at least better than the PS version:

The next video uses some different mods with more detailed enemies, which is really cool. Cloud and the others seems about the same as the steam mod:

What I would like to know is, is it better to get the new Steam version or an other PC version and what's the difference?

Is it easy to choose what mods to apply or does it come as a package? Some things I like: ground, bulding, enemy and landscape textures, transparent/altered status bar during fights, altered text boxes, updated magic effects. Things I don't like: change in soundtrack, change in sound effects, altered avatar pictures, change in main characters.

I don't know anything about how mods work so if I could get some advice on what to download and so on. That would be a really big help. I'm sorry if this has been asked before.

Thanks a lot in advance :-)

he game isn't supported by steam workshop so i'd assume the application of mods involves messing about with the files of the game which is risky altogether. Atleast with steam, if worst comes to worse it's not much of a pain in the ass to delete the game and re-install if something goes wrong but I imagine both the steam version and the standalone pc version are easily modifiable with sufficient knowhow.
