Questions about FFXI

[Divine Dragoon]

Which job is the best melee damage-dealer in the game ( end-game)?
Is Dark Knight better than Dragoon?
Also which starting place do you recommend?

Getting FFXI for summer holiday, and that's 3 days from now, so... I'd really appreciate if someone could guide me

Well i'm not that far into the game, but if you want the best damage dealer from the start the best is the Monk. I started with San'Odria, not started with any of the others but I do know there not as popular so it's not as active as you'd like it to be.

From what people said in the game a Dark knight is one of the worse jobs you can use apparently...
