Hi best friends, I have a couple questions about Yu Yevon/Sin/final aeon/other fun stuff.. hopefully im posting in the right place too

Im pretty dumb so i'll explain what i know, then ask my questions.. please dont mind the giant wall of text :(

1000 years ago there was a war between the machina city zanarkand just beyond the peaks of mount gagazet and the machina city bevelle. Bevelle was a city that focused heavily on machina, particularly war machina. Zanarkand on the other hand, was a city that focused on both magic (summoners) and machina, mostly keeping to themselves.

The summoner's magic rellied on the Fayth (People that willingly sacrifice themselves into an eternal sleep, dreaming. Pyreflies are able to make their dreams real as long as the Fayth is dreaming, whether that be an entire populated city or an aeon)

Paranoid, Bevelle waged war on Zanarkand and their own machina far outmatched Zanarkand's. Even with summoners, Zanarkand couldnt keep up with Bevelle's machina and numbers (I think Bevelle's popular was far greater than Zanarkand's)

Yu Yevon, the leader of Zanarkand and a summoner, saw no other option than to convert the populace into Fayth, and had them dream of a new Zanarkand. The only difference between the two Zanarkands, was the location and the fact that it was a dream of the fayth.

The new Zanarkand was not just beyond Mount Gagazet, it was far off into the ocean, covered in a fog. And not just creating a new Zanarkand, Yu Yevon also created a weapon he could control to protect it; Sin. It had 2 jobs, protect Zanarkand and destroy any city that grew too big focusing on machina.

However, upon creating his weapon, his mind shattered (Because he dreamed too much or something) Sin was, according to wikipedia, "an armor made of pyreflies" Sin destroyed the original Zanarkand, leaving it in ruins.

The soldiers upon reaching the peak of mount gagazet discovered Zanarkand in ruins(Sin destroyed it but they had no sight of Sin yet), and heard the Hymn of the Fayth.. They ran back in fear.. Then the crazy motherfriggen sin started going around attacking cities, while defending Dream Zanarkand..

1000 years later, which is when FFX starts, Zanarkand still remains untouched because Sin destroys anything that comes near it. Everyone in Zanarkand is oblivious to both Sin, and spira; believing themselves to be the only life surrounded by the ocean??

When Sin attacks, Tidus lands up in Baaj Temple which is fairly close to dream Zanarkand.. Which is why when the Al Bhed discover him, they start getting too close to Sin, who prevents them from getting any closer to Zanarkand. (Tidus lives yet again and ends up in Besaid this time, which is even further from Zanarkand than baaj temple)

Jecht got into spira because he was out training out to sea and he is such a beast that when Sin came to crush anything leaving or entering Dream Zanarkand, he managed to live, washed upon shore.(I assume) Any one other than the Star player of the Zanarkand Abes wouldnt have been able to survive im sure.

Am I wrong with anything written above?

What did Yu Yevon posses when he made Sin?(He needs to possess an aeon within sin to control is or something right?)

How did he make Sin? (Wikipedia says he gathered a mass of Pyreflies, but I dont understand...)

Why did Sin attack Dream Zanarkand 1000 years later? I think most people assume Jecht had something to do with it, which makes me unsure how much control Jecht had over Sin.

**What is the 'final summoning'?? Like what makes it any different from any other summon, I guess this what I dont understand, and its why I dont understand any of the other questions. I dont get why the final summoning can pierce Yu Yevon's armor (Sin) and no other Aeon can.. The only reason I can think of is because the final aeon's fayth shares a special bond with the summoner before it was a fayth.**

I dont really completely understand the whole 'pyrefly' thing.. I think wikipedia said something about pyreflies living in EVERYTHING, including Sin.. Yet you see places like the original Zanarkand and Guadosalam, just filled with these flying green things which are appearntly pyreflies...

Why cant the fayth just stop dreaming? They need to kill Yu Yevon first? I think that was explained after you reach the peak of mount gagazet, but it was confusing then cause I had absolutely no idea wtf was going on.

Where did the Hymn of fayth come from when Bevelle marched up to the ruins of Zanarkand? I understand thats what people sang (had something to do with blitzball), but how were they able to sing it when they were fayth?

Yunalesca was Yu Yevon's daughter, how did she end up in Spira? Wouldn't she have become a Fayth?

Some very interesting questions! :D SPOILERS AHEAD!

Some quotations from wikipedia suggest that Yu Yevon controls Sin more than Jecht...
"Tidus: We fight Yu Yevon.
Fayth: Yes. If you defeat Yu Yevon, it will end. Tell me, what do you know about Yu Yevon?
Tidus: He's what makes Sin come back!
Yuna: Sin is his armor. It protects him.
Fayth: Yu Yevon was once a summoner, long ago. He was peerless. Yet now he lives for one purpose: only to summon. [...] Even if you defeat Sin with the Final Summoning, Yu Yevon will live. Yu Yevon will join with the Final Aeon. He will transform it into a new Sin.
Yuna: Yu Yevon merges with the aeon...
Fayth: Then, protected by this new Sin he has created, Yu Yevon continues the summoning.
Having said that, one could argue that Jecht is able to combat against Yu Yevon's power. Jecht seems to be fully conscious when you meet him towards the end of the game. His weariness implies he's been keeping Sin in check for a while. He hasn't had full control, but he's perhaps made the creature a little more mellow.

I believe Jecht is the reason Sin invades Dream Zanarkand. According to http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Sin, Jecht collects Tidus from Zanarkand because he wants his son to free him of his fate. As he terrorizes the world, he feels tormented and guilty.

Sin certainly does attack cities and villages which contain strong machina, which is strange - Bevelle is FULL of it! Sin attacks these cities because, soon before his death, Yu Yevon gave Sin a set of intructions: to detroy any machina and to bring technical evolution to a halt. He wanted the memory of Zanarkand to live on forever. I suppose you could liken Sin to a computer - he's been built for a specific purpose and works according to a program.

Yu Yevon himself is now a mere paraside who resides within Sin. He's no longer human. He lives a half life, unable to break out of the vicious cycle in which he draws the Final Aeon of each summoner towards him and combines with it to recreate Sin.

These links are very handy:
http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Yu_Yevon
http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Sin

The pages certainly do say that Yu Yevon built Sin from pyreflies... I believe these creatures/spirits are meant to be accepted as a natural phenemenon in Final Fantasy X, just as much as cats, dogs and leaves are accepted in our own world. It's fantasy,so the writers can do anything! :)

The Final Aeon is special because, unlike regular Aeons, it can pierce Sin's armour. There are two potential reasons for this. 1) The bond between summoner and guardian calms Sin and causes him to grow weaker. 2) Yunalesca gives the Final Aeon that power; her father informed of Sin and told her what could calm it.

I think the Jecht prevents the Fayth from ending their dream. As Sin, he is part of the real world...a paradox of sorts, if I dare use the word! :lew: The fayth can't end their dream whilst Jecht is Sin.
