Is there anything special you need to do to get Excalibur and the really powerful weapons? I havent cleared the game yet but I do have access to an airship if that helps.

eh, please indulge me as well, i'm in the great crystal and cant' find the damn Excalibur. If they don't want spoilage, just warn them possible spoilers in your reply title.

I can't give an exact location because the great crystal is confusing but the excalibur is in a chest (looks like a gem) in the middle of a platform
You'll know it be cause there is one of those horse enemies down there and 2 more will come once you try to take the item
Make sure you have diamond armlet on to increase chances and if you get the chest and gil is in there and the chest still stays - take the item inside and it will be excalibur
