Help Question about the game.

I've had FFVII on psx for a long time now but never actually completed it. I've recently started playing through it again and am at Yuffie's optional quests in Wutai. After finishing the main story/quest, are you able to free roam around the world?

In other words can I do the optional quests after completing the main quest?

Any replies are welcome, thanks.
 
No, you have to do the optional quests before completing the game. Once you get to Sephiroth at the end and defeat him, that's it.

I think the last location you go to is the Northern Crater, so before you have to head there on CD3 that will be your last chance I believe to tie up any side quest loose ends.
 
When you go past the save points near the bottom of the crater is the Point of No Return methinks
 
Theres no save points in the crater bar that one you can place where you want. Which Id stick at the bottom anyway. The point of no return is when youve got to the bottom and everyone is gathered there before moving on. So long as you save there.....or at the very least dont go past that point you can come and go from the crater as you please

Ok, thanks for all of your help. I have one more question, are there any optional quests that are disc specific? Or any optional quests that have to be completed before moving on to disc 2 or 3?

Your free to roam the world on disk three. Also on disk three if you decide to NOT head down the northern crator theres chocobo breeding and other side quests present. Theres no new game plus or extra dungeons after the game.

The Point of no return is when all your characters are together at the northern crator. After you split them up and meet them again. So when you see them thats where you should put your save point.

Learning Aeris "great gospel" limit break, Fort Condor, those are some you can do before moving on to disk two.

Visiting some cave with Vincent, Mideel Cursed ring, are some to do before leaving disk two.

All other guests (I may have missed some) can be done on disk three.
