Quck question about FF8

I just got to the part on disk 2 where Balamb Garden and Galbadia Garden attack each other, but I'm a little confused. Zell gets the ring from Squall and then gives it to Rinoa, yet I haven't seen the part yet when she asks him to do so. I've obviously missed something..

So when does Rinoa ask Zell to get the ring?
