Ah this is excellent news, I was just thinking about Heavy Rain today and how much I wanted a new game from them. I just hope they don't do what they did in Heavy Rain and their other game. Fucking the entire thing up 3/4s through, just to have a twist that doesn't even make sense

Ok apologies this thread and title is misleading. This article is more accurate:

Quantic Dream to unveil GDC tech demo tonight – details

Quantic Dream will unveil a new tech demo that will set up its next game tonight on Eurogamer.
heavy-rain-6.jpg

Studio co-founder David Cage will air the demo during an hour-long GDC session that begins at 2pm PST/10pm GMT, but the public will also get a look in on EG with insight from Cage.
The action happens from 10:30pm GMT.
The demo itself, according to Eurogamer, will be “similar in purpose” to The Casing demo the studio did six years ago. That, of course, bridged what became Heavy Rain.
Quantic’s next actual project will be tied to Sony, Cage said last year, after it backed Heavy Rain.

As far as I’m aware, it’s just a tech demo. But the tech in it will be used for its next game. Besides, The Casting – the last demo they did – was linked with Heavy Rain, so this’ll be too in all likelihood.

Quantic Dream shows incredible tech demo Kara

As promised this morning, Quantic Dream has aired a new tech demo, codenamed Kara, from GDC that will set up the foundations for its next project.

Quantic Dream unveils Kara tech demo at GDC. This looks absolutely incredible (via EG).

The demo introduces a recently-built android known as Kara as she’s assembled and checked before showing unusual behaviour and is dissembled. The video continues seeing her pleading for her life.
The tech is running in real time on a PlayStation 3, although isn’t directly taken from a project currently in development at the French developer. Rather, it’s a pointer in a similar vein to The Casting tech demo that showed us what effectively became Heavy Rain.
The demo was first shown as part of a GDC session hosted by Quantic co-founder David Cage.
You can watch it above right now, via Eurogamer.
Speaking with the site, Cage admitted that the demo, running from a completely new engine compared to the technology used for Heavy Rain, was finished a year ago. The new engine, according to Cage, only has 50% of its features right now.
“There are people doing more interesting things or different things, perhaps, but I feel we’re pretty alone in what we’re trying to explore,” he said, referring to whatever project the company does have coming next.
“What we’re trying to create is really interactive entertainment for an adult audience. We don’t pretend that we’re cleverer than anyone else – but there are so many games out there that provide limited entertainment, and we try to make something for a more mature audience.”
The next Quantic project will be exclusive to Sony.
We’ll have an interview with Cage going live tomorrow afternoon.

The tech demo was incredibly good for the most part, and has me pretty excited for the next game they end up releasing. I really like the futuristic premise, and I can't wait to see where they go with the lines between android and human. The girl had a great voice actor, the guy not so much. The dialogue was a bit choppy in parts too

They released Heavy Rain, four years after the tech demo for it. We'll probably have to wait ages for this :raye:

I saw the video yesterday and it was quite impressive. Whenever AI gets real feelings or can even think it always gets to me.

Like the movie AI with Bruce Willis.

However Kara immediately got a sense of feelings and emotions and I thought it was a bit out of place.

Or they did this on purpose and we should think about how and why she could have human traits an android shouldnt have. Right on assembling.

Perhaps someone intern or the creator has done it.

The guy decided to let her live because he was overwhelmed as well.
Anyway it was impressive indeed and who knows what their next project will be about.

Quantic Dream “open” to becoming first-party Sony studio

Quantic Dream co-founder David Cage has said the studio is “open” to becoming a first-party studio under the Sony Worldwide Studios family.
kara-2.jpg

“”We’re open to all options, but again, we’re not a studio driven by money,”Cage told IGN.
“It’s an important element, of course, but it’s not like ‘Tell me how much money you give me and I’m going to do whatever you want.’
“But what matters to us is, ‘what is the project, what is the long-term vision, do we share common vision for the studio?’ We’re really passionate, it’s not just me, there’s a team behind me that’s incredibly talented and passionate about what we’re doing, what could be the vision for the studio. And if all this makes sense, then yeah, why not joint Sony or another partner. We’re open to all options.”
Cage reiterated its long-term future, however, was with Sony for now.
“We are exclusive to Sony right now, so no, we work only on PlayStation 3.”
Cage unveiled tech demo Kara at GDC this week, giving a glimpse as to what the French studio’s next project could be. We chatted with the developer about it and more here.
There’s video of the IGN interview below.

The European PlayStation Blog posted a new interview with Quantic Dream boss David Cage following the reveal of Kara, his studio’s new tech demo for PlayStation 3, at the Game Developers Conference yesterday.

I read that the lady playing Kara had 49 motion capture sensors on her body, as well as the same amount just on her face. It was shot in just one take too, which is impressive. Though I think it could have benefited from more takes, in order to iron out some of the awkward parts. By awkward I mean clunky or ill-fitting dialogue. Not awkward as in your mother walking in just as you knock one out and getting it on her new open-toe sandals
