Which would everyone perfer me to get, an Xbox 360 or a PS3? I don't really know much about the game content on the PS3, but I heard it has better graphics than the 360....so which should I choose?

Alright. I am going to ask you a series of questions that should hopefully make the process of narrowing down what you want easier.
A) Do you currently own a PS2 or Xbox?
B) Does price matter to you?
C) How quickly do you want to get what you paid for?
D) Are you a fan of more Western or Eastern styled games?
E) Do you like Final Fantasy?
F) Do you like Halo?
A) is because since they're backwards compatible (for the most part), it might be nice to be able to play your old games.
B) is important. The PS3 is $600 and the 360 is $400. Neither looks like they are going to have a price drop coming anytime soon. No price drop for Sony cause they lose money with every console they make and no price drop for 360 cause people will pay $400 just for Halo 3.
Also, online is $50 on 360 and is currently better than the PS3's network. But the PS3 online is free. Plus, they plan to implement HOME somewhere in the hopefully near future.
C) Cause, lets face it, the PS3 is kind of on the backburner atm. Xbox 360 already has a staple of games with a decent online community that's active. But, the both have a lot of heavy hitters coming out very soon. And depending on what kind of style you like, well, thats where you'll want to jump in.
D) I like japanese style games. Other people like more western style games. I would say that the 360 is the most western, the PS3 is the middle, and Wii is the far east. to be fair though, the 360 has gotten better at catching Japanese developers and the PS3 still has its good share of both.
E) Do you? Until further notice, FF is staying on-board with Sony. yea, the 360 may have FFXI, but the PS2 got that years ago and so did the PC.
F) If you do, it matters how much. If one game is enough to make you buy the console, by all means, get that one. It'll be easier on the wallet.
BTW. I have a Wii and plan on buying a PS3 when I get spare money. I had a 360 and didn't really care for it, but that is just my opinion. I hope this was un-biased enough for most of you

Wow, thanks for that very detailed help. It helped me decide which one I would rather have, and I would rather have an Xbox 360.

It's all up to you man and your preferences. the 360 has a lot more games out right now, but Sony has a great line of future games coming up very shortly. PS3 also has free online service with no monthly charges, so remember that.

I'd probably go with PS3 because I could still play my PS2 games on it and I prefer sony games more.

Well... I've seen proof that if you attempt to play a PS1 or PS2 game on the PS3 system, the graphics become worse then they were originally, so if your getting the PS3, keep your old PS2 for playing PS1/2 games.
Personally, I dont really like the XBox360. The only thing Im liking from it is the downloadable version of Castlevania: SotN. But hey, that games comming out for the PSP so just get that for less money.
In the end, its all up to. But dont worry about big games like GH, FF, War games, sport games and the like, most of those are multi-platform as soon as they come out, so you'll get them either way.

i think i'll stick with Sony and the PS3 it does look pretty cool and everything, i have a PS2 at the moment but i'll wait for the price to go down, or until there are actually some good games on PS3 to come out if you know what i mean

Do you have to choose? lol Right now I'd say 360... and honestly I don't see my opinion changing for a little while. I'm more of a Sony fan than I am a 360 supporter... but right now Sony just needs time to get their library built up. If you give them a year and change, they're going to be really up to speed. But even then they'll probably only be equal to Microsoft. I'm not sure if they'll ever inch ahead this race or not. I guess we'll ahve to see.

Yeah the best games for ps3 are final fantasy. Xbox 360 is getting alot of ps3 exclusive games now though. So i'd say go with the Xbox 360.
realize that PS3 are getting games that were also once Xbox exclusive.
Its a multi-platform thing. Not a, 360 is better so we should make games for them. Its just to make money
Exactly. Right now their graphical capabilites are pretty much equal and companies want to develop for both. That may change in the future, by the way. You ask why when the consoles aren't going to change for the next 5+ years... but the answer is simple. Developers learn how to use the new hardware over the span of the console. Games released at the beginning are horrible compared to games at the end. And because the PS3 is graphically better, it doesn't give it a huge edge right now. It might, however, toward the end of the console's life. Here's an example to illustrate my point:

True but sony are losing alot more. Halo 3 is on the way and they make kill zone 2 to be a big thing. It shows weakness... I don't hate the ps3 i will get one myself in the end. I'm just saying at this point in time the 360 is the best to get. It even makes Xbox 1 games (that it can play of course) look even better where as the ps3 does not do that with ps2 games.
True, but don't forget PS3 supports way more of their back-library than Xbox360 does. Plus, the reason it looks better is because its software emulation.
But you bring up good points I will admit.
