I bought a PS2 Slim Feb last year and have been really enjoying it on my trusty 32 inch CRT TV. However, since I also have an Xbox 360 Elite, I thought I would treat myself to a nice HD TV.

Now, I have heard that the old PS2 Fat has HD support, whilst the slim does not. My question is: Is this true, and if yes, is it worth selling the slim and buying the fat, along with a PS2 wireless controller?

I didn't know the slim PS2 lacked high definition support. I knew you couldn't equip an external hard-drive to it, though. Perhaps that's what's meant when they say the slim PS2 doesn't have HD support?

Either way, I'm not convinced that playing PS2 games in high definition on a regular PS2 would be THAT much different than just sticking with the slim version and playing your games on standard definition. With a 360 or PS3? Sure. With a PS2? Probably not.

Simply playing a PS2 on an HDTV does not count as high definition. Unless you've got a high definition connection (Component, HDMI), it's not really HD. Neither of the PS2 models will support true high definition playing.

Now if it's a hard drive you're referring to, I don't think there is a whole lot of use to the hard drive, it's not worth changing models over.

But overall, if you want to play your PlayStation games in high definition, you're going to need an older PS3 and some component/HDMI cables.

I was not talking about the HDD, which I don't need since I have the official 8MG mem card which is good enough. I just wondered if you could get at least some quality out of the Fat which is rumoured to have HD support, and the picture won't be all stretched and ugly if I plug it into an HD TV?

There will not be any difference between the two. Depending on the size of your TV, it probably won't be stretched and ugly, it will certainly not look like your 360.
