Ok So in Call of Duty 4 when you unlock prestige mode it says you loose everything and you've gotta earn everything back. Does that include acheivements, some of my acheivments I unlocked were down to luck, perseverance or just a lot of time spent shooting peeps. Do you keep these or is it just the guns, camo and Perks?
All in all is it worth it just for a new insignia.

Well, although I've yet to play online yet, from what I've read I'm assuming that you just lose your guns, perks and anything else unlocked from playing online. Achievements are still kept so you don't need to worry about them.

Depends on how much you care about your rank. If you'd rather keep mowing people down with the P90 than crawl back to rank 55 from 1 again, then don't enter Prestige Mode.

As the kind sir above me already said, you only lose unlockable weapons, equipment and perks. Your achievements are safe. The M16 is all you really need to do well, so I say go ahead and enter Prestige Mode.

But you lose the .50 cal sniper. I hated having to climb back up to get that back. Did prestige once, hated it, and stayed at 55 :)

The .50 cal sniper is a beast, but with Juggernaut, I often struggle to get a ton of kills with the thing...even with Stopping Power. Bullshit, I tells yah!

nahhh, Rock Stopping power and iron lungs and you're golden. Shoot someone in the leg and their whole body disintegrates...digitally of course.

I always though prestige was basically for online bragging rights...and the higher the rank the better you are >_<
I only ever got up to 6th prestige rank 23 until I couldn't be arsed anymore...it does eventually become pointless imo but its all good fun anyway.
Go for it!

Yup. That's exactly it. Nothing more to it.

Not really. With CoD4's ranking system, players can progress merely from playing the game--not necessarily from succeeding at it. Obviously, you can progress more quickly if you're skilled. Rank can be extremely deceiving on CoD4. I've played Prestige 10 players who can't remember where the fire button is.

Hahahaha xD

My theory works for me though, 1.32 W/L and 2.34 K/D ratio ftw! :wacky:
I dunno though, it gets boring after while, based purely on the fact, it is bragging rights. In CoD5 or whatever they call it they need to add extra stuff into online play that you can get once you hit a certain prestige mode...or at least something worth playing for.

Snap! 2.34 k/d ratio? That's damn good considering how much you've likely played if you're prestige 6.

I agree. There should be some extra incentive to play when CoD5 releases (or CoD6...since Infinity Ward isn't developing CoD5). Also, ranking up should be more difficult. I think the ranking system on Halo 3 does a better job of seperating the veteran and rookie players.

My cousins and I (yeah, we share the account and take turns....our strategy to avoid being predictable....it works!), have entered Prestige Mode like three times....and it gets boring.....>__>

If you want to see those nice shining medals, I say enter Prestige Mode. Though if you would hate to lose your weapons, stay as you are

NO! You've gotta enter prestige mode and show the world just how awesomely awesome of amazingly awesome you are! I mean, think about it -- all the online cred you get from being a number 10 badass; if that's not the best thing ever, I don't know what is!

</sarcasm>

In all honesty, it's not really worth it. I made it to my fifth prestige before I got bored with the game and moved on to other games. It's just one big bragging right like the others said, and the higher you go, the more your teammates expect out of you.

Seriously; no one will harrass you if you do bad at a maxed level 1 or 2 prestige, but get to 8, 9, or even 10? They'll tear you apart in a heartbeat -- players on the other team AND your own teammates.

Yeah, I was one of the players who had false hopes of getting something worth the trouble after beating Prestige Mode twice. Guess what? I still have the same guns as a class 1 Prestige Mode....no difference.....-__-

Prestige Mode is a big fail....

That's a very good point. With a game like CoD4, where any player can rake in the kills regardless of skill level, it'd help not to have all these high expectations placed on you. You can't guarantee that you'll do great time and time again.

Many players tend to be jerks when they encounter players with superior ranks. They act like they have something to prove by beating you.
