So I've got all my checks in balances in order now, and it's time to get around to preordering Persona 4. I usually order my Atlus games from Rosenqueen, but I want to preorder chrono trigger DS too. So I figures I can simplify and order them both from the same place, and I know gamestop has both for preorder right now.

I have, however, heard that preordering from gamestop can be a painful process. What say you people on the matter?

I've never personally ordered anything from Gamestop but I can't see why it'd be a 'painful process'. What do you mean by that?

I think I'll pop this over to Rocket Town; the general gaming section of the site.

all you do is put down a 5 dollar down payment for the preordered game( or more), you get your reseat and you pick it up on release date, not painful at all

I believe you only have 48 hours to pick your pre-order up once it's been released, or they sell it. But I'm not 100% sure. I have pre-ordered twice before and everything was fine.

I've never had problems preordering games from Gamestop.

You tell 'em the game(s) you want to reserve, provide contact information for when they become available, and then you pay five or so bucks for the reservation. The money goes directly to the purchase, so you're not losing anything. Personally, I like paying off my reservations completely beforehand.

Gamestop will send you a phone call when the game releases, telling you exactly when you can pick it up, and how long you have to claim the game. Even if--for whatever reason--you don't pick the game up in the 48 or so hours they give you, you won't lose your copy. They just can't guarantee that they'll have any in stock, meaning you might have to wait for the next shipment...which is only reasonable.

It's recommended that you save the receipt for your reservation; however, you'll still be able to pick up your game without one. You'll just have to inconvenience the cashier and have him/her go into the computer and make sure you are who you say you are. Not a problem.

And that's about all there is. Very easy.

Sounds like my friend was full of shit. I'll probably stop by and preorder the games this weekend. Or maybe just do it online.

You can preorder online??? I guess there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to, but I never knew you could do it that way. At least through Gamestop.

I tried preordering over the phone once, but that was a no go. Bummer.

Yeah, you can do in-store pickup too.
