Hi. I recently reached Braska's Final Aeon in FFX, only to struggle a LOT. Having looked at walkthroughs, it appears I could do it easily with Anima and The Magus Sisters. Guess what? I didn't get all the Destruction Spheres when I entered the temples. I've tried to go back, but Dark Valefor slaughtered me at Besaid.

I don't enjoy playing games with a walkthrough as I like to discover stuff for myself, but I don't want to get to the end of X-2 and have the same disaster. I've given FF X 55 hours and I'm gutted that I can't finish it off (yet).

Can someone please tell me (with as few spoilers as possible) if there are any specific items I shouldn't miss that I'd really struggle to pick up later on and could totally mess up my attempts to complete the game?

Thanks for any help you can give :)

There's nothing really that important in FFX-2 Apart from the special Dresspheres. Only Paine's is out of storyline, however. Just go to the Macalania Spring in Chap 1, 2 or 3.

When I played X-2 I had no guide and it was probably the first game I didnt really try to get everything and I had no problem with it. Some of the extras are a bit difficult but going through the story you should have no problem at all.

My first time through FFX I never had Anima or the Magus Sisters and still managed to complete it, how much of the sphere grid have you completed on your characters?

hmm. not too sure. i haven't read any sphere grid guides so i've just moved my characters in random directions

i got the 2nd jecht (the one with 120,000hp's) down to about 50,000hp's on my last attempt, but i had used all my aeon's (i have yojimbo) and got wiped. i think if i keep trying i'll get it in the end; i haven't tried the tactic of slowing down one of his healing tower's so it's out of synch with the other one yet (does this work?)

thanks.

Nah....you don't need Anima nor the Maggot Sisters(I just hate them:P).
I whooped jecht in a heart beat with the help of Slice & Dice and Attack Reels. Then I used my Aeons at overdrive followed by a few powerful spells(ultima, flare and holy) and he was toast.( my best character was Auron with 6000+ hp and like 80 or around strenght). You must be underleveld if you get beat there.
PS:Are you loosing because of his overdrive?? It is quite painfull( actualy lethal) if he uses it on you.:D

Yeah, my guys probably just aren't tough enough. It probably was his overdrive. If I remember rightly I stopped it twice by chattin to him with Tidus, but hadn't got him down enough before he slapped me a 3rd time.

Anyway, guess what?

I kinda feel - slightly - bad about this, but I have an Action Replay Cheat thingy for my PS2. I checked on it and it had a an option to unlock all Aeon's!

So last night....I cheated...kicked butt.... and cried at the ending. Very emotional.

I only feel slightly bad because I only cheated for the one fight, and I got through to that fight by myself (50+ hours of hard but fun work) and it probably saved me another 10+ hours of attempts to beat the Final Aeon as I wasn't willing to go on a grind to up my characters' levels anymore, as that wouldn't be in the name of fun.

Anyway, FF X-2, here I come. Thanks for all your input, people.

...Crying like a baby I was....

the easiest way to get "levels" for the SG (Spheare gird)
is t owait untill you get to the capturing, and so some things there.
untill you can fight the cacactuarl

then, learn overdrive mode "comerade" nad get a "Overdrive to XP" (not shure, but I think it is a thing on a weapon, or armor.

that dos, when the cacactuar uses 9999needles. you get taht in XP.
and when it uses 99'9999 needles.
you will DEFFENATLY get lvl's

just run after a while.
and you will have a long way to wask on the SG

FFX-2 doesn't really have anything you REALLY need, though having lots of dresspheres is useful.

i agree that sinceX-2 has no weapons, so there's no special weapon you need. different dresspheres make a difference but i wouldnt say one of them helped me beat the game more than the other. and i'd say the best way to beat the final boss of X is to obtain the celestial weapons for a couple of your characters. if your sphere grid is filled enough, the celestial weapons will make all the difference.

Well, not wanting to use a guide for the first time while playing through any Final Fantasy is certainly understandable, but there’s so much to this game, that’s it’s nearly impossible to not use one. Especially if your looking to achieve the “Perfect Ending” your first time through.

My other advice would be, save as often as you can and have several save files from previously completed chapter segments as you will ultimately have to fall back on them - beat having to restart the whole game after screwing up a tenth of a percent somewhere.

i got through X2 with a good amount completed without a guide so you shouldnt have any problem beating the game without a guide. For the extras you'll probs need one though

How people do it without a guide I dont know. There is just so much to do and dresspheres can easily be missed.
