I've been playing several games with low percentages for drops. I can understand making something hard to get but the low percentages they have are insane. Take FFIV for the DS. The tails and rainbow pudding. They all have a 1 or .04 percent chance of dropping. That's just insane. I can see a low drop chance like that in an MMO but not a single player game. Especially an RPG. Hours if not weeks hunting for these items does not equate fun. It's just tedious and frustrating. I can see five percent for extremely rare items but when something is .04 percent it could take you months if you're unlucky. And FFIV DS isn't the only game like this just the one I'm most recently playing. I've seen single player games with .01 percent chances. It's all just crap. I just don't see how the developers can think it's a good idea.

I guess its incentive to keep playing to get everything, but it really does get on your nerves. It stops becoming fun after a while and becomes a sheer battle between your will and a video game code that determines whether you get what you want or not.

That said, the recruitment rate for certain Pokemon in the Mystery Dungeon series drove me absolutely insane...

The percentages in Pokemon are terrible. I mean, most of the ones for moves/battles are okay, but breeding and such is complete nonsense. This regards IVs, DVs, and other little quirks... If you plan to assemble a team for competitive battling, they make you go through the woodworks and hundreds of eggs before you can do so.
