Smoke and Arrogance
Sooo, just out of curiosity....who do you personally think is a very overrated author? Why? What was the most overrated book you've ever read?
I know mine! Ernest Hemingway! His writing is so simple and childish. His books consist of people drinking, fighting, and screwing. That's it. Also (and I know people are totally going to disagree) I think that Stephen King is overrated. I really like his short story collection "Everything's Eventual" but his longer novels are soooooo.....bland. He takes FOREVER to get to the plot/point. I know atmosphere and character development are important but COME ON. And in his longer novels, I don't think his writing is particularly good.
Most overrated book I read: Waiting for Godot. Technically not a book, but sweet Jesus, I wanted to shoot myself about half way through.
