I've been trying to find a way to play online and i completly fail. i really just want to see what its like but theres never anyone in lobbys. i'd really appreciate some help.

Do you own a PS3? If so, then you can play online via ad-hoc, you just have to download ad-hoc party from the PSN store for free. Then, with an internet connection, you can play Dissidia online anytime you want.
If you don't own a PS3, you can choose to purchase X-link Kai. It's quite a bit harder to set up than ad-hoc, but it's a cheaper alternative to buying a PS3. You can read up about it at this link: http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5649
It's confusing at first, but search around on google and you can find more information on it. I managed to set it up with only minor problems and now it runs smoothly.

Dissidia Final Fantasy does NOT have an infrastructure mode. Only Ad-Hoc, which means that the person you want to play Dissidia with must be at a max distance of 10 meters from you...
