I don't need help defeating him. This is a hypothetical.

Yevon was a great summoner and basically the equivelant of a cult leader. He convinced the vast majority of Zanarkand's citizens to kill themselves, turning them into pyreflies, the life energy he needed. With that huge sacrifice, he then merged himself with it (presumably through death) and recreated himself as a monster Sin and himself as Yu Yevon. It was so large, so massive, that he could actually dwell as a spirit within Sin, having it act as his armor. He then destroyed Bevelle and turned around and wiped out Zanarkand (for god knows why). When he is killed (first done by his daughter, Yunalesca) Sin disappears but Yu Yevon remains. Yu Yevon takes with him the life energy of the Final Aeon, as well as that of the summoners life force. It then takes 10 years for him to resummon this massive creature known as Sin.

Yevon wasn't anything incredibly special as far as summoners go. He was really good at it... but he didn't have any special powers that other summoners didn't. So therefore, it stands to reason that any other summoner with enough life energy could create a beast (like Sin) and dwell inside it. Once this beast was defeated, it would come back later but probably not take nearly as long because it wasn't as big and bad as Sin... meaning it doesn't require as much life energy to reform.

Omega was a rebel summoner who disobeyed the teachings of Yevon, so he was banished into the Omega Ruins. It is said that he died and was never sent, so he turned into a horrible fiend. I say that Omega discovered the truth behind Yevon and what actually happened. Remember, this was only a 300 year gap at the time between Omega and Yevon. Then when he was there, he took the life energy of the powerful beasts that inhabited the cave to create his own version of Sin: Omega, the beast. You go, you defeat Omega... the body disappears but the soul of Omega the summoner remains. How do you know? Nemesis (aka Omega Gold). It's Omega the Summoner reborn in his new form. How do you have to get to Nemesis? By killing 10 of every single creature in the world. Why? To collect life energy for the rebirth of Omega. You're basically taking a long process and speeding it up by collecting pyrefly energy to feed Omega with.

Thoughts?

Hmmmm. Where did you get all of this information?
I didn't know that Yunalesca was Yevon's daugher. o_O

But on the other hand, everything you say makes perfect sense. Especially the part about Omega learning the truth. I wouldn't doubt if Omega wanted to become a monster and get back at Yevon.

You learn about Omega the first time you step foot in the Omega Ruins.

As for Yunalesca, Maechen and Auron reveal bits and pieces of it throughout Spira as you journey on, mainly when they get near to the Zanarakand Ruins.

Omega:
Omega WEAPON is what formed from all the hatred that Omega the dead Monk and damned Summoner experienced after he was thrown into the dungeon for eternity. It's like angry beaver said: Omega was a person, but became such a strong fiend do to being unsent and having so much hatred, that he became like a semi-Sin/Yu Yevon.

Ultima:
There was so much hatred in Omega that it overfilled and it created a second Omega in the form of Ultima, somewhat like a Shadow. Ultima is the lesser of 2 evils, meaning weaker, but Ultima is what formed when Omega bacame to big to handle all of the hatred he was buidling up and it had to overspill somewhere.

Then there's Nemesis. Since he is Omega Gold as Aztec stated, isn't he the summon-type of Omega the dead exiled monk/summoner. Hmmm...interesting backstory indeed.

I like this theory :D .... but .... (Please dont shout at me for this)

Omega was a rebel summoner who disobeyed the teachings of Yevon, so he was banished into the Omega Ruins. It is said that he died and was never sent, so he turned into a horrible fiend.

Other people that know things in the game have been kept around, they have been able to sustain their "human" form rather than turn into fiends because they have information they need to pass on, or they have made promises they have to fulfil, or they need to undo something done... so why would "Omega" turn into this allmighty fiend? Why would he not end up like Seymour (only sane) or Auron? What features added to his transformation to a fiend?
Surely under normal circumstances he would have followed the same kind of path as Auron and held onto life to try and do whatever he could to rectify the wrong doings of Yu Yevon so that he may rest in peace and Spira just rest ?

I do hate to be a nitpicker, but I don't think Omega was a summoner. Auron (or Wakka) stated when you first walk into the Omega Ruins that, the traitor Omega, was a MONK who betrayed the teachings of Yevon (not Yu Yevon, the religion Yevon) and was exciled for it.

Also, Yu Yevon isn't controlling nor summoning Sin, he is summoning the dream of the Fayth. Which in general is the Zanarkand that Tidus is from.
What Sin actually is, is the Final Summon used as a living shield (unholy armor of the dead as Maester Miaka put it) to be able to summon the dream of the Fayth protected. This armor (Sin) has basicly a mind of his own, and attacks everyone without being given the order to.

UltimaNatus, I thought maybe that if he figured out who Yevon actually was and what he did. If he found the truth behind the Yevon religion, he could have broken away from the church. But if you're a church trying to cover up a major conspiracy and you had someone who was going to blab, you might just lock him away in a cave somewhere and tell everyone he was a rebel. ;) And the reason (I think) he didn't keep his original form is because he knew what Yevon did. If Yevon did it, he could do it too. So he did and became Omega the beast, who was just considerably weaker than Sin.

Omnislasher has the best counterpoint so far. He was a monk/priest, not an actual summoner. I did not catch that but you are right. Even so, what is a summoner? Just someone who can commune with the fayth and summon them at will. He was a high priest, like Maester Mika, so my guess is he could summon if he wanted to. He probably had the power, but like Father Zuke, decided his abilities were better used elsewhere.

Ultima is a shadow of Omega. I'm not honestly sure. They describe it as a shadow or clone that Omega created. It does say Omega created it though. So perhaps it was his first attempt? Or perhaps after 700 years of living in that place it just asexually reproduced. I dunno.

Also, what don't you agree about with Yunalesca? She was Yevon's daughter. No question. "Lady Yunalesca was a legendary ancient summoner from the city of Zanarkand and the daughter of [] Yevon. She was the first person to ever defeat Sin." - Wikipedia

hmm if it was possible for other summoners to do this they could create another sin themselves and then kill the real sin with the one they create :P

ahem...sorry about that...

Good theory...its interesting.

I don't think that Omega created himself like you think Aztec. I think that Omega did something, (what he did is totally debatable, it was never discloused what he did exactly) that betrayed the teachings so badly, that he was exciled to the ruins. He continued harboring such feelings of hatred towards Yevon, that when he died and turned into a fiend, his hatred stayed with him, and that is what made him able to take that form.

Another theory I would like to throw in there is one of my own in regards to why Omega was exciled to the ruins.

Maybe Omega was the very first unsent to keep his form (like Auron, Seymore, & Miaka) and the Yevon clergy found out about it. Not knowing what this was or what it meant, Yevon declared this herecy, (like everything else they didn't approve of or understand) and he was then sent to the ruins as punishment.

Having served the Yevon clergy for so many years, only to be betrayed by them when he needed them most, he began to hate Yevon so strongly, that his unsent form took another form, the form of Omega.

No, Omega didn't die until he was put in the Ruins, so the theory of being exiled there because he was "unsent" is wrong right from the start. He was alive as a priest/monk at that point in time and when he was exiled to the Ruins, he died afterwards.

Lulu
"Seven hundred years ago..."
"a monk who defied the teachings was sentenced here."

Wakka
"Oh, the traitor Omega, ya?"

Yuna
"Omega's loathing of Yevon has turned him into a fiend."

Wakka
"They say he liked it underground, out of the light."

It says that he was a traitor. He obviously did something that opposed the teachings of Yevon or something to foil their plans. Lulu says he was a monk when he defied the teachings and was sentenced, not dead.

We never know how he defied the teachings. And the game never stated that he died in the ruins, just sentenced to them. So he could've been dead when he got there.

I'm not saying my theory's right. But there is nothing in the game that points to it being wrong either. With all the game dialoge you have there, they still don't say what he did to defy the teachings. All we know is that he's an unsent. Whether or not he was dead when he got there is open to discussion.

Common sense: wouldn't you think that if he was unsent, they would have sent him to the Farplane instead of the Ruins to prevent him from becoming a fiend and terrorizing people in the future? Sure the Ruins was a punishment, but if he was unsent, the easiest way to rid him for good would be to Farplane his ass.

True......I actually don't have comeback for that one..................theory proven wrong, let's move on then..............

Like I said, he could've been the first 'Unsent' to take the form that Auron and the Measters did. Maybe Yevon wanted to study him and it backfired on them or something.

There's really no way to say for certain what was Omega's ultimate fate. But it would really interest me to know what he did that was bad enough to have Yevon banish him like they did.

I'm not really buying it. Although an interesting theory on the whole, it's not very likely that someone will have engaged in similar methods to Yu Yevon.

Similar such cases to Omega are the 'unsent' in Via Infinito. Kinoc morphs into Aranea, Jyscal into Black Elemental, Mika into Concherer (omfg I hated that boss), Yunalesca into Chac, and Zaon into Paragon. I believe Omega was merely the result of animated pyreflies.

I bolded the above for a reason. Oh wow, Paragon happens to look a lot like Zaon! I believe Paragon to be the form of Yunalesca's Final Aeon. But only because the two afore mentioned being bear striking resemblances to one another. Mainly for colours and patter design. >.>
Now, is it mere coincidence that Omega, Nemesis, and Ultima all bear identical features to Paragon; Zaon? Definitely a connection there, meaning it was highly unlikely that Omega adopted a method similar to that of Big Bad. Perhaps Zaon had powerful influence through pyreflies?

Unless of course the design of those Weapons were not intentionally linked. >.>

I never got to Paragon, but after looking it up on Wikipedia, it says that it's just the same character model as Nemesis only its in FFX-2. So if it re-appeared in FFX-2, it would only really help support the theory that Omega resummoned his armor. First being Omega, then Nemesis, then Paragon... each one with the same look only stronger than the last.

awsome theory it puts all the pieces together bt that means he would have been able to defeat sin and b a hero if he dismissed all that anger.....would'nt it

it sounds like a huge conspirqacy to me, but it does make perfect sense. I didn't find omega to be that hard of a boss to be honest though. That damn Yevon is surrounded by conspiracy

As far as I know...

Omega was a Monk who defied the teachings of Yevon and was banished to Omega Ruins where out of his hatred toward Yevon turned into a terrible Fiend.

Your theory is a good one AT and it puts all the pieces behind Omega and his spat with Yevon into perspective but again, it's just one of those things that SE has left for us all to speculate, this would make a very good Fan Fic

I doubt that Zaon had anything to do with Omega. Omega was born 300 years after Zaon was used as the final summoning.
