No MP in this game?

Well if they had the mp back, then they would have to choose a different system to the junction one.

I really liked the whole draw/junction system. Not having MP wasn't anything bad and it was a great change from the norm. I can't say I prefer this system over the regular MP system but I'd say the are on leveled ground.

MP>>>>>Stock anyday of the week, simply because you can use the magic so long as you have mp, however with stock, if you use it all, you have to go back and re-stock it again...that's just completely horrible, especially on the more powerful magic stocks.

FFVIII is, in my opinion, one of the best games of all time ... I love FFXII though, but VIII is still fab. The story is great, the summons are brill and the graphics are pretty good too.

I love it! I love it! I love it!!! :wacky:

And that has what to do with this thread?

I noticed there was no MP and wondered where it had hidden until I realised you didnt need it to use magic you stocked (I was having a thick moment at the time-I looked all over the menu for it) As it is, i quite like the lack of mp as i never seemed to ever have enough ethers and wotnot and Im not a great magic user anyway. Mostly curative stuff

I think it was a good change, not only was it good for those of us who aren't entirely magic based fighters, but it also showed that RPG's don't all have to be the same.

Yes that is good because a lot of RPGs have MP. FF VIII changes that up and makes it a little different. I personally thought it was cool how they changed it up a little.

I disliked it because I felt that as long as Magic was treated like an item, especially that was linked to my stats, the more frivolous I used it the more I would waste something needlessly, so all in all I just got 99 of x-Magic and put it to my STR stats and let everybody attack (unless I really needed to use magic for whatever reason) With other FF's, I knew I could use up the remaining MP for whatever person if I knew an Inn/Tent was going to recover me but here, the only good thing to come out of no MP was the fact that GF's were "free".

I prefer the draw/junction system in VIII for magic rather than using MP, as someone stated above about having a minority of Ethers etc, i always seem to be on the same boat. FFVIII is my favourite game of all time, nothing comes close to it. And i really think Square hit it off with this system :D:D.
