I am extremely disappointed that basically 99.99999999999999% of the games in the market are shooter games, and the fact that younger teens are so crazy about them. They all look the same to me...
Right, as a start, like Mer said, they are catering for a certain audience, the audience who will bring the most money in for this genre of gaming as a whole. Its like that in every sense of gaming, I dont like FPS's either, I dont get the deal of it, but that's just personal preference because I'm an RPG kinda person.
Although I prefer pretty graphics, I don't mind most PS1 and PS2 games, like crash bandicoot, spyro, tomba!, etc. Their nostalgic feel and magic compensate for the ugly graphics. But I am not very fond of NES graphics... They give me eye-sores.
Totally agree, though in some aspects pretty graphic doesn't necasserily mean good story and a good game like FFXIII proved.
But pretty graphics do make it a lot more enjoyable to the eye, and make it something to remember. Whereas FPS's have a dry, dark and dusty look to them.
Which is why I would play Eternal Sonata or FFXIII over Call of Duty or anything like that anyday.
