Okay, so i just got a PM from someone asking me how the RPG works, and it got me to wondering - would it be possible to have some sort of PM sent out automatically to people when they register?

It could cover all sorts of things - like:

RPG inferno,
Some common Dupe threads that should not be made -IE Favourite character,
Information about the various sections.
Acceptable and unnacepptable behaviour.

and stuff like that, i know theres threads about stuff like the RPG in Seventh heaven inn amongst other places but not everyone reads thoses threads, while a PM would be anavoidable..

I made a thread suggesting including details about the RPG yonks ago. Obviously nothing came of it, but it's clearly a good idea. So I'm just throwing in my support, not that it really counts for anything.

see i couldn't remember if i'd seen a thread like this or not before because i was going to go bump it..=/ oh well.

maybe this will bring Atention back to this problem...

I think it's a great idea personally =o I can bring it up in the staff section I suppose. Although I don't really know why people wouldn't go for it =o It'd make the pm's I get about the RPG stop too xDD

Yea, we have talked about this multiple times... and every time we do talk about it, everyone agrees it would be a good idea. Someone just needs to get around to doing it.

I'll back this, I've had a few PMs myself about various subjects incl. RPG, Profile and other seemingly mystical devices

Well, as far as I remember, when I joined here, I received a PM from the FFF System :-)rolleyes:) basically welcoming me to the forums and telling me where to go to introduce myself. I've seen how this works on an IPB board ... it's just a matter of editting the welcome. Since the PM is sent out by default, that could work.

Just went to go fix the Body of the PM that is sent out by the FFF System automatically when a newbie joins, and this is what I got in the ACP:
