Chapter 1-Never Get Melons

Never Grasley stared at the clouds on his back in the lush green fields of his hometown. The smell of Spring was in the air and the temperature was just right. Never lie on his back watching the clouds slowly roll by in the blue sky. Never had there been such a peaceful day in his hometown like this one. The sun shone perfectly and the mood was set just right.

Never got up and figured he should head to his house nearby for lunch. He raised himself up off the ground and stretched, his purple hair now littered with twigs and blades of grass. He yawned just as a breeze blew by and began the short distance walk to his home. Never spotted his friend Snow waiting for him at his house in the distance as he walked closer and closer to his home.

Snow, who was a smart girl often acted as Never’s conscience in life and guided him when he was lost. The two friends had grown up together and although this was Never’s house he knew that Snow wasn’t here to see him. “What are you doing outside?” Never asked completely unaware that he had startled her as she was looking inside his house from a nearby window.

“Oh, it’s you again.” Sighed Snow as she looked around Never as if she were searching for someone else.

Seeing this Never Figured she was looking for his older brother Nyere. “What are you still trying to creep around by brother? He’s not interested yaknow.” Said Never with a big grin.

“How would you know?” spoke Snow in her tempered ways. “You’re too immature to know what true love is!”

“Well that may be, but I’m smart enough to know that ‘true love’ doesn’t include stalking.” Replied Never opening his door and stepping in. “Ya coming Snow?”

Snow who was nervous in front of Nyere stepped in quietly as she saw Never’s older brother reading in a chair. “Oh I see the young lady is here. Hello Snow.” Said Nyere as he continued to read his paper.

“She was stalking you again.” Said Never as he went through the cabinets for a snack.

Wham! Snow whacked Never in the back of the head with a pot she found in the kitchen. “Uh, No I wasn’t Never! I was just waiting for you to let me in!” she said loud enough for Nyere to here.

“Ow! Snow why’d you hit m-“ Never began to ask before Snow ducked down behind a counter to where he lay on the floor in pain.

“I swear if you embarrass me like that again in front of Nyere I’ll get cha!” whispered Snow just loud enough for Never to hear.

Never shuddered as Snow put down the cooking pot politely. “S-s-so un Nyere, he” began Snow in a sweet voice as she blushed slowly.. “Is there anything interesting in the news?”

“No,” sighed Nyere as he stood to put his paper away. “ Nothing but the usual things happening in Altaria. Nothing you kids would be interested in.”

His black hair was shoulder length and wavy and his carefree style of jeans and a tshirt just made Snow even more crazy about him. Nyere had fairly handsome features and he had raised Never in this house since he could remember. “There’s nothing to eat!” Never announced from the kitchen. “Nyere you ate my Spaghetti!”

“Well, ya snooze ya loose.” Said Nyere.

“Yeah Never!” said Snow trying to suck up to her long time crush. “You should have thought about that before you left it out!”

“Well because of this I’m gonna have to go buy food at the market come on Snow!” said Never as he yanked her out of the house and down the street to where the market was.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“You keep pushing it Never and one day I’ll snap.” Warned Snow.

“Oh Puh-lease! Like my brother would ever go out with you! He’s like six years older than you!” said Never. “Get a real crush!”

The two had walked down the dusty road and had reached the market. There were fruit stands and fruits of all kinds. There were apples, oranges, bananas, fnakanas, rainy gelp berries, pustcarin melons, water melons, lady melons, and grapes. The square outdoor market seemed almost empty and the merchants most certainly didn’t want to be there in the hot sun selling such delicious, mouthwatering items. Never looked around for his treats. “Hmmmm what should I get…” mumbled Never staring at the water melons.

“Can we get out of the heat please?” asked Snow trying to find an excuse to go back to the Grasleys place to do more spying. “Never are you listening?”

Never ignored her as his eyes shifted to the bigger pustcarin melon. “Let’s go somewhere else.” Whined Snow.

Never still eyed the melons trying to pick out the juciest, ripest, most well rounded pair of melons he could sink his teeth into. “Hey Never! Look at me when I’m talking to you!” whined Snow in a frustrated tone.

“Why should I?” asked Never. “Yours aren’t any bigger.”

“That’s it!” said Snow as she reached into her jacket pocket to take out the pot from before. “I knew I would need this sooner or later.”

Never spotted the pot out of the corner of his eye and ran from Snow who chased him down. Never sped towards his house, running as fast as he could, Snow hot on his tracks. After running for what seemed like two minutes, Snow had a brilliant idea and tossed the pot straight out in front of her which clonked Never in the back causing him to topple over. “Hmph! Maybe that’ll teach you to respect a lady a little more.” Said Snow.

Just as she said this, the clouds had gotten together where it had gotten dark and blocked out the sun. When wind began to pick up and all traces of sunlight were erased from view. “What happened to the weather?” asked Never as the wind had gotten much stronger.

“It looks like a storm is coming! Possibly a tornado!” said Snow. “We need shelter come on!”

“Tornado?! That’s ridiculous! It was just fine a minute ago.” Said Never, but as he looked over, Snow was already jogging down the street. “Wait up!”

Never jogged behind Snow and as he ran the storm seemed to get worse. Finally they had made it to his house and closed the door. Bushes began to blow through the air. “What’s going on out there?” asked Snow white and pale.

Nyere had come from a room in the back and with a sigh of relief he began to think. “Thank goodness you two are okay!” said Nyere. “I was starting to get worried we’d never get new groceries-is that a tornado outside?”

Nyere had seen what Never and Snow were now looking at with fear. A giant twister had formed and was heading this way. “We’re gonna! Die!” panicked Snow! “I knew I shouldn’t have come here!”

“Well then you’re more than welcome to leave!” said Never as he ran to his room in the back of his house.

Never searched his room until he spotted his scared pet hamster in its cage. “Lets go now Cheep!” said Never as he grabbed his hamster and attempted to run from the house, but before he could do anything the house had violently jerked to the right and all that could be heard were screams from Snow.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Never opened his eyes. Out of his bedroom window he could see a purplish sky. Was he dead? He had no idea. He walked to the front of the house towards the kitchen and out of the kitchen window was not a tornado, but a purplish setting seeming to contain stars. Snow and Nyere were outstretched on the floor unconscious. “What the heck? Are we in hell?” questioned Never. “I’m far to innocent to be sent to such a place…”

Cheep the hamster rattled in it’s cage. “Cheep! Cheepurs!” Went the little brown mouse which Never interpreted as: let me out of this cage!

“What was that Cheep?” Never asked. “ You want me to let you out? Wait! That’s silly I can’t talk to a mouse!”

Never talked to the mo-“I mean it’s not even impossible! It’s a mouse and we just landed in some unknown place! A story can’t be that-”

Shut it Never I’m the narrator and what I say goes! “Oh yeah?!” Yeah! And then Never was hit by an invisible pot. Boink!

“Ouch! Okay okay! I’ll go along with it Mr. Narrator!”

Never let the mouse out of it’s cage and it sat on his should “You just said it was a hamster a moment ago!” Oh! Right! Um…. From now on Cheep is a mouse! So like I was saying.

Never opened the door to his house and saw that he had entered a purple space of some sorts. It looked as if the skies were filled with stars and below was the same only invisible glass. Never walked out into this unknown place with his MOUSE on his shoulder and looked around. “It doesn’t feel like I’m dead.” Said Never as he walked out into the strange space he and his house had landed in…

Chapter 2 – Never get Ever

Never stood in the dark empty space in which his house stood with an unconciuos Nyere and Snow. Never and Cheep went out to explore. “What is this place?” asked Never.

“It is the end of time.” Repied an old man behind him.

Never, surprised and startled jumped back. “Who are you?” he asked.

“I am the great time mage Giza.” The old man responded as he took off the hood of his brown robe to reveal his withered features.

His head was bald in the middle and white on the sides with hair. He possessed a beard of a great length as it flowed all the way down to the ground. “Don’t be frightened, for it was I, Giza who summoned you to this place.” Said the wizard.

“You didn’t just summon me! You summoned my whole house!” said Never as Cheep the mouse sat quietly on his shoulder. “I don’t even know you!”

The old wizard coughed before gazing at Never and saying, “I’m afraid my magic’s gotten a little rusty…”

“Magic?” asked Never.

“Magic is an old art that doesn’t exist in Altaria anymore…” said Nyere as he exited the house.

He and Snow had awakened and were exiting the house to see where the heck this purplish place was. “Apparently this old man has gained the power of magic again. Just who are you and what do you want with us?” asked Nyere.

“You mean this old man the one who brought us here?!” asked Snow in a annoyed tone as she stared upwards into the endless star riddled sky.

“I am Giza, the Time mage of the future of Altaria!” said the old man. “And it was Never I was attempting to summon.”

“Hmm I wonder what business an old man would have to do with Never?” asked Snow in a mocking singsongy voice. “Maybe it’s forbidden lo-“

“Don’t even play like that!” said Never defensively! “I said I don’t know the guy! Now what do you want with me gramps?”

The old man coughed again before waving his arms in the air for minutes, focusing hard on something. He waved them around and around again until a tiny blue circle of a wormhole suddenly appeared above him. “What I want is for you Never to save Altaria from it’s impending doom.” Said the wizard as a sword emerged from the wormhole. “And the only way to do that is to destroy the root of the cause.”

“You want me to save Altaria?” asked Never sarcastically. “From what boredom? Nothing bad has happened in Altaria in ages!”

“Oh not yet, but it will!” said Giza as he took the giant sword he had summoned in his hand and began to summon another wormhole. “You see that storm you saw before I summoned you was caused by a great wizard who had come to destroy Altaria. From the storm you almost witnessed, Dark creatures from all over the univers had come to aid in this wizards destruction of Altaria.”

A purple cloak had now emerged from the wormhole. Giza took this cloak and handed them to Never. “I being the Time wizard had tried to stop him before with the most powerful weapon in our universe, the Ever Sword.” Said Giza as he forcefully shoved the cloak onto Never’s body. “This boy Never is the one who can truly harness the power of the Ever Sword if Altaria’s future has any chance.”

“But why? Why me?” asked Never.

He knew that he wasn’t special and that this wizard could be lying somehow. Snow and Nyere looked suspiciously at the old man too. “This has got to be a joke.” Said Nyere. “Never is just a kid, he can’t save himself let alone Altaria from this unknown ‘danger’ you speak of.”

“Yeah! Never isn’t a hero.” Said Snow “He’s-he’s- well…just look at him!”

“Huh?” said Never as he struggled to zip up the purple cloak that seemed to fit him perfectly.

“Why not?” asked Giza. “This boy is the one I came back from the future to get. He is indeed the hero of the Ever Sword.”

“I can do whatever you want,” said Nyere. “It’s too dangerous for Never to go out with a sword saving people.”

“So you don’t believe me?” asked Giza. “What a shame and you don’t believe in your own brother either.”

“Wait! That’s not what I said!” Nyere tried to correct himself.

Well then if you don’t believe then you can head back to Altaria!” shouted Giza in a forceful tone as he lifted Nyere up into the air with his magical strength.

“Nyere!” shouted Snow in fear.

“Hey! You put him down!” shouted Never. “Put him down or I won’t do your little deed.”

“Sure.” Said Giza as he snapped his fingers and Nyere disappeared.

“Hey where’d he go?” asked Snow in a worried tone. “What did you do to him?”

“No worries girl.” Said Giza. “I merely sent him back to your world where all of the monsters are. He’ll surely die if you don’t help him.”

“You dirty old man!” said Never. “I’ll get you for this!”

“Hm? Oh yes, that’s right. The only way you can save your brother is if you save Altaria from the threats of the wizard destroying Altaria right at this very second.” Said Giza in a very satisfied tone.

“Fine…” said Never “what do I have to do?”

At this point Giza handed Never the big sword he had summoned earlier. “This is the Ever Sword. You are to travel to five different dimensions and defeat the evil within them with this sword.” Said Giza.

“What’s getting rid of other people’s problems going to do for us?” asked Snow.

“The wizard who destroys Altaria had with him five different monsters he summoned from different dimensions. If you go back in time and kill these fiends before they appear, then you can stop the wizard from summoning them to destroy Altaria and you home and brother will be safe.” Said Giza.

Never took hold of the Ever sword. It was smooth to the touch and it brought about vibrations within it. “So all I gotta to is finish these things with this? Piece of cake! I’ll do it!” said Never excitedly.

“Never!” said Snow. “Think about it, He might be trying to trick you or something!”

“I kid you not dear.” Said Giza. “If you think I lie thenyou can travel with the boy too, but I cannot ensure your safety as I have his.”

“My safety?” asked Never.

“That cloak is enchanted. With it on you can take a few hits whether it be from magic or physical. But I don’t have a spare so it looks like you’ll be protecting the girl too.” Said Giza as he began to created another wormhole, only bigger than the last two.

“Hehe! This is gonna be fun!” said Never. “It beats lying around all day!”

“Ugh, he’s going to protect me? I’m doomed!” said Snow.

“Cheep Cheepurs!” went the mouse who meant something like: Look a wormhole is opening!

“So you’re gonna transport us to these worlds?” asked Never.

“Yes, when you’re finished, we’ll come back here and observe the fate of your brother.” Said Giza.

“Ugh, so much for my plans for this week.” Said Snow sarcastically as she stood beside Never. “You better not let me die or else I’ll haunt you Never.”

“Don’t worry Snow trust me! I’ll protect you.” Said Never as they headed towards the portal.

“Just through here is your first destination. You need to defeat the one Odel I think.” Said Giza as he coughed two more times. “You’ll start in Balamb, good luck.”

With that the three adventurers(including Cheep) stepped through the portal and in a flash they were on their way…

Chapter3-Never meet Zell

Zell Dincht sat on the park bench of the small town of Balamb. He sat thinking to himself staring up at the clouds. Ever since he and his friends had a quite fun adventure a while back he hadn’t been the same. Things in his hometown were slow, especially since his school Balamb Garden had moved around a lot. It floated across land and the ocean all over the world and the military academy’s SeeDs had dedicated themselves to helping anyone they could.

The small town of Balamb couldn’t have gotten any quieter as the blue skies pushed clouds along slowly. Zell had gotten up from his seat and stretched. His visit to his mother would be ending soon and he would be getting back on the Garden ship, for he himself was a military SeeD.

“Zell!” shouted a local child. “Zell! I need you!”

It was a little girl he had known as Nelly. She was barely five years old and ran in a pink dress towards him. “Zell!” she shouted as she reached him.

“Heya Nelly!” said Zell. “What are you doing all by yourself in the streets?”

“Zell! A man stole my ice cream. Can you beat him up for me?” asked Nelly, her eyes wide as marbles.

“A man stole your ice cream?!” said Zell in an exaggerated tone. “Hm! I’ll get him where is he?”

Ever since he defeated a really powerful sorceress a year ago, the local children in his town had looked to him as a sort of hero. While he loved the image of being admired by kids, something about it didn’t feel as exciting as his traveling times with his friends who by now were busy with their own lives. The small tasks he would do for kids only made him feel good for a small while. He wanted to feel the adrenaline of adventure again.

“He’s out by the docks! He came right out of the water and stole my ice cream!” said Nelly. “And he was purple colored!”
---------------------------------------------------------------------

“Ya know, stealing isn’t nice Never!” said Snow as she and Never observed this place called Balamb. “We’re in a different world so being an asshole would get you consequences!”

“But she had TWO ice creams! A little girl like her can’t eat two!” Never tried to explain. “Plus that old bald guy Giza didn’t give us any money.”

“She was a little girl!” said Snow as she heard the sound of trains departing from somewhere off in the distance.

“Whatever, lets just focus on why we’re here.” said Never as he took the last bite of the ice cream cone and left the docks.

“Yo!” came an unfamiliar voice.

“Huh?! Oh crap she’s back…” went Never as he quietly stood behind Snow.

“Get him Zelly!” went Nelly pointing directly at Snow.

“Huh? What the? Never! Get from behind me!” said Snow as she grabbed Never and held him in plain sight.

The man whom the little girl called “Zelly” just stood there observing the two. He was blond with a tattoo on the side of his face and he wore long blue shorts with a black t-shirt and gloves. Never gazed at his appearance and figured that obviously, this girl had gotten the bully of the town to agree to beat him up. “Yo! Stealing isn’t cool man!” said Zelly, his face stern. “I want you to apologize to Nelly here.”

“Yeah Never, apologize to this girl.” said Snow sternly.

Never stood at this controversy. He hated to be told what to do by others. He felt misunderstood, mostly because this sort of thing would happen a lot at his home. He stared at the angry little girl and began his apology. Putting on a smile he said “Sorry little girl! I was really hungry.”

At this little Nelly had run off without so much as an acceptance. “Ah, kids.” Said the man called ‘Zelly’.

“My names Never, Never Grasley.” Said Never as he held out his hand to the man in greeting.

“Hiya Never. Name's Zell Dincht.” Said Zell as he shook Never’s hand.

“I’m Snow.” Said Snow as she eyed the man suspiciously.

He looked about their age and had a tattoo on his face, which made him seem less trustworthy. Snow had eyed the man suspiciously for a while before speaking up herself. “We’re new here. Do you mind showing us around?” she asked.

“Sure! No problem!” said Zell as he let go of Never’s hand. “I know just about every inch of the entire world, having been there myself. So where you guys from?”

“Uh….nowhere.” replied Never thinking. “It’s uh….classified, top secret.”

“Oh come on!” said Zell. “Do you really think I’d believe th-“

Boom! An explosion somewhere on the other side of Balamb occurred. “What the hell?” Zell gasped in surprise.

“What was that?” asked Snow. “A bomb?”

Zell ran off towards the direction of the explosion and Never stared right behind him. “Never!” shouted Snow concerned.

“Lets go Snow! This might be that thing I’m supposed to kill in order for Nyere to be safe.” Replied Never as he tried to keep Zell in his sight.

Snow ran on after Never, realizing that the troubles in their home world were far less worse than the current situation. They were in a new world, many possibilities had opened up. “Cheep!” went the mouse Cheep from inside Snow's hood meaning something like: Be careful! We don’t know what’s in store for us in this new world!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

A man with a black hood had emerged from the flaming train he had exploded. It was now time for him to acquire his target. His newest target was in this town and he would tear it apart to find it. Just as he cast a Firaga spell on the nearby gift shop a little girl had just come around the corner…

Chapter 4- Never in a Garden

The station burned with risen flames as Zell and Never approached it. Citizens of the town had evacuated the train station and the stores nearby. “What the hell went on here?” asked Zell in a confused tone.

“A bomb maybe?” suggested Never.

“That looks dangerous!” said Snow as she caught up with the two guys.

“Eeeek!” went a little girl’s scream from inside the burning station.

“Nelly? Oh man!” went Zell as he watched the flames roar. “She’s inside the station!”

Zell ran into the fiery place without even thinking. “What the hell’s he doin?” asked Never.

“He’s saving that little girl from earlier. You should help him Never.” Said Snow in a stern voice.

Never walked away casually. “Well she probably deserves it for being such a brat over a frozen treat.” He said as the flames continued to crackle from inside.

“Never help him!” Snow commanded. “I guess this proves me and Nyere right. You aren’t a hero.”

Hearing this Never stopped and thought for a second. He then rushed into the flaming building without saying a word. He just knew he could prove her wrong. He was a hero, at least he wanted to be. Nobody believed in him and he wanted to shut them up. He wanted to show them all that he could be responsible for once. “Zell?” Never called out in the dark smoky train station.

He could hear a rustling from the far end of the station and rushed over there to aid Zell in his rescue mission. Once Never got there he spotted a hooded man and Zell face to face. Zell lunged forward towards the man and landed a few punches while the hooded man created a ball of fire and shot it back at his attacker. Never’s Adrenaline kicked in as he rushed toward the fight.

“Mind if I help out?” Never asked as he entered Zell’s fight.

Zell, surprised at this aid eyed Never and the Ever sword before saying, “What took ya so long?”

Never slashed forward at the hooded man. He had never used a sword before and had missed his target while a ball of fire went flaming towards him. “Give her back ya bastard!” Zell shrieked as he came to the man’s side and kicked him in the air.

The hooded man hung in the air just for a small while as Never ran and jumped, swinging the Ever sword at the hooded man. “Yes!” Never gasped as the sword struck it’s target.

He fell down to the ground as he inhaled a load of smoke. The station’s flames had gotten hotter and the smoke made it harder to see. “You can’t have the girl.” Never heard the hooded man say as he heard Zell fall to the floor not far from hear.

The smoke made it hard to even see. “Zell!” wen’t the small girl’s voice in the darkness.

“Wait!” coughed Zell as he attempted o run further down the station.

Never picked himself up off the ground and ran after Zell through the darkness. Orange flames began to fade away behind him and the air became clearer. He could now see Zell standing at the end of the platform. “That bastard.” Mumbled Zell as Never caught up with him.

“Where did he go?” asked Never.

“I don’t know.” Said Zell. “But I gotta go after him.”

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

“Thanks for the meal Ma!” said Zell as he left his home to find Never and Snow waiting outside for him.

“Are you sure you two want to come with?” asked Zell as Never and Snow eyed him eager to leave.

“Heck yeah we’re coming!” said Snow enthusiastically.

“’Heck’? This isn’t grade school Snow.” Teased Never.

“Shut up, let’s just get a move on!” said Snow as she followed Zell out of Balamb.

The sky was a deep, dark blue and was littered with white stars. It was nighttime as the three walked to the edge of a cliff on what Never could now see was an island. “Cheep!” squeaked Never’s mouse who meant to say: Look at the stars! Aren’t they beautiful?!

“Yeah it is…” said Never as Zell checked his watch in the moonlight.

“Garden should be passing by here soon.” Said Zell.

“A…..garden?” said Snow who was obviously confused.

She began to suspect that this man was a crazy serial killer. “Is that some kinda code speak?” asked Never who also became confused by the school. “Or is it some kind of a magic garden with magic fruits and veggies?”

Zell eyed the two with suspicion himself. “No, I mean Garden as in the military academy Balamb Garden.”

“Oh!” said Snow and Never in unison.

They had forgotten that they were in another world, which would probably mean different terms for military schools. The giant school could be seen as a spectacle of light in the distance. It shone on the edge of the sea with bright lights and a halo ring at the top of it. “Oh it’s so beautiful!” said Snow. “Like an angel!”

“Yeah it’s kinda like a carnival!” said Never as the school came closer.

“How can a military school that’s supposed to be serious look like a bright festive carnival?” Never thought.

“Yeah, it’s great.” Said Zell. “But you guys are gonna love it even more inside! Especially the cafeteria!”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<insert boarding part in here…though to be honest, I don’t know how they pick up stray student’s on a moving garden but whatever…If you haven’t played the game, just know that this kind of logic didn’t exist in it yet…Just assume that the characters jumped onto the school as it was passing by and climbed there way onto a deck.>

The school inside was bigger than Never thought. It had fountains of water everywhere with weird fish statues. This place is huge. Girls in uniforms jogged past Never and Guys in uniforms stared at Snow in her revealing skirt. “You guys just stay in the foyer.” Said Zell. “I’m gonna go find someone who can help us!”

“Take your time.” Said Snow as she winked at the guys in the crowd.

Snow thought some of them were kinda cute. Never on the other hand was eyeing a little blonde kid in a blue shirt who ran through the large garden in circles like a manic, clearly ignoring the sign nearby saying: No Running Unless it’s an Emergency. The little boy was running by again and Never saw him speeding through to nowhere. “This Kid’s insane.” He mumbled to Snow who was now purposely dropping invisible items and pretending to be picking them up in front of the garden guys.

Finally as the kid got close enough Never held out his foot and the boy tripped and fell right into a fountain. “Reading is fundamental.” Chuckled Never as he walked away past Snow who was now posing and pretending to stare at something interesting in the sky.

Chapter 5- Never eat a Dog

The monsters surrounded Never, their four thin arms waving at him, the giant mouthlike thing with legs swaying on the ground. Never gripped the Ever sword tightly and swung at the Grat monsters landing a clear hit with each swing. He seemed to be getting better. “Wow.” Said the marksman Never had met in the garden training center earlier on. “You’re improving.”

“Yeah!” Never gasped as the last conscious monster lunged at him with it’s mouth open.

Never slashed as the monster came. “I’ve never fought with a sword but, it’s becoming easier with practice.”

They had been fighting the school’s monsters in the training center for almost an hour now. “Why don’t you take a break?” the man said as he lowered his firearm. “I could use a meal.”

This man had an odd sense of style and seemed to stick out just like Never and his purple theme. He wore a big black hat and a huge beige coat and carried a large gun with him as a weapon. “You don’t really see a sword fighter these days.” Said the man who introduced himself as Irvine earlier. “Unless you count the gunblade…”

Never followed Irvine out of the garden training center and into the main circular school foyer. “Yeah I bet.” Agreed Never.

Though he felt that Irvine was a nice guy, he was uncomfortable about how feminine this ‘man’ appeared to be. The long ponytail of Irvine’s hair shined just a little too much, and his soft facial features were a little too soft.

“The cafeteria’s this way.” Said Irvine as he led Never through a hall with a red pathway.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Oh really?” said Snow laughing as one of the garden boys told her a humorus experience of his past.

The guys had approached her and led her away from the Quad and too the hall of the dorms to chat.

“So where are you from?” asked one of the guys, staring at Snow’s clothes(to be accurate, it was her chest).

“Um….I’m from far away.” Said Snow blushing. “I’ve never been to a garden before, uh I mean a garden school that is.”

The guys all laughed in a cheesy way. Staring at Snow’s revealing attire.

Most of the guys had broken away from her group of adoring fans out of boredom and now there were about fur of them left. “Well guys, I gotta go!” said Snow as she remembered Zell and Never’s mission.

She sprinted back to the front of the garden looking for Zell and Never. “Where the heck could they have gone?” she mumbled.

Just then she spotted a guy walking from a hall with red floors. Snow jogged up to him and asked, “Excuse me, have you seen a purple kid around here?”

“Oh, you mean Never?” asked the man named Irvine. “Yeah, he’s in the cafeteria eating hotdogs.”

Irvine put out his hand for Snow to shake it and gave her what he called his “charming smile” and leaned in close. “My name’s Irvine, nice to meet you young lady.” He said.

“Cheep! Cheepurs!” went the mouse Cheep on Snows shoulder who meant to say: Don’t fall for it! He looks like a she!.

Snow of course couldn’t understand the mouse because only Never speaks Squeak. She shook Irvine’s hand and quickly walked towards the cafeteria away from the creepy man/woman.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zell sat in Squall’s room waiting for him to reply. “Sorry Zell. I’m too busy to help.” He said as he paced around.

“But…”Zell trailed off. “I can’t just let the guy go after kidnappin my nieghbor and setting my town on fire!”

“Life happens.” Replied Squall. “There’s nothing we can do about it since he’s escaped…”

“But I know where he’s goin!” said Zell excitedly. “He told me that he was taking her to Esthar! There is definitely something goin on here!”

Squall sighed and held his head. “I still can’t help you. Rinoa and I were going to Matron’s.” he said. “Sorry, maybe Selphie or Quistis can help. Irvine is free too I believe.”

“The Garden won’t reach Esthar till tomorrow. That may be too long to save her.” Said Zell.

“Geeze, he’s trying to save some bratty kid from his town? Too much stress.” Thought Squall.

“Aight man, I’ll see you!”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Never, stop stuffing your face!” commanded Snow as Never sat stuffing hotdogs into his mouth.

“Well we haven’t eaten for like a day! What do you expect for me to do?” he asked chewing on his forth dog.

“You are such a pig.” Said Snow as she grabbed a hotdog off of Never’s plate and began to eat it.

“Hey! That’s mine!” Never said as he stared at the one left on his plate. “ I’ll save this one for later…”

The cafeteria was emptying of students and after a while Never and Snow agreed to just leave with them. The two were fine until Snow stopped walking and went “Omigosh! Zell told us to wait in front of that elevator place over an hour ago!”

Never and Snow scrambled to the entrance of the garden only to discover that their newfound friend was not waiting for them. “Where could he be?” asked Snow.

“I dunno. Wanna go look for him?” asked Never who had been dying to see where the schools giant circular elevator went.

The two stood there in silence for a while. The halls had emptied and lights seemed to be getting dimmer. “It’s too empty in here.” said Snow. “Lets go look for him. Lets start with the Quad.”

“Hey you kids!” went a stalkerish looking man in a big yellow hat and a white tshirt with red overalls. “It’s lights out!”

“Lets go!” said Never as he grabbed Snow and ran towards the Quad.

Something about that man half frightened him.

Chapter 6- Never go to Esthar

“Sorry Zell, No can do.” Said Irvine as he rested his gun on his shoulder staring up at the stars.

The Quad was filled with others waiting for the midnight garden concert to begin. Backstage Irvine stood with Zell. “But we have to! Think of it as another adventure!” said Zell trying to persuade Irvine to help. “I don’t think I can take this guy on all alone!”

We took down Ultimecia, remember?” said Irvine as he plopped down on the stage floor. “Fighting one guy should be a piece of cake for you.”

“But…. That was a long time ago!” Zell said.

“Sorry buddy.” Said Irvine. “Maybe next time.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------

The crowd of students watched as musical acts by others. The out door concert was soft and couples could be seen sitting on the Quad floor watching the performances. The song currently being performed was supposedly called “Eyes on Me” and it was sung by a student in a kareoke fashion. “Is this a talent show?” asked Snow as she walked through the crowd.

“Ugh I dunno but this concert bites.” Moaned Never as he stumbled through the crowd of people both sitting and standing.

“Ya know, not everyone want’s to hear the loud songs you like to listen to.” Said Snow as she found an empty spot that was overlooking the ocean.

“Whatever…” said Never as he joined her, peering over the edge of the school that glided over the ocean. “

“We don’t know a thing about this place.” Said Snow as she gazed across the black ocean. “And with you as a “hero” we’re screwed.”

“Hey! If you keep talking like that I just might not save you if, say, a giant monster attacks.” Never joked.

“Well guess I’m alone in this…”sighed Zell as he came from around the corner.

“Oh! Hey!” said Never as he heard Zell. “Sorry for not staying in the foyer.”

“Huh?!” said Zell as he heard Never. “Oh! I forgot all about you two! Sorry guys. It looks like I’ll have to go after Nelly on my own.”

“Didn’t we tell you that we’re coming with?” asked Snow. “We can do it with just the three of us!”

“Yeah it’s not like we’re completely useless!” said Never.

“Hehe, thanks guys. I’m sorry I just got caught up in the thrill I guess. Our first stop is Esthar.” Zell smiled. “We start travels tomorrow!”

“Great!” said Never.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Never awoke on the floor of the Quad next to Snow. She still slept softly on the hard Quad ground, which seemed to be littered from the night before. “Ugh. Hey Snow, wake up.” Said Never as he stretched.

“Hmh.” Went Snow as she awoke and lifted herself up off the ground. “Did we sleep here last night?”

“Yeah.” Said Never as he saw a city over the balcony. “I think we’re at the Esthar place…”

What Never saw was a city of futuristic proportions. He could see flying things moving about the city. Never had never seen such a sight in his life. Wow,” said Snow catching a view of the futuristic city. “That’s our destination? It looks amazing!”

“Yeah it’s so shiny…like everything else in this world.” Said Never as he ran out of the quad.

“Wait Never!” said Snow who trailed behind him. “Where are you going?!”

“To find Zell! I wanna explore!” Never called back with excitement.

“You can’t just run off like this!” Snow yelled as she ran to keep up. “It’s childlike!”

“Yeah but it’s more fun!” said Never. “You should loosen up a little more!”

Snow chuckled. She had known Never for most of her life and he had always been carefree and immature, but that’s what made the two clash. But it’s the clashing and arguing and teasing that has built their relationship to a strong bond. Snow pondered this as the two met Zell in the gateway, carrying three weird looking boards. “Yo!” said Zell as Never and Snow met up with him at the front gate.

“Heya Zell!” said Never. “Are we leaving for that city now?”

“Yeah, I got you guys T-boards.” Said Zell as he showed the borads to Never and snd Snow. “It beats walking all the way there.”

“Zell! I thought I told you about those!” went the same creepy man with no face, yellow hat and red suspenders.

“Hurry get on, it’s like skating.” Said Zell as he hoped on his T-board, which hovered away.

Never jumped on his and to his surprise, it kept his weight and stayed afloat. “I can’t do it!” Snow furiously said as she fell off her board time and time again.

“Get on mine.” Said Never as he pulled snow upon his board and skated after Zell.

The wind whipped past and the boards soared through it. This kind of technology hadn’t been discovered in Altaria. Never adapted to the board quickly as it sped off from garden. Snow sat on the back of it, holding on for dear life as Never stood in the front, guiding the hover board with his feet.

After what seemed like a half hour the two had finally caught up with Zell. “Hey you two had me waiting for quite a while.”

“Well you can’t just expect us to know how to ride one of these things.” Said Snow as she hoped off completely shaken.

“Ah man, I forgot you’re from a ‘secret place’. Do they not have T-boards there?” said Zell grinning.

“Is that sarcasm?” Never whispered to Snow.

The three travelers had reached the place called Esthar. Zell had begun to find his way through the city when smoke could be seen billowing from blocks away. “Ha! I got him!” said Zell as he ran towards the smoke.

Jolted out of their amazement at how advanced the city was, Never and Snow ran to catch up to Zell…

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The hooded man had gotten another item he had needed. The Odine time ring. All he needed now was to gather two more sorceresses’ in order for his ritual to go according to plan. One of his followers approached him. “We have the girl contained in the Lunar Base sir.” He said. “She was a handful but her powers haven’t fully developed…”

“Good, good Raithe. Now go and join Sarron in getting the other girl.” Said the Hooded man.

“But sir, are you sure you’ll be all right by yourself?” asked the subordinate Raithe.

“What did I tell you about worrying Raithe? It will get you nowhere.” Said the hooded man. “On the meantime I’ve got a date with the sorceress…”

With that the hooded man slipped the Odine time ring upon his finger and disappeared. Leaving Raithe in the burning building alone.
------------------------------------------------------------------

“There are people in there!” shouted a civilian standing outside of the burning laboratories.

A crowed had gathered and Never, Snow and Zell had went to check it out. “He had to have been here, no doubt about it.” Said Zell as he managed to push his way through the crowed.

“Why is he burning buildings? Does he have some kind of burning fetish?” asked Never in wonder.

“I don’t know but he’s going down.” Said Zell as he rumaged through his pockets to pull out what looked like a keychain. “You can summon Leviathan and put out the fires while I go and beat the crap outta that jerk.”

“I want to go inside the building.” Said Never who was eager to fight with his newfound skills.

“I’ll summon it.” Said Snow who grabbed the keychain to examine it. “How do you do it?”

Zell had already ran into the burning building before he could explain it to her and Never went in right behind him…

Chapter 7- Never Feels the Shock

Flames licked every inch of the building as Zell and Never searched throughout. Zell had gone to check one side of the building while Never had checked the other side. They were on the next to highest floor and still hadn’t found the hooded man from before. “Hey! Gotcha!” came Zell’s voice from the other side of the building.

Never quickly ran to it so as to back him up. Never had come to a staircase that led to the roof of the building and heard Zells voice in the distance above. He ran up them to thew roof where he spotted Zell with a man with dark skin and green hair. This man was wearing the same hood as the man before, only his head was fully visible. Zell stood ready to attack and the man stood ready to counter. Smoke from the lower levels of the building were rising. “Oh are you after me?” the man asked.

His hair was long and green and he himself had dark skin. “You must be the nuisance in Balamb correct?” the man asked.

“Where the hell did you take her?!” Zell asked in frustration.

The man smiled and pointed upwards toward the sky. “Hehe! She’s not here.” He chuckled.

Never grasped the Ever sword tightly in his fingers. “Odel, I’m here to take you out!” Never said as he held the sword steadily in his hand.

The weight of the Ever sword felt light and Never felt more skilled in his sword fighting. “I’m not letting you leave this time!” Never shouted over the flames licking away at the structure of the building.

“Odel? Hehe I’m sure my name was Raithe last time I checked” the man with the hood said as he conjured up a weapon of a scythe.

“Well surley you must know who this Odel is?” Never asked.

“Yo, Never, is it this joker Odel who took Nelly?” asked Zell.

“I don’t know…but I bet he knows something.” Said Never lunging at the man with his sword.

Raithe the villain dodged Nevers swing and returned a shock of thunder from his scythe. Never had been caught off guard but in doing so Zell had been able to deliver a vicious kick to the Raithe man’s side. “Ugh!” the green haired man moaned as Zell made contact. “Hehe you’re pretty storng for a kid.” Said the man as he lunged forward towards Zell, sparks eminating from his scythe.

With a mighty slash, Zell had been shocked with electricity. “Dammit!” Zell said as he paused, his body almost paralyzed.

“Shocking isn’t it?” the man named Raithe smiled as he lunged forward for another strike at Zell.

Never hit the scythe just as it was about to come down on Zell’s head. “So you must know who this Odel guy is. Are you one of his henchmen?” Never asked as he struck the electric scythe again.

“Maybe…Maybe not!” Raithe replied as he delivered a powerful kick to Never’s ribs.

Never went down right beside Zell who was regaining movement of his limbs. “Ugh this guy’s tough.” Never gasped as he tugged at his bruised abdomen.

“Well He ain’t seen nothin yet!” Zell smiled. “It’s GF time!”

“GF?” Never asked in wonder…

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“How the heck does this work?” Snow asked in frustration as the crowd outside the burning building began to grow.

“Garden students are coming!” a woman from the crowd of people called.

Sure enough Snow saw uniformed students pushing their way through the crowd. Snow could see that they were led by a girl with brown flippy hair and a short yellow dress. “Over here!” the girl commanded as she found her way through to the front of the building.

“Oh hey!” the girl said as she spotted Snow in front of the building. “Are you a SeeD? I think I saw you in Garden earlier.”

“Oh! Umm. I’m not a seed or whatever. I’m just waiting for my friends. They’re in this building and they told me to-”

“Hold on to that thought a sec.” The girl went as she pointed at the building and directed the Garden students. “Start casting!”

The students then turned to the building and began glowing green at the feet. They all shouted “Water!” and water began to appear almost out of nowhere towards the burning building. “Okay so you’ve got friends inside this building?” the girl asked Snow. “It’s pretty weak and the structure could give away, though luckily it’s pretty sturdy in Esthar…”

“Yes but, I was told to summon this.” Snow said as she showed the girl the keychain Zell had given her.

“Oh! A GF. Is this your first time summoning one?” asked the girl excitedly. “I’ll show you how, my name’s Selphie by the way!”

“Oh thanks! Ha! My name’s Snow!” Snow said as she continued to look at the keychain.

“Okay just watch me…”

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“IFRIT!” Zell shouted holding up a ring.

In a flash Zell had disappeared from Never’s view. Never looked confused seeing his enemy Raithe was looking in all directions. Then Never looked down and to his surprise his body was completely invisible. As this happened a devil appeared out from a hole in the ground and blasted Raithe with a giant boulder of fire. Seeing this Never was stunned. His eyes were dazzled.

“Wow…” Never said as the demonic creature disappaered.

“I know, sweet huh?” Zell said as he reappeared. “My most useful GF!”

“Really! That guy must be toast!” Never said.

“Don’t hold your breath.” Raithe said as he emerged from the flames, his clothes burned from the summons attack. “Kyeah!”

Raithe let out a blast of electricity from his scythe. Never jumped and dodged and while in midair flipped forward towards Raithe until he was just close enough to smack the Ever sword down like a hammer.

Raithe dodged the attack by jumping back but had gotten clocked on the side of the head by Zell’s fist and as Raithe stumbled Never saw his chance and swung the Ever sword onto the man’s midsection.

Raithe had gotten wounded badly and fell in a clump on the ground. “Where is Odel?” Never asked as he pointed his sword towards Raithe’s throat.

“Hehe. You think I’m defeated?” coughed the robed man on the ground. “You haven’t seen my best attack!”

With that Raithe touched the ground and pumped volts of electricity into it. Never could feel the shocks flowing through his body. It felt as if a thousnd knives were stabbing him all over at once. “Agh!” Zell screamed in pain.

The building began to glow a bright blue and the shocks became more intense. “Hahahaha!” Raithe screamed. “You feel the shock?!”

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Like this?” Snow asked as she tried to summon the GF from the keychain.

“No-no-no. You’re focusing too hard.” Selphie said. “You have to feel it inside you. Communicate with your mind, connect with the GF.”

Snow had been practicing summoning her GF for minutes and had gotten nothing. “Maybe I’m just not cut out for this?” Snow said defeated.

“It happens all the time!” Selphie smiled. “Try it one more time!”

Snow did as she was told and closed her eyes to concentrate. She tried to call out to the guardian inside the key chain. As she did this she heard a sound. Snow opened her eyes to behold the shock, as there was a bright circle in front of her. A snakelike creature seemed to be slithering out of it.

“You did it!” Selphie said hopping in praise. “And it’s Leviathan! Just perfect!”

The burning building then began to glow with a blue light. “What do I do now?” asked Snow in confusion.

The giant water serpent stood beside her, gazing at Snow with its small blue eyes. “Give it a command!” Selphie said.

“Okay then…” Snow said turning to the giant water snake.

Pointing at the building she commanded: “Go put out that fire with water!”

At first the snake did nothing but stare but after a while it understood and conjured up a giant wave as tall as the building itself. The wave knocked against the building letting water spill into the windows. The electric however began to amplify and in minutes the building exploded!

“Never!” Snow screamed in worry.

A creaking sound could be heard and the Leviathan Gf had disappeared. The building no longer glowing in blue had begun to collapse.

Chapter 8- Never Launch

“Don’t know what would have happened if Leviathan hadn’t come!” Zell spoke as he walked through the Esthar plains with Never and Snow.

“Yeah we would have been dead for sure…” Never mumbled, still aching from the fight. “But after that giant wave came it distracted his attention and we we’re able to get out just in time.”

“Get out? More like fall off the edge of a building to me.” Snow corrected.

“Yeah but at least I know where Nelly is…” said Zell as he took another swig from a blue bottle. “And that’s all that matters.”

“Yeah and that Raithe guy…He must be where Odel is.” Never said.

The wind blew gently for a while as the three of them and Cheep traveled the two miles towards the next destination. “Well,” began Snow. “At least I learned how to summon a GF!”

“OH yeah!” Never realized as Snow stared at her keychain which held Leviathan. “Where can I get one of those Zell?”

“Oh…Uh, you find em… You can give them to different people.” Said Zell thinking. “ Unfortunately I already gave my extra to Snow. Leviathan’s already got a strong bond with her.”

“Strong bond?” Snow asked in wonder.

Never ran and snatched Snow’s keychain. “Now, let’s see, how does this thing work?”

“Never!”

“If you want it back you have to take it!” Never said as he ran towards the Esthar Airstation dead ahead.

Balamb Garden could be seen even further in the distance. Smiling realizing the game Never had begun Zell ran after him. “I’ll get cha!” Zell said smiling foolishly.

“Hey!” Snow said running after Zell.

The three ran towards the airstation, the wind icking up even more and the air feeling fresh on their faces. Never felt like having fun at the time. Zell felt alive again for the first time in months. Snow felt both cautious and carefree. She wished Never could be a little more serious sometimes.

Zell finally caught up to Never right before they reached the Airstation, tackling him to the ground in a playful manner. Never struggled to get free but Snow came in from behind and scooped up the Leviathan keychain. “Ha! Looks like you’ll never be able to get one now!” Snow smiled.

The three chuckled at this silly statement. From here on Never and Snow considered Zell a good friend and he felt the same.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

“Oh! Can we go up into space instructor Trepe?!” one of the smaller Balamb Garden students asked.

“Maybe when you’re a SeeD you can work for them later on.” The woman named Ms. Trepe responded. “Remember that this is a class trip. You are not to touch anything that goes on here.”

The young students of Balamb Garden Military Academy all led by Ms. Trepe went to watch the space pods from the air station Blast off into the air. They were amazed, although Ms. Trepe, however, had other things to think about, such as her future. Balamb garden had always been her home, but she began thinking recently if teaching was what she really wanted to do.

She looked up at the hopeful students in wonder about their class trip. Her students were so smart and full of energy. She began to wonder if she taught them correctly. Suddenly she spotted a familiar friend entering the launch base. “Zell!” she called waving.

“Quistis! Hey!” Zell responded as he heard her.

He was accompanied by two strange looking people. Why is that one kid dressed like a grapefruit? Quistis wondered. “Hey! How’ve you been?” Zell asked.

“Oh, just the usual.” Quistis responded. “The class is on a field trip today…”

“Ah, garden work.” Zell muttered. “Hey do you happen to know if we can score a ship from the Lunar base?”

Quistis replied to Zell with a questioning look. She then looked at Never in question and then glazed over at Snow. “Oh!” Zell said when he saw her response. “This is Never and Snow. They’re helping me with something.”

“Something you would need to go to space for?” Quistis replied in a suspicious tone.

Zell wouldn’t just up and go to space with two strangers, Quistis thought. “Hey! Miss Trepe! Lawrence is trying to get into the pods!” one of the garden students called out.

“Oh! Gotta go!” Quistis said in a hurry as she rushed towards the pods in the launch pads.

“So…Is that your girl friend?” Never asked.

“Never!” Snow said in a scolding tone

Zell smiled at the thought. Of course Quistis was not his type, but he suddenly realized he had bigger things to worry about. “Never mind that…” said Zell pointing to the sky. “It’s time to get to our new destination.”

----------------------------------------------------------------

Squall’s Gunblade stabbed the air as a crystal-like ice structure came hurtling towards him. “Yeagh!” he shouted in rage as the ice shard split, falling to the grund before it reached him.

The man whom he fought was big and powerful. He was dressed in a black cloak and carried an axe in battle, which he held at the ready. Squall didn’t know who this man was, but he wanted answers. “Where the hell did you take her?” Squall shouted in frustration.

“It’s okay…” The man said in a soft tone. His skin was waxy and pale, his hair being short and red. “She’s going to serve a greater purpose.”

“What the hell are you talking about?” Squall screamed in rage as he rushed towards the man, gunblade at the ready while conjuring up a spell.

“You just don’t get it…” the man replied as he swung the axe which created a great gust of chilly wind which blew Squall backwards and onto the ground. “We’ll return her when we are finished.”

The two men stood in a field of flowers. A nearby ship was parked and ready to take off. “Leave him alone!” a woman who ran the nearby orphanage screamed as she ran towards Squall.

“No Matron, stay back!” Squall said as he got up. “Hehehe! No YOU just don’t get it.”

Squall raised his gunblade towards the man. “You give her back to me right now.” Squall commanded.

The man in the black cloak gave the signal to his comrade in the nearby ship who began to fire up the engines. “No!” Squall gasped as he leapt. “LION_HEART!”

Squall had leapt into overdrive, he slashed and gashed as hard as he could at the cloaked man who stood in his way. Each slice of his gunblade cut deeper, each pull of the trigger induced more blood. Finally after Squall stopped the man he was hacking at froze…

First it started out as a giggle, then fits of laughter came afterwards. “You cannot cut me.” The man said as he revealed his wounds, ripping the chest part of his cloak to reveal a bluish crystallized body underneath. “I cannot bleed. The mighty Sarron cannot be stopped!”

As he said this, the man ran towards the ship, which was already feet off the ground. The huge man leapt onto it as it flew away. Squall sank to his knees in anger. He would find them.

“Squall, what happened?!” the woman called Matron asked as she ran to his aid.

“They took Rinoa.” He replied dryly.

Giza’s Dimension: The Time in Between

Nyere couldn’t see himself for a moment. His vision was blurry but only for a moment. He opened his eyes to find himself in the place of purple skies and stars. He began to recognize the place as where he was before with Never and Snow…

“Never!” Nyere said out loud.

“It’s okay Erey. Never’s gone to another dimension.” The old wizard Giza said as he coughed in his sleeve. “He’s helping me.”

Nyere held his forhead. It began to pulse furiously. “Where is Never?! Where did you send him?” Nyere asked furiously.

“Why do you care where Never is? You have an even bigger role in this than you realize.” Giza replied sternly.

The old wizard examined Nyere closely, scanning him up and down. “Maybe you have loose screws…” the old man grumbled.

Giza had become worried. His creation spoke way too much of Never, almost as if he actually were… “Erey…maybe I should reprogram…” the wizard mumbled.

“My name’s Nyere.” Nyere spoke concerned for the old man’s sanity.

Nyere spotted a nearby Sword that resembled the one he saw Never received earlier. Without speaking, he grabbed it and aimed it at the old man. “Take me to my brother.” He said sternly.

Giza, with a terrified expression, created a portal to another world has he had done before. The gate was just big enough, and Nyere stepped through, determined to find his brother and Snow and bring them back home…

Chapter 9 – Never of the Stars

Never opened his eyes and found himself in the same pod in which he blasted off to the Lunar base in. he seemed to be floating, weightless in the cramped pod. He soon saw the top of the pod opened and an arm reaching to grab him. He grabbed onto it as it pulled him out into a beige compartment, where Snow and Zell stood waiting. The man who helped him out was an unfamiliar man with a blank expression on his face. Zell motioned for Snow and Never to follow him as he left for the next room.

“Is this…outer space?” Snow asked as they reached the second room.

As they did, it seemed that the gravity had returned, letting Never and the others regain their footing. “Well what else do you think this is?” Never asked in a it’s-obvious tone.

“Cheeep!” went the mouse that Never had forgotten about until this moment. “Cheepurs!”

“Well we’re here in the Lunar Base.” Zell said with his arms outstretched. “But now to serious matters…”

Zell had left the room to speak with others on the ship. Never looked outside of a nearby window out at the stars. They somehow didn’t feel any closer than what he thought. “Oh! Look at the moon!” Snow said in amazement.

The moon had shown white as ever in the blackness of space. But there was one spot in a crater particular that looked like an odd building. “We’re in space in another world…Nyere is gonna freak!” Never said as he smiled about the thought f his older brother’s reaction.

“Yeah! He’d get really concerned for us…” Snow paused to think as she blushed at the thought.

Never saw her and shoved her playfully. “You know he’s probably more concerned with me as we’re related. If you die he probably won’t ca-“

At this moment Never hadn’t seen the fist that was flying at him which hit him square in the jaw. “Maybe he’ll care more if I threaten your life.” Snow replied threateningly.

“Dammit Snow!” Never said ass he wiped is jaws pain away. “You’re such a weird creep: getting all abusive when I mention Nyere.”

“Never..” Snow replied in heated tones.

“Then again, maybe it’s how you let out your sexual tension…”

Snow then threw another fist, but it was caught quickly by Zell who smiled and said “Leave all that for the battlefield. We’ve got recon to do.”

~ Moon Base ~

The hooded man paced his room inside his team’s hideout. The two witches would soon be arriving to be put into position. He paced and paced and then got it! He equipped his finest sword and hilt and grabbed the time ring. He didn’t know where the time ring would carry him but he knew what he was going back to get.

The hooded man placed the ring upon his finger and disappeared…

~Lunatic Pandora 1 year prior~

All senses erased, the space around him was rushing, the hooded man was holding onto his cloak and sword hilt for safety until finally he re-materialized into a familiar place. If he remembered correctly it was the inside of Lunatic Pandora. The chamber in which the man stood was large and cavernous. He walked around until finally he spotted her resting, the sleeping sorceress Adel…

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

~Amestris (FMA world)~

Nyere found himself wandering a dark alley. The city in which he wandered was dark and cold. “Where is Never?” Nyere wondered as he searched.

His brother had been nowhere in sight for the past five hours he had searched. Nyere held the sword he had taken from the time mage Giza. The sword had become black as the sky, it’s power seemingly emanating from it. “You look lost.” Came a voice from behind.

Nyere turned in haste. He spotted no one in sight. “Up here.” came the female’s voice from atop a nearby building.

The moon was not out so Nyere couldn’t see her clearly. He held the sword firmly in his hand, waiting for a threat. The woman jumped down and landed perfectly on her two feet gazing at Nyere with the cruelest intent. She had a busty figure with long black hair. She was a fairly beautiful woman. “You wanna come with me?” she asked.

FF 8 world

“So apparently a ship has been stolen from this base…” Zell said. “We can’t go anywhere from here, we’re sitting ducks…”

“Maybe there’s a way to find these bad guys…Maybe the bad guys were the ones to steal the ship!” Snow suggested.

“But how can we get to them?” Zell asked. “I doubt the Lunar base crew would let us just borrow a ship seeing as one’s already been stolen…”

“Well it’s not hard figuring out what to do right?” Never said.

Zell and Snow turned to Never in confusion. They had thought up all they could. “Never, we don’t know where the girl even is! I don’t know if she’s even in space!” said Snow.

“Don’t forget we also don’t know if the guy we’re chasing is actually this Odel guy.” Never reminded.

“So how would you say it’s not hard figuring it out?” Snow asked.

Never gave her a grin. “I can feel them.” Never simply replied. “At first I wasn’t sure of it at first but, the more I get closer to our target, the more the Ever sword becomes closer to me.”

“I don’t get it.” Zell said.

“Ever since I got this sword there’s been this feeling that there are two other voices in my head. At first I’ve been ignoring them, but at we’ve been progressing, they’ve been getting louder.” Never explained. “I think they are the voices of this sword…”

“That’s ridiculous.” Snow said out of skepticism. “There’s no way you can talk to a hunk of steel and whatever else that things made of.”

“Well it could be the magic Nyere was talking about.” Never said trying to persuade Snow.

“It sounds like some kind of GF to me.” Zell said obviously not knowing the origin of the Ever sword.

“But anyway, like I was saying, we’re definitely going in the right direction.” Never assured the two.

“Hey! C1-76 is flying towards the moon!” shouted one of the Lunar Base astronauts.

“Yea! That’s the ship! We have to go after it!” another person on the crew said.

“And that’s our cue!” said Never. “Follow me!”

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lunatic Pandora 1 year prior

The hooded man evaded the meteor spell as it came flying towards him. He had been fighting the awakened Sorceress for a while now, trying to capture her if only for a second. Sorceress Adel began to swipe at the hooded man and he got his chance as he adjusted the time ring and grabbed onto her. He was going to pull her into the future along with him. Reacting in shock, the sorceress quit struggling. The surroundings around her began to peel away and a new setting had taken it’s place.

~Moon Base~

“What is this?” She boomed in a loud voice.

“I have taken you to the future, my dear Ancestor.” The hooded man said.

“The future?! It is here I shall take out my revenge then!” Adel said as she began to conjure up another spell.

“Hold it.” The hooded man said. “ I am your flesh and blood…but also, I have brought you something that can make you stronger. Only after you absorb their power can you become whole again.”

Adel’s eyes began to shine as she heard this. She had been imprisoned for such a long time. She had to make the human’s pay…"Here, take this.” The hooded man said as he handed the sorceress an orb. “It contains all of your magical power.”

The sorceress grabbed it and examined it close up. “But wait! My power rests within me!” she boomed.

The man smirked at her. “Not for long.” He said with a grin as the orb had begun to take effect.

It was taking away her magic, her whole being. Adel could feel herself being drained from the inside, but had no strength to let the thing go. It was too late: she had been tricked! She tried to speak as she began to fade away. She mouthed the words: I’ll get you. In the end, Adel faded into nothingness and the orb fell to the ground, now filled with a new energy… The hooded man laughed maniacally as he picked it up and examined it. HE now had three sorceress’! He would be the most powerful one now!

The small ship wobbled as the pilot flew after the stolen Lunar base ship. “How did you cook this one up Never?” Snow whispered.

“It was easy, I just said we were a secret police sent after the thieves of the ship!” Never said smiling back.

“That’s ridiculous!” said Snow “Who would believe that excuse?!”

Never looked back at the pilot and again at Snow. “Obviously…” he said. “If you get a message from a purple person, anything’s possible I guess.”

“Try not to fly too close.” Zell told the pilot. “We don’t want to make them seem like we’re following em.”

The ship followed behind quietly in the dead of space towards the moon where the stolen ship was headed. Never gazed out of the window at the stars. The voices in his head had to be coming from the Ever sword. They were not speaking to him at this very moment, but he felt that he needed confirmation that he was headed in the right direction…

Rinoa struggled to fight against the ropes that bound her. She had been kidnapped by two, powerful, strange men in black robes. They had bound her and threw her in a cage on the back of a cargo ship. She didn’t know where she was headed and even tried to use the magic she had gained from being a sorceress herself, but her attempts had failed.

Rinoa had no way of knowing for sure what would happen to her or why she was captured. The ship in which she sat bound rattled and shook in violent jerks. A door opened in the cargo shaft and a man with red hair and pale skin entered, smiling. “Hehe! We’re here!” Said the man with a malice grin.

“What are you doing?!” Rinoa shouted in anger as the man opened the cage and forcfully dragged her out.

“I’m not gonna hurt you.” The man said and he held Rinoa’s arm tightly and walked her out of the ship. “We only brought you here for your help.”

Rinoa looked at the place she was at, it was a big and white sleek looking place. As she gazed out a nearby window, she could see nothing but blackness and stars. “Space?” she asked outloud.

“Keep walkin!” commanded the man.

“Yo!” came a voice from the opposite side of the hall.

Rinoa knew that voice! She glanced over in a shove of desperation and shouted out for help. “Zell! Help!”

Zell stepped off the other ship from Lunar base along with Never and Snow. “And what are we up to?” he asked with a grin.

Chapter 10 Never Alone

“Zell! Help!” Rinoa shouted as she struggled with the big hooded man.

The hooded man who held her, named Sarron with red hair and pale complexion held Rinoa firmly as he backed away slowly. Another hooded man then came from the stolen ship and blocked the path between Zell and Rinoa. It was the same man Zell and Never had fought earlier. The man caught one glimpse of Zell and Never and readied his scythe.

“What? You want a fight already?” Zell Smirked.

“3 against one doesn’t sound so fair.” Never smirked.

Zell and Snow had rushed forward to the hooded electric man named Raithe. Zell threw a punch while Snow, with a pole she had found from earlier, watched the man as he dodged Zell’s punch. “Hehehe!” Raithe laughed as he pulled down his hood, revealing his dark skin and green hair. “You thought my last attacks were bad? This is my domain! You can win here!”

Raithe swung his scythe around, making Zell and Snow duck in just the right time to avoid being decapitated. “Agh!” Snow gasped in surprise.

“ZELL!” Rinoa screamed in her last attempt to be heard, but the man dragging her deeper into the building until finally getting to a large door with marks and carvings on the outside.

“Enough with you!” the man holding her screamed as he threw her inside and locked the door…

-----------------------------------------------------------------

“Eagh!” Never yelled as he lunged at Raithe from the air as Snow and Zell distracted him from below.

Raithe spotted him and jolted to the right as Never’s sword came down with a mighty weight of pure strength.

Never missed, but this was what he wanted. He jolted past Raithe and towards where the man holding Rinoa went. “Never!” shouted Snow in worry.

“I’m going to look for Odel!” Never shouted back at her as he ran, he knew Snow and Zell could take care of the electric man.

Snow had never fought a battle before. She mostly supported Zell whenever he went in for an attack. Raithe shout out lightning from his scythe and Zell dodged out of the way just in time to return a kick which had been blocked by Raithe’s scythe. Raithe slashed at Zell warningly hoping to cut something vital, but Zell’s reflexes were much faster than the long swing of the scythe. “Hehe! What’s wrong girl? Afraid?” he asked as he swung his scythe Snow’s way.

She dodged and rolled in time but couldn’t get the hang of the flow of battle just yet. Just then as Raithe let out a jolt of electricity towards Zell, Snow arose from the ground in a dash and landed a stab in the chest with her pole. Raithe stumbled back and Snow saw her chance. She landed another blow towards Raithes head, and then another jab in his ribs. Raithe showed looks of pain and began to chuckle. “You’re too week girl.” He said as he grabbed Snow by the neck.

“Aaaaaaaaagh!”

He then sent out a jolt of electricity through his hand and watched as Snow screamed in pain. Zell aimed a punch at his head, but was slashed at with Raithe’s scythe. Snow went limp in the man’s hand and fell to the ground motionless. Zell observed this and then looked at Raithe and then back at Snow. “You…you…” Zell went charging at Raithe with all his might. “You bastard! Never hit a girl!”

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Never sneezed as he ran through the halls in order to search for the enemy called Odel. The giant white fortress was larger than he expected. He was now in a wide hall with windows showing the simple view of space. And eyed the many doors and chambers that lined the opposite side of the hall. He couldn’t possibly check them all just in time, but he had to try. Running down the hall he was stopped by the man holding Rinoa earlier. The hooded man walked calmly towards Never until he was a great distance away. He smiled at Never in a taunting way.

“So?” Never asked as he stopped and grasped his sword. “You mind telling me the way to Odel?”

The hooded man smiled at this. Never saw and was pleased with the reaction. “You do know what I’m talking about don’t you?” he said.

The man stretched out his hands and something in blue began to materialize out of thin air. Never stood quietly as the man stood silently concentrating. Never wouldn’t wait for this bulky man to attack. He lunged towards the man whose eyes widened at this bold attempt and swung the Ever sword in midair. The man blocked it with his halfway-materialized ice axe. “There’s no rush, you can die later.” The man said as he grabbed Never before he could land on the ground.

Never was stuck in the man’s grip and the hooded man got excited as he swung his axe towards Never. A shock greeted him, however as the axe made contact with Never’s cloak. The man named Sarron let Never go in shock as he hadn’t expected that surprise. Before Sarron could react again Never swung the Ever sword at his waist which the man blocked again with his Axe made of ice. “Don’t you have any other techniques?” Never asked getting annoyed.

Sarron then came charging at Never with his axe, swinging in fury. Never backed away in lightning speed holding his sword as a shield hoping to not get hit. “Gah!” Never gasped as he jumped when the axe came swinging at his feet.

He kept the sword in front of him in midair as the ice axe struck it repeatedly keeping him airborne and shifting all his weight onto the sword. As another strike by Sarron came onto him, Never flipped forward in midair and came down behind Sadrron where he unleashed a furious stab of the Ever sword. Sarron gasped as the sword entered his body, but did not feint.

“Ha! You can’t kill me that easily!” he said as He then swung his axe with a brute force that seemed to come from nowhere. Never acted quickly and blocked the heavy blow with his sword thinking of a way to counter. He heard a crack and then began to worry. He glanced at the Ever sword to find a series of cracks forming. The sword was breaking. He then clutched his head as he heard the two voices of Ever echoing in his head. “Let us out!” one argued.

“Please! Don’t get hurt!” went the other voice.

“Shut up!” Never said aloud clutching his now throbbing forehead.

How was he supposed to concentrate when they were distracting him? “Heh! Getting tired?” asked Sarron as he walked over to Never who now stood on his knees bearing the pain. He was all alone with nobody to help him. Maybe doing this was stupid he thought as he close his eyes.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Zell and Raithe moved swiftly thorough the foyer ducking and dodging each others blows. The two seemed evenly matched. Raithe then shocked Zell with yet another jolt of electricity. The pilot who had flown him and the others here had gone to get backup from Lunar base SeeDs who would be arriving in a short moment’s notice. Zell had already summoned Ifrit but it had done no difference, as Raithe seemed to be flame resistant now.

“Getting tired?” Raithe taunted as he let loose another electric jolt, which Zell avoided.

“You wish!” Zell responded as he dived for Raithe’s legs and with a sweeping kick Raithe went down. He hit the ground hard and Zell lept on top of him, but was blocked by Raithe’s scythe and shocked with an electrical current…

Snow’s eyes crept open slowly as she focused on what was going on around her. She could see Zell and Raithe fighting a small distance away from her. She tried to move her limbs but they proved to be of no use as she did not lift up off the ground. Snow felt paralyzed and no matter how hard she struggled, her body would not respond. She desperately wanted to help Zell and began to think of a way.

She then thought of Leviathan and began to think about what Selphie had taught her earlier: Clear her mind and she would be able to summon him. Snow kept her eyes locked on the battle and focused as hard as she could. It wasn’t easy summoning a GF but she was willing to try all she could to focus on calling Leviathan.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Rinoa glared at the mysterious man who stared at her through his hood. A little girl also stood in the room with her. A large snake stood slithering silently at the end of the huge circular room. It looked like an opera theater to her. The small girl looked confused and scared. She also stared at the man just like Rinoa.“So two sorceresses stand before me.” The hooded man spoke softly. “Would you care to be a part of something bigger?”

Rinoa didn’t like the looks of things. She felt terrified of this man and his group of robed men. She backed away towards the door. “No, I don’t.” she said defiantly.

The hooded man smiled. “Your powers are mine to control….together we shall achieve something greater!” he said as the snake slithered towards him.

The small girl stood petrified of the man and the snake. The snake lunged at the small girl and Rinoa screamed “NO!” as it sunk it’s fangs deep into the girl’s shoulder.

"EEEEEK!" The little girl screamed out in pain.

The snake heard her and then went slithering towards her in a fast movement. She screamed and turned the doorknob handle as much as she wanted, but the door was locked and there was nowhere to go.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

A small purple smoke had begun to appear as Never tried to ignore the Ever sword's voices from his head. He shook them off and steadied his sword. “I wont give up!” he said as he swung his sword threateningly at Sarron who leapt back in surprise.

Nevers head twitched occasionally as the voices got louder. “LET ME OUT!” commanded one of them.

“YOU CAN DO IT NEVER!” shouted the other.

They had become impossible for him to ignore, but he had to keep fighting. The purple smoke had been getting thicker in one particular area and Never used it to his advantage. He motioned for Sarron to make his move and as soon as Sarron lunged toward him with his giant ice axe, Never leapt in the thick purple smoke and sliced at Sarron from inside of it. His tactic seemed to be working, but the smoke had begun to clear. “Thanks Matron.” Came a voice from right beside Never.

“What the?” Never asked in surprise as there was a man about the same age as he holding a blade with a gun handle and an angry look upon his face. “Who are you?”

The man gazed at Never for a second and seeing the purple boy and his sword he mumbled “Squall” before he ran off towards Sarron to deliver a fresh attack upon Never’s opponent.

“Where’s Rinoa?” demanded Squall.

Sarron took this question with a smile. “It’s too late. Odel may have gotten her by now…” he replied.
