What do I have to say about this boss's power level?

IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAAAND!

Not kidding. The Yu Pagodas are constantly healing him, and the only ones that can get (temporarily) rid of them are aeon overdrives.

The main white mage is my group is actually Wakka, as he has Holy and had more powerful healing spells than Yuna. (I messed up on Yuna's sphere grid, so she only has cure)

Anyway, everyone, including the aeons, are in overdrive. Lulu just doublecasts flare every turn, and Yuna summons her aeons, but before you know it, they're all dead.

I got Anima thinking I would win the battle using her. Wrong. I still lost, but it made things a lot easier.

So does anyone have any idea about what I should do? What party would work best? (I usually use Lulu, Wakka, and Yuna until Lulu runs out of MP, and then I switch her out with Auron)

Any help would be very greatly appreciated! :tighthug:

You might need to go round the sphere grid abit more or something, I don't think I ever struggled that bad on him. I think you can affact his stats slightly by having Yuna & Tidus to talk to him, other than that I just hacked away at him til he died =/

Did you get the celestial weapons?

I generally just used Wakka Auron and Yuna, Wakkas attack reels are made of win, Magus sisters in overdrive mode should be a great help aswel

Work on the Pagodas until they are down, then chip away at Jecht, then as soon as one of the Pagodas is back, get rid of it, then back to Jecht.

He'll soon fall.

Loving the Vegeta reference btw. :monster:

Your actual party sounds fine - if not ideal. I suppose you're using the regular defensive buffs?

Jecht uses mainly magic-based attacks, so you might want to have a quick blast in Omega Dungeon before taking this boss on. If you've not faced much of the dungeon: it's worth it, and the training you obtain there is invaluable and time saving.

Might want to protect yourself against Petrification, as [I'm sure you're aware by now] one of his attacks inflicts this. If it's not a problem, meh, use the armour slot for something nifty like Auto-Haste and such-like.

What're your general HP / defensive stats at? You'll want to hit him hard enough so that the Yu Pagoda's healing turns don't impact your ability severely, but it's not essential to plough him down with something ridiculous like 8000 per hit.

For the most part, it's hack, slash, heal, repeat. He's not a complex boss, so you shouldn't find him all that challenging. Using all your Aeons' Overdrives on him will be useful if he's getting on your tits.

As far as I know talking to him only lowers his Overdrive gauge. Don't think it lowers his defense or anything though.

Not the most ideal of tactics. The Pagodas get a rather large surge of HP once they're revived until they eventually hit 99,999 HP, so you'd just be wasting valuable time that could otherwise be spent hammering Jecht.

Auron does around 6500 each turn, which is actually 3500 points of damage with the Yu Pagodas healing him for around 1500 HP each.

Lulu does about double that amount of damage with doublecasting flare, and it's not even worth bringing Tidus in except for hasting and slowing. -__- Kimahri and Rikku are useless, too.

I think I'll just keep training Yuna until Anima gets enough strength to take him out. I usually get past his first form, but only last about a minute with his second form, meaning I have to go back and collect those crystals. Again.

And for anyone who wants to know, I have none of the celestial weapons. :P I've heard getting the best weapons on this game is really difficult, so I'm not going to spend another week trying to avoid bolts of lightning.

Thanks for all the help everyone! :tighthug:

You haven't mentioned using it, so I'd recommend Hastega be cast - Auron and Lulu are typically slow, so quickening their pace would be a great asset to you... naturally. ;p

The damage you're dealing doesn't seem to be the problem, but your ability to withstand him appears to be. How much does he hit you for, approximately? He shouldn't put you in horrendous situations easily, unless you fuck up - do you put off healing 'til last minute or something?

A quick way to gain AP, is to obtain the Earth Eater - that gives you 60 Three Stars. With this, make two weapons with the ability 'Triple AP'. Then capture a Cacteur, and continuously fight it in the Monster Arena.

One thing though, why don't you use Tidus? Blitz Ace is the second best character overdrive in the game.

Another trick I used was Rikku's Mix. (Doesn't matter if you trained her or not - just switch out another member) Mix one Wing to Discovery with a Lv 4 Key Sphere. This gives you 'Trio of 9999'. To obtain the wings, race at Remium Temple, and open 3 chests during the race. You'll gain 30, which is enough for the Break HP Limit ability. Afterwards, every attack will deal 9999 damage. Knowing this, you could use a Water Gem which would deal 50,000 damage in one turn, however you'll need to learn 'Use' first.

As Saix said, your damage output is fine, just that the recieved damage is your bane. I recommend obtaining Shinryuu - this gives you 30 Megalixirs. To acquire him, catch two of every underwater fiend in Mount Gagazet's Cavern.

Didn't have it. xP I never use overdrives except in boss battles anyway, even though I know that you get more overdrives by using them more often.

Anyway, I beat the game. :ohshit: I managed to beat him by using aeon overdrives, and I used Anima's on the second form, doing 99,999 damage, which helped A LOT. I didn't even have a character die, I just kept summoning and I was able to do it.

Thanks for all the help everyone! It really helped! :tighthug:
