I just can't beat Necron. I try and try and try, but he just kicks my ass with Grand Cross! Please help someone!

First of all, you'll get your ass kicked if your levels are not at the very least in their mid-seventies. Next, equip everyone's untimate weapon:
Zidane: Ultima weapon, found in Chocobo sidequest.
Steiner: Ragnarok or Excalibur, whichever you have.
Vivi: Mace of Zeus, found near end of Memoria.
Dagger: Whale Whisker, found in Chocobo sidequest.
Amarant: Rune claws, found in Memoria.
Freya: Dragon's hair, found in Chocobo sidequest.
Eiko: I used Angel flute, but you could also equip the Tiger Racket. better attack power.
Quina: if you have him, Gastro Fork, recieved after defeating Quale.
Equip all magic people with Robe of Lords. better protection.
Support abilities: Clear headed, body temp, antibody, jelly, locomotion, loudmouth. he also can throw in Zombie, Doom, and Death, so look out. Grand Cross does kill your HP as well, so be sure to heal often. IF SOMEONE IS A ZOMBIE, DON'T HEAL THEM. that'll kill them.
follow this and you should beat Necron. I found him challenging, but not nearly as tough as Ozma.

Oh, i forgot something: if you have dark matter, use it. It damages Necron 9999.
