so the playoff start in about a week, so who do you think will win the championship or are rooting for?

i think the pistons or the bulls will win it all(probably the only one who thinks this). best case scenarion is the pistons end up with the 8th seed and challenge the cavs. i personally think the cavs are overrated eventhough they could end up with the best record in the league. pistons could totally beat them. and the bulls with the 6th seed and they could beat the magic. that way it will be bulls vs pistons in the eastern final and then ill be guarantee a team to play in the final

The NBA is dead to me.

The only thing I root for in the NBA is that the Bennett City Hijackers, Kevin Durant's soon-to-be-former team, lose every game they play.

(No one's beating the Lakers in the West, no one's beating the Cavs in the East, unless KG can shake off his knee injury soon enough to get back to 80+% effectiveness. Lakers over Cavs in 7 in a classic Finals. That I won't watch. Because the NBA no longer exists.)

let me guess, you're from seattle or a seattle sonics fan.

i feel bad for you becasue i actually expect okc to do well shortly especially if they draft hasheem thabeet with the first overall pick because thats the only postion they need.

Correct on both counts. Well, sort of. I grew up about 45 minutes south of Seattle.

Thabeet's a stiff. He'll get eaten up at the NBA level. He's more Shawn Bradley than Alonzo Mourning. The best shot blockers in the league are guys like Marcus Camby and Ben Wallace - athletic guys who can play solid man-to-man defense and get their blocks coming off the ball from the weakside for help defense. Thabeet's vulnerable to a guy like Al Jefferson, KG, or even a healthy Greg Oden, who will post him up, attack his body and not allow him space to block the shot. And Thabeet's body won't hold up for 82 games.

They'll draft Blake Griffin. They'd be crazy not to. If that slimy mofo Bennett lives up to his greedy nature, he'll demand it for the ticket sales revenue alone.

I hate Clay Bennett. I hate him and I hate his face.

i don't think thabeet is as stiff as bradley, i think he's athlethic enough to be able to play in the league. yeah he probably need to add some muscle, but pretty much every big man need to add muscle growing from college to pro. but its gonna be fun seeing his face yao ming, just becasue its probably the first time he faces someone taller than him.

yeah okc probably should take griffin because of the home crowd thing, but they don't need him, or i don't think they need him. thabeet is a better fit, but griffin is the home favorite.

anyway, atleast the bulls is moving up and hopefully they'll get the 6th seed, rather play magic than celtics. this could set up to be a fun playoff if everything goes how it should with pistons and bulls winning, or it could actually suck if somehow pistons and bulls lose in the first round

Who will win the NBA Championship? You're Portland Trailblazers of course. Ok, so probably not, but I think that Roy, Rudy, Aldridge and Outlaw take the Blazers to the second round, or perhaps even the Western Conference Finals before bowing to the eventual NBA champions (either the Lakers or the Rockets). And look for the Blazers to win it all in 2-3 years

Im a raptors fan, but considering they suck imma go with mavericks. The germinator. I think theyre gunna play lakers first round. if they win one game ill be happy :D.

Ps. i think in a few years the trail blazers will be the next lakers of cavs

As a respectable California resident, I have to go with the Lakers to win the playoffs in the West as well as in the nation. I think the Cavs are going to run the West, so that the Finals are going to be jam-packed with actions.

That being said:

Don't count out the Heat or the Magic in the East. The Celtics are pretty much done. They have an old lineup depleted with injuries and I think both Orlando and Cleveland are too much for the them. The Heat proved a couple years ago that they could win even with a so-so regular season, and even though they don't have a dominant center anymore, they still have proven scorers. The Magic are also dangerous.

West? Jazz are terrible on the road, and they'll probably be wiped out in the first round by L.A. Spurs don't have Ginobili this time around, so it'll be tough if not impossible. Rockets are good, but I think the Lakers have too much firepower for them. Portland is good, they'll be great in a couple years but this year is not their year. Denver is good also, but again, they, along with everyone else, are not as deep as Los Angeles.

this is great that there are basketball fan here. most other rpg site im on there never any sport fans.

look like no one is giving the pistons any shot at all. come on, they may have stunk it up during the regular season, but its still the same team that got to the final, minus billups. but i think stuckey has taken over billups while bynum taken over stuckey job. what suck is that AI didn't wanna play off the bench, i think if he had accepted that role, pistons would have been a lot more dangerous. he could've just come in with the back and just shoot all he wanted to.

sorry for the double posting, but look like my nba season is over. both the bulls and pistons loss in the first round. but atleast the bulls gave me a hell of a series to watch, best series that ive seen and ive been watching basketball for over 15 years. still think the bulls should've won the series so im kind of piss right now that they loss. they had so much chances in game 7 but they just couldn't convert. this could be the last time im cheerring for the bulls becasue ben gordon may be gone and if he is, bulls will be back in the lottery

Since no one has posted in this thread since the finals have actually been over with I will just go ahead and break the ice.

Fuck the Lakers. God damnit is anyone else but me pissed that for the last 30 years there have only been like 9 teams to win the NBA Championship?

The NBA is boring. but god i love it.

Whoo Lakers!

Ahem. They fully deserved it, they had the more talented squad and bench in comparison to the Magic, who were also stellar. What I think doomed Orlando in the end was their lack of execution in the final minutes of the last 2 games of the series, which resulted in them giving away games in OT. Oh yeah, I meant Game 2 as well. I think Courtney Lee should've scored that layup with 1 second to go. That was really high percentage and he just blew it.

It's simple fact. Orlando choked.

They choked in Game 2. They Choked in game 4 BIG TIME. and game 5 they just didn't give a shit.

Alright, that's totally what I meant. And it seems that they might be losing Turkoglu as well, who I thought had a good last 2 games, just not enough.

well as expected, the lakers won. but im looking forward to next year with the pistons after they got ben gordon, charlie villanueva in the offseason. now they better not trade away rip hamilton so they will have 3 uconn on the team, which mean they should win the championship. they could trade either tay prince or rodney stuckey for a center and they are good for the championship again
