National Football League (American)

The thing with rugby is they don't wear as much protection as what American football players do, but then again they don't need it as much because in rugby you can only tackle from behind and you can't throw the ball forwards which would prevent players clashing together.

Actually...it's only in college and high school American football that the most padding is worn. I read an article that said that close to 90 percent of American football players (pro) don't wear much padding. Only shoulder pads. They don't have that frontal armor, or even knee braces. Srsly.

Bieng from Texas I have always been a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. We got a pretty good team this year and we might actually have a chance to win the Super Bowl.

I thought that was all the pros wore anyway :|

Either way, they still get more protection than rugby players.

True.

According to pro football players, armor is over-hyped. xD

But anyways....the preseason's shaping up to be pretty good. Though as to how the starting lineup of each team will fare in the regular season is yet to be seen. :D

I've only seen the Bears/Colts game (re-match kind of...Bears win) and Chargers/Rams game.

I haven't caught any Pre-season football yet. I'm hyped for it, definitely, but I don't feel like watching the starters play for 1 quarter than sitting the rest of the game.

Chargers though look promising this year, but the new Coach Turner has got to prove he's a winner right from the start. Here's to hoping the new NFL season is a blast!

Promising indeed. Only bad thing that happened last Saturday was that the 3rd string running back was injured in the knee after being dragged down.
But I think the Chargers' running-back depth is really great.

It wasn't Darrin Sproles was it? he was out all last year too and he's one helluva kick returner with blazing speed! Yeah, with LT, and Mike Turner taking most runs, it'll be fine, but if it's Sproles on the DL, that blows. He's an exciting player to watch.

Nah, it's not Sproles. It was Gross, yes that's his last name; haven't heard of him 'til he got injured in any case. Anyways, it had better not be all that serious, although the fact that he was carted out was kinda a bad sign.

The Chargers game was great, they demolished the Rams.

Gross' injury looked pretty bad from my point of view, he sort of got his leg caught underneath him and had all his weight pushed down on his knee, he should be out for a long while.

Ugh, oh well. I'm stoked for the seasons to start though. A buddy of mine has a dad who gets tickets to local games a lot, so right now he's got 6 Notre Dame vs. Penn State tickets. He said we can have them, as long as they are tickets that anyone can use. Hopefully they are not for his employees only.

The lack of football hurts.

I watched some of the Panthers game last night, they were being steam rolled. :P

They were great a couple years ago when they got to the Super Bowl, but now they kinda suck. xD
But they're still a team that's not to be underestimated though.

They will be good, probably compete with the Saints to win that Division overall. The Panthers have a stunning line-up on the defensive side of the ball with big name players and up-and-coming players alike.

One week 'til the season starts right?

im an eagles fan all the way, but im pretty pissed off that they just released the axe-man jeramiah trotter. also they didn't resign donte stallworth. i don't understand what their front-office is thinking sometimes but i guess its cool, cause were looking pretty good right now and my hopes are high.

Is it me or are the Patriots more scary than ever now that they have Randy Moss? He owned the Jets on Sunday. If this is a preview for the rest of the season, then they're going to the Super Bowl.

The Patriots looked really strong against the Jets. I'd like to see the Lions do well this season.

lol, the Lions. :P
They only won that game against the Raiders (which team I personally hate) was to be expected. They had the better quarterback.

As for the Patriots, they're as good as ever. They're not getting past San Diego this Saturday though. :monster:

San Diego are really strong this season too, it should be a really tight game.

It's basically a rematch of last season's playoff 1st round between the two --- which San Diego miraculously lost...

Now under new leadership, we're hoping to avenge it. :wacky:
Revenge ftw.
