I'm hosting a Dissidia tournament for the NA version of Dissidia over Ad Hoc Party

If enough people ask for it, I will host EU version, and/or X-Link as well

Anyone is welcome, regardless of their membership at any forum or other site on the internet, so please tell your friends

------------------------------
Sign Ups:
------------------------------

You have until Jan 1st to sign up by E-Mailing me (mordax.dissidia@googlemail.com) with your desired name, character choice (you only get 1), PSN Identity, MSN/Live Messenger address and a list of your top 5 favourite arenas (in order and specifying Omega/Normal)

Why are we using Live? Because your faithful referees, including myself, are referees because we can't get to PSN, we don't require to be on MSN the whole time, just to be able to come on and talk to us in real time if the need arises

On 1st Jan, I will pick the first X players to complete a full sign up, where X is the largest bracket size that can be constructed, and I will send them all a number

One of the other referees who doesn't know who is playing or what number everyone has will post here a bracket with those numbers in, and I will then re-post that with names

This process ensures that there is no bias in the construction of the bracket

---------------------------------
Format of Matches:
---------------------------------

Matches will be best of 3, on the North American Version of Dissidia over Ad-Hoc Party - obviously you can choose to use XLink or Local Play if you and your opponent agree but for the sake of everyone being able to play everyone else, everyone must has access to AHP

The first game of each match will be on a pre-decided arena, the venue for this game will change from round to round and will be decided by me based on the favourite arenas picked at the start, I'll post the exact formula that I'll use if people care

For the 2nd and 3rd games of the Best of 3, the loser of the previous game picks the arena

Equipment up to level 80 will be allowed
--Excepting Artefacts (those things you have to name)
Accessories will be allowed
--Excepting those with Break Chances
Summons will be allowed

Matches are to have no Judgement
You may not use Command Battle

The Semi-Finals and Finals will be best of 5

The tournament is Single Elimination, though we encourage you to do playoffs

You must stick solely to the character you picked at sign-up for the duration of the tournament, however you may change your setup for that character whenever you wish

------------------------
Rules of Fair Play
------------------------

Infinites will not be allowed at this tournament

To avoid confusion, a list will be posted to the DissidiaTournaments You Tube account with a list of Banned Combo Links prior to the start of the tournament

You may not link the moves on the list to each other by any method

EXAMPLE:
If the list specifies the following:

Cait Sith:
Trumpet - Bell

then should Cait Sith hit with Trumpet, he may not use Bell as his next attack in the combo

Trumpet - Alarm - Bell is perfectly acceptable
Trumpet - Dodge Cancel - Bell is not
Trumpet - Wall Crash - Bell is not
Trumpet -/ End of Combo /- Bell is fine

A combo is defined to have ended when the opponent:-
  • Finishes Dodging
  • Dashes
  • Steps in a direction
  • Finishes standing up
  • Has the opportunity to Air Recovery
  • Has the opportunity to perform an action in Chase
We reserve the right to update the list during the tournament if new infinites are found

If we determine that you have gained any advantage by hacking your game, we will kick you from the tournament

As a rule of thumb, you may hack your game to change the music tracks, but go no further

Hacks that will get you kicked include but are not limited to:
  • Accessories, Equipment or Summons that can only be gotten by hacking
  • Hacks that gain you extra EXP, HP, Brave or EX
  • Hacks that reduce an ability's CP cost or allow it to be equipped where it normally shouldn't
  • Hacks that change the affects of equipment, accessories or summons
  • Hacks that allow you to equip things your character normally couldn't
  • Hacks that create or reduce lag
  • Any changes to the game's graphics (we will boot on all of these, regardless of your reasoning)
  • Playing as Chaos (duh)
Referees may not play in the tournament

-------------------
This tournament as a Spectator Sport
-------------------

When the brackets are posted, I will assign a referee to take Replays, you may send them either in raw replay format (ask if you're unsure) or as a converted video, we ask for a replay of every game in the tournament

We will later post these replays to the DissidiaTournaments You Tube account, and reserve the right to use them to advertise the next tournament

Ok, heres the situation

Sign ups for this close at the end of the day

We have 15 sign ups

To make a balanced bracket, we need 1 more person

If you own the US version of Dissidia, and have access to a Playstation 3 (not necessarily your own), then please consider joining the tournament

We have a lot of new faces this time around, and the chances of you being matched up against someone scary is quite low, the equipment cap is what it is purely to appeal to more casual players who might not have access to a good set of level 100 gear yet

If we don't get the last sign up, then things become quite awkward, we either have to give someone a bye which is unfair on everyone else or turn 7 people away, or make an asymetric bracket which is again stacked towards certain players

We want to increase the number of high quality match videos on You Tube, encourage a healthy online community for the game, and furthermore to show that Dissidia is not some gimmiky spin-off fighter, but a game with real depth for those who want to look for it

If we don't get that last player, then we have to either turn away a lot of talent, or make a stacked tournament that will forever be on our record and hinder our ability to operate in the future

I personally gain absolutely nothing from running these, the sole reward has been all of the great friends that I've made along the way, by signing up you'll be introduced to a lot of great people, and skilled players who can help you take your game further, and you'll get just as much out of this as I have

Thanks for reading this far
