Moores Law - Every two years the number of transistors double, which means the processing speed is higher and the size of ram increases.. the graphic cards increase, pretty much anything on the CPU that you can think of increases.

As many of you know I am pretty inclined to dealing with computers daily. Besides the software part being constantly upgraded, there is the Hardware part that gets on my ever living nerve.

Well today I thought of something.. back in 1994-1998 you did not have to worry about upgrading your CPU other than throwing in a stick of RAM every now and again and keeping your voodoo2 graphics card or Nvidia TNT graphics card updated as far as bios go. You could pretty much play any game you wanted to in that era.

My how the times have changed though. These days you have to buy a computer yearly because the upgrades on your CPU are way too weak per se.. what I mean by this for example are the games in which require a large amount of Memory, Processing speed, and uber nice graphics card just go up and up.

So why is it even like this? Well computer game developers want to put their product out there using the latest and shiniest graphics. It sort of flows along the same line as Xbox360 vs PS3 - but of course PS3 is to hard of a system to design for. So this leaves the consumer (me and you) to have to upgrade their PC even more in order to get a taste of these amazing games.

With each new Graphics card requires a little bit more of a cooling system in your cpu. Why? well because these bad boys consume major amounts of wattage from the power supply and upon doing so put out more and more heat. So in order to fix the problem you have to buy 2 more fans or just an internal liquid cooling system. This resulted in my last video card on my main desktop cpu to overheat quite a bit. I didn't have enough watts left over from my power supply to properly give a good cooling system for my HD/Processor/Graphics Card... so it of course died within a matter of months.

While the price of memory has gone down, the price of video cards and processors are at their all time high. You have to pay $500.00 plus american dollars if you want anything on the top end as far as graphics cards go and you always have to pay 300+ for the processor..

I used to be able to build pcs for no more than 400 bucks and these were good rigs.

Ah.. I wish they would slow down.. even if these newer hardware are pretty nice to see, or just lower the price a bundle for us broke people.

basically 20 year old supercomputers...take up so much space, power and manpower....and today our 100$ chips can easily do the same job....thats moores law
cant wait for intels 32nm cpus for laptops......plan to integrate gpu in the cpu.....maybe will even get myself the next atom Pineview.....heard they plan to put it in the next iphone also - running XP on ur phone...coming soon...
