Thankfully, we don't yet know how the human brains functions which prevents someone from knowing what someone is thinking or could allow reading of a person's memories. :ohshit:

But, procedures like this one may eventually be developed to a point where they read the sensory input (vision, smell, taste, touch, etcetera) being fed into a person's brain.

I was reading on another site awhile ago that back when lobotomies were considered a reasonable treatment a doctor would do invasive surgeries on patients where he planted electrodes in their brain. And, he was able to somewhat control their moods and reactions. He could make them have violent outbursts, etc. I'm not really remembering specifics, though.

I guess this type of research may be an offshoot of that type of procedure, not really sure though...
