I noticed that there were no threads on any Metroid games and as odd as it seemed, thought I'd make one so people can discuss any of the old Metroid games or the upcoming Metroid Prime 3 for Wii. I myself have played/own most (bought Super Metroid for SNES but swapped it for Super Punch Out, and own pretty much all the other Metroid games to date). Right now I'm playing Metroid Prime but will play Metroid Prime 2 soon after I'm done. I have to say that the transistion from 2D to 3D was done in an amazing way. Not only does it look great but the attention to detail is simply stunning (and we're talking for a Gamecube too). I look forward to seeing what Samus Aran is capable of in MP3.

One of my top 5 franchises easily with pretty much every title being a first class game, I own all the games from the main series barring the first two in the series on the NES and original GB. Metroid Prime to me is one of the best games ever and a great example of how to convert a 2D series into 3D properly (Sonic/Castlevania take note).

Looking forward to seeing how MP3 works with the Wii controls, Retro Studios have a hell of a task to make it work but I'm hoping and have a little faith that they'll surprise me again. And if they fail I still have Super Metroid to fall back on.

I picked up Metroid Zero Mission for GBA today, its my first Metroid game and i cant put it down :P
its really addictive and the gameplay is solid, i didn't really like platformers before, but i bought it becuase i heard that its awsome, and it was an absolute bargain, i found a second hand copy for £2, and the cheapest one you can get on Amazon is about £15
I wanna get more metroid games now.....fusion, and maybe hunters for ds...

Yeah, Zero Mission is a great remake of the original Metroid. I'd really love to see a remake done of Metroid 2 as I was never able to buy it for GB. Fusion for GBA is probably the next best choice as it's for GBA and it plays exactly the same but it's the last of the Metroid games so far (I think). If you do have a Wii/Gamecube, get the Prime games as soon as possible as they are just amazing. Prime Hunters for DS is a good game but I would have rather prefered if they'd kept the side scolling gameplay of old and made the world absolutely huge as well as lots of secrets. Look at games like Castlevania for DS....if they look that good, how good would a Metroid look. :D

Yeah, new Metroid for the DS with old gameplay would be good, DS is quite restricted when it comes to huge 3d games like metroid prime hunters.

I wanna get a Wii, so i can play resident evil for Gamecube, and i could pick up metriod prime for GC and MP 3 for wii aswell.....

I have a Wii but I last played a Wii game (Zelda) months ago....been playing Gamecube games since then. I'm still in the middle of Tales of Symphonia, but am trying to finish Metroid Prime, then will go for MP2:Echoes. After that, will play Resident Evil 0 (got the other day) and once that's finished, will replay the Remake of Resident Evil. Then...after that, I'll continue with Tales.....though I should probably have a break instead. :D

Back to Metroid.....I prefer Prime Hunters to the new Pinball game but I just don't feel that Hunters should have been made like the Gamecube games. Sure, it looks good but it just feels odd to me.

Nice, i would love to play the GC remake of the first Resident Evil....Umbrella chronicles lookes sweet for Wii

I wanna get another DS game, but i cant decide if i should get, MP Hunters, FF3 or something else...

It all depends of what sort of game you like. I have to say that FF3 is a very good RPG. The castlevania games are also very good.

As for the Remake of Resident Evil...it's SO much better than the original. Crimson Heads are very scary.:D

I just got FF3 and KH2 like an hour ago, i couldnt find Metroid Prime Hunters anywhere, and also i couldn't be bothered to order it...is there any other 2D Metroid games out for GBA?, i wanna get fusion.

The only ones that I know of is Zero Mission and Fusion so far.....maybe they'll make one more in future?

KH2 is a great game....but trying to get 100% is just too much. I couldn't be bothered to do it all so next time I get around to playing it, I'll do hard mode to get the secret ending.

FF3 is also a great game. Haven't played it in a while but have started it again recently. It's a slow starter in terms of what you can do but when you get some money and more jobs available, it's a lot better. Only thing I don't like is that if you want certain things, you MUST send mail to others over Wifi or DS to DS. Sure, it's a way of using the Wifi but what about people who don't have it? I myself don't but I can still go to my aunts to use it.

It kinda sux being forced to use nintendo wifi, it was hell trying to work out how to change my routers WEP settings....yeah i knida like FF3, not much in terms of story, but i do like the job system, even though i haven't got any yet.....i like the gameplay also, simple turn based, not ATB, shame, plus its hard.......

at first i wasn't too keen on getting KH2, i heard that its way too easy, so i stupidly started my new game on hard mode........god, and it was quite hard at the start, its pretty good....

Im on the mother brain on zero mission atm, but i need to get more health and super missile upgrades first.....cant wait to play the original NES verion afterwards...

I've seen a review of Metroid Prime 3 and it's bloody good. Can't wait for that to come out in UK.

Don't you need to hook up Zero Mission with Metroid Prime to play NES Metroid on GBA or is it available from just finishing Zero Mission? I forgot but I know you get something from linking them.

Geez, i hope that i can just unlock it by finishing Zero Mision, i havent got a Gamecube, so i cant play MP.....and yeah Metroid Prime 3 Looks really good, i was really suprised at the graphics, previous Wii titles were good, just didn't use the Wii's full potential, but MP 3 looks awsome.....

You're fine. Remembered that the original IS unlocked after completing the game. If you link with a gamecube, think you unlock original Metroid onto gamecube AND unlock the fusion suit for play in Prime.

Yeah, I have to say it's the best looking Wii game I've seen so far. But then Metroid Prime was one of the best looking gamecube games I've had the pleasure of owning, so not suprised too much.

About that, you unlock the original after beating Meta Ridly and escaping the planet. And no, there's no hookup needed to play the original.

Phew, thats good.....
Oh and recently i found out on IGN, that there are rumours of a new 2D metroid game for the DS.....that would be ace...

They could make it with very decent graphics indeed, still 2D tough, it would be massive aswell, hopefully, you would start from scratch, gaining loads of different upgrades along the way...wifi multiplayer, but better than the one in portrait of ruin...it would be the best 2d platformer ever...

My only concern (more of a thought really) is when it will take place in the series. Judging by the name Metroid Dread, I can only assume it's not part of the Prime games. So is it set after...or before? Maybe it's a prequel to the very first mission...or maybe it'll be Samus' last ever mission? Only time will tell.
