I love this game so much. Got it whilst I was on my hols and started playing yesturday. Its truly an astounding game with amazing graphics and voice acting. I never got round to completing the first game and I personally prefer this one to the first!!

Anyone else had a chance to play it yet???

I finished this a couple of weeks back, haven't gotten around to writing my review yet. XD;

But yeah, this is most definetely better than the first - the weapons using ammo is somewhat aggravating, as is the probe minigame, but its still awesome. The new additions to the cast are more good than bad, and I loved seeing old members back again. Garrus was the first one I recruited, and he was my favourite characters in the original game~<3

Importing my character was fun, because he had an exceptionally high Renegade score. Falcon-punching that journalist who interviews you in the first game was definetely one of the highlights!

My ending was quite...enlightening.
I favoured Legion over Tali in their argument - I never liked her, and having Legion was an unexpected bonus - and she ended up getting blown up on the way in, and Jack got killed by the first barrage. Mordin died trying to get the door closed. I laughed. Hard. Everyone else survived, though.

Mass Effect 2 is definitely an improvement over Mass Effect 1, and I enjoyed it immensely. My only problem is insanity mode. A Krogran is harder than anything you'll face in Normal.

Sounds dumb, but Im not keen on the romance side for this one. I liked Dragon Age cause you had a good choice of romancing lol. Mass Effect's romance for the female character was dishy, but Jacob seems like he would be a friend and nothing more lol. Its a shame you cant get more choice. Alien relationships would be interesting! Im glad
Garrus is back, I loved him in the first game. People have said you can get with him
, but you cant. Its flirtation only in the walkthrough.

What is bugging me so far is the text. I need to have subtitles up for my games, makes it easier for me. But when you are making a decision, sometimes you cant read the damn text, thats bugging the crap out of me.

Oh and Jacob has his own spinoff game on iPhone?!

I want
Joker
romance. Having a relationship with
Legion
would be extremely interesting...and highly ironic. XD

I can't help but cackle at the thought of relationship dialogue with
Mordin!
"Relationship? Different species. Attraction inexplicable. Sex difficult. Inadvisable course of action."

This game has so much potential for relationships! Still, there is one more game to go, so who knows what they'll deliver...something dramatic, no doubt.

For anyone who has got that far...is it just me, or does the last boss look like the Terminator? I was more than a little scared when he suddenly rose up out of the pit and started going insane...

I really feel like getting this game for some reason... Is it any better then the first one? I liked Mass effect but is was not defo the best game but it was still good. Might get this very late cause everything is on hold because XIII is almost out ^_^ So yeah can someone tell me how its better than I?

If you didn't finish the first one, I'd advise against it. You get so much more out of the game if you transfer your character over - as a standalone game, Mass Effect 2 is horrendously confusing and I'd say its not as enjoyable starting from scratch. I'll give my opinion of this game vs. the first in a nutshell:

Improvements:
- Its bigger. Soooo much bigger. The entire second disc is for exploration purposes. Its still a short game if you go only for the story, though.
- Obviously, its prettier. The graphic spikes aren't quite as frequent or obvious.
- More options in what career path you take.
- The new characters are awesome, and if you don't like them, you can just ignore them, and its practically a certainty that they'll die on the final mission.

Annoyances:
- The probe minigame. Instead of exploring planets now, you launch probes by scanning the environment, and its boring as hell.
- Its very repetetive. Take cover, shoot, rinse and repeat. The combat is more tactical than the first, but its still pretty dull after a while. Not a game to be played in long bursts.

Other:
- Weapons take ammo now. You won't run out of ammo for every weapon unless you're playing on a harder difficulty setting, but...well, it depends on what you prefer. If you liked the lack of ammo in the first game, you may want to think twice before getting this.
- The DLC is supposed to be pretty good, although I don't have XboxLive, so I can't comment on it ><

It'd keep you amused until FFXIII came out, methinks~

I prefer the gameplay more in this one. I actually like the mini game XD

The relationships would have been more awesome if there were more choices, I want my Garrus!! I also love Grunt, he makes me lark, hes so sweet ... even though he could rip your head clean off :/ But indeed, who knows what the final game will bring :-)

Grunt and Garrus make an awesome team! Although Grunt yelling "I...AM...KROGAAAAAAAAAN!" every five seconds in battle got rather annoying after a while. XD

Hopefully the final game won't be so human-orientated. Of course, that might just have been due to the path I took in the first game...
I let the Council die, so they refused to see me when I turned up on the Citadel.

Did anyone decide to
destroy the Reaper facility at the end, instead of preserving it for the "sake of humanity"?
Something tells me that will play a part in the next game...people biting off a little more than they can chew...hopefully it'll lead to some new weapons, though. Although that Particle Beam weapon was totally awesome~<3

Im currently mining alot lol and doing the loyality missions. So far, Miranda, Zeegan (sp) Tali and Jacob have had theirs done. So Im going to focus on Jack's next. The unlockable outfits arent wow IMO. I prefer Miranda's hite piece to the unocked black one :/

My cousin brought the game tuesday and I played a little. It was a fun game and I got to the part when you recruit Archangel. I really like Miranda. Shes a pretty hot and awesome character. Lol I would pick her to have a relationship with If I ever get to play the game again xD She is just the hottests of the gals in that game. Also SS i Prefer the Standard outfit too xD. Mass effect II is a great game

Miranda is actually based on the actress providing her voice, Yvonne Strahovski. Who is also in Chuck. The cast list for this game is epic, Adam Baldwin (Firefly & Chuck), Martin Sheen (The West Wing), Seth Green (Buffy, Austin Powers), Claudia Black (Dragin Age Origins, Farscape). Its a great cast!

I prefer the gameplay more in this one. I actually like the mini game XD

I very much agree with this! I definitely prefer the new system using thermal clips instead of jamming all the time, and with thermal clips being "one size fits all" and dropping all over the place, I've yet to run out (though I haven't played on the highest difficulty. I kinda like flying around and probing planets too. It's a nice change of pace from the main game.

Over all this is definitely an improvement all around compared to the first game. It's just so much more streamlined. The annoying menus are gone and you don't have to spend aeons of time sorting through all the shit you've picked up, instead you just salvage credit directly from anything you find. This was a huge plus to me. Less time jerking around and more time spent shooting heads off things.

And the Mako is gone, thank the Gods for that...

Yeah, the Mako is a major pain in the arse. Ive started playing Mass Effect, need to get some play outta it. But Im not enjoying it as much as 2.

I got this game the day it was released. I've beaten it about 3 times now and I just started an insanity play through, it's the only achievement I need to have the game completed.

Also new dlc was released yesturday known as Overlord. Geth everywhere lolz, so grabbing me some points after work and cracking on with that.

To bump:

Anyone else got or completed the dlc Overlord?? To be honest, Im dissapointed with it. For that amount of microsoft points and you get 2 achievements???? It didnt seem worth it. I havent finished it yet, Im currently using the Hammerhead to get across lava and such to get to another part of the powerplant, but I feel left down by it.

I haven't gotten any DLC for ME2 yet, and I'm not sure if I'm ever going to bother to be honest. My girlfriend was very into Dragon Age Origins and bought Return to Ostagar and Wardens keep, and neither of them did all that much for me. They weren't bad as such and I know they aren't expensive or anything, but I didn't think they added anything to the game I couldn't have lived without either.

I haven't played overlord DLC yet. From the looks of it it's just a random add-on with no real story or plot involvement. I just want them to release a damn expansion pack already.

i got half way through the first one then put the controller down cause the story was just so borring. but the voice acting was really good. i might get part 2 when it goes on sale or something.
