Just a random thought from watching Advent Children not too long ago during the major fight between Cloud and Sephiroth as a "Meantime while the kids are indoors" You see that Denzel is having a minor episode of Geostigma and suddenly Marlene sees something as asks out to no one "Is it her?"

Then at the Church after the battle a girl stated "It's like she said... Wait here and Cloud will come back" (assuming that 'she' is Marlene who passed on a message)

Now, I'm not saying "OMG there is one more, and the Cetra bloodline isn't dead yet!" But I am suggesting that maybe over time most of the original bloodline was phased out generation after generation with parents from other heritages. Could Marlene be one of them and if so - then that could suggest that there may be more like her. (Like Aerith, techincally speaking - but she had enough to be a person of interest to Shin-ra and Hojo)

Any thoughts?

To be honest I have no conclusive evidence of if she could be or not, because I don't believe SE has given us enough info to work with. All I know is that she is an orphan along with the others, and she looks very similar to what I would imagine Aerith to be as a child.

When I saw her at the end of FFVII in the house looking out at the life stream and Meteor, I said to myself... did Aerith have a secret offspring?

I would assume she is not a Cetra since it was again and again said that Aerith was the last, but hey then again I also thought Sephiroth was totally dead. I also thought Genesis's true form would never come back and that he was made into one of the three remnants of "mother", but at the end of Dirge... hmm..

SE always suprises me with the inconsistencies though, so it is possible to believe whatever right now.

It's a good theory. But I kinda always thought that "she" meant Aerith somehow.

That is what I think too - that "she" is "Aerith" which is what Marlene was referring too

It's an interesting theory but I don't think so. I think that Marlene deffinately took on Aerith as a role model even though she only knew her for a short period of time but I don't believe she is Cetra. The part where she says 'is it her?' was riht after she saw a droplet of water fall off a rafter (I believe this is the part anyway, if I am wrong correct me) which is reminiscant of Aerith's final limit aas it shares the image of the water droplet. While I don't know how Marlene would know what her limit would look like I think it is jsut a symbol used that is significant of Aerith to the whole team and since Marlene is very intuitive I find, she would easily pick that up and make the connection. If you remember in the airship Tifa sees a water droplet and asks 'so you were there the whole time, weren't you?' and it's pretty clear she was talking to Aerith. I think SE was just geting the point across that while Aerith was dead...she would never truely be gone.

Also at the end when the girl says' it's just like she said, wait her and he'll come back' was that actually Marlene? I thought it was one of the random street kids. Again, I could be wrong..I don't fully remember that part. The point is, whether is was Marlene or not, the children in the movie represent a sort of innocence that Cloud and the others don't really have anymore. So if it the presence of Aerith (I don't know what else to call it) were to speak to anyone I think it would be easiest for her to speak to the most pure of people. I have no real reason for thinking that, just makes sense to me. Also, if it wasn't Marlene who said that it is likely that the children who were healed of geostigma by the water in Aerith's church formed a frief connection with her that allowed for the message to be passed on.

I don't think she has Cetra Blood. I think she is just a very mature child and well aware about the feelings from the people around her. I believe she looked up to Tifa and Aerith, they're both the strong women in her life, as in Aerith's house in the game, you just know Marlene had her little girl talk with Aerith. As well as how Marlene spends time with Tifa and learns to care about people.

I think she takes up Aerith's care free-ness, along with little trades here and there. And Tifa's caring and "Stay strong for the others" personality.

I think she's just really... Smart for a girl her age, very aware of things.

With "She" I think they meant Aerith to. If anything the same girl saying that... I think it's the same girl that's sitting in the Church in Final Fantasy VII, when you re-enter it, as Aerith is already dead. o_O There's two kids there I think...

Ack... Drifting off... No, I think Marlene is just a well matured little girl.

Well, considering she...
1. Can sense "the flower girl" at the end of VII.
2. Is one of the few characters shown to never get geostigma and, by extension, fall under the control of whatever Jenova has become now.
3. Brought up Aerith again right when she was active in the lifestream.
4. Has a father who, while considered crazy, may have been sensing the planet.
It's safe to assume that she is either part Cetra, or the latent potential of humanity finally manifesting.
