What can I say - Wow. What a game this is, I went out and got more controllers just for this game, four player games are mayhem. Definately the best one yet, Ive unlocked three characters so far - Rosalina, Diddy Kong and King Boo, I cant wait to unlock the rest. Stunts in this game is a great addition, instead of just riding along you now have to find your best route for stunts as every time you perform one you get an additional boost.

Anyone else played it?
 
I haven't had the opportunity to play this game yet. It isn't really on the top of my "To-get" list. The stunts sound pretty cool.

Is there Wifi?
 
Yes there is an online mode. If there isn't some cheap shit like snaking possible then it should be pretty awesome, only thing that ruined the class DS version for me.

Still not too sure about the whole bike/stunt thing going on. Need to play it myself before judging that one.
 
If there's Wifi, I'll probably give it a shot. I love the Mario Kart series.

Still...something about this Mario Kart game puts me off. I dunno what it is. haha
 
It's the gimmicks they've put in this that are off-putting, Double Dash looked solid and was great but this just looks lacklustre in comparison.


Also those fucking Blue Shells are still in it. ¬¬
 
Well said. The motorbikes, stunts and control scheme aren't appealing. Hell, Mario Kart Wii looks like a predecessor to Double Dash. I hope the gamecube controller is compatible with the game.

And why the hell did they bring those goddamn blue shells back? I doubt anybody (except those who routinely race in last place) likes that item.
 
I haven't got it yet, but a friend got it and said it was kewl enough... so I'll prolly givi it a shot, :)

BTW, yeah, I hae those blue shells...
 
I played it round my friends house last night, the motorbikes are awesome, and yes, Gamecube controllers work with it. Thank god, steering with the Wii remote / wheel wasn't too appealing tbh.
 
Wifi lets you play against 12 other players at a time. The wii controller is great for steering, I couldnt go back to a normal control for this game now.

I hate those blue shells but if you press accelerate just as you hit the ground you get a boost and this negates the effect of the blue shell - pretty cool.

Is that just in this game? There's finally a way to avoid it?

The blue shells add a little comedy to the game. They're so annoying you have to laugh.
 
Oh those Blue shells >< I HATE them. And in this game it seems they can hit others than the person in first place D=<

I'm getting this game myself tomorrow, so I can't wait xD
 
From what i understand, Rosalina should be unlocked if you have a mario galaxy file saved on your wii.


I cant wait to pick mine up tomorrow, Im in the States, so I dont get it until then. Dont worry though, I'll be on the leaderboards soon enough ;). Same name you see on the forum.

The blue shells always affected other racers, not just in the wii game. If you were close enough the explosion hit you. Also in the N64 version, it could smack you as it flew by. I know its dodgeable in Double Dash version, but its so hard and alot depends on luck.
 
So, Mario Kart isn't out in the States yet? I was wondering why me and my brother weren't picking up any Americans on the Wifi xD

Nah, you could do that very same thing on Double Dash. It doesn't negate the blue shell. You still lose some time. Timing the landing for the boost certainly helps you salvage a little time, at least.
 
You can dodge the blue shell if you acquire a mushroom or hit a speed ramp just as its above you.

Ive just unlocked my seventh expert ghost, 1 more for baby Luigi.
 
If the second place racer is close behind, I'll just step on the brake a little and allow them to pass me. The blue shell should go after them instead. Slowing down probably isn't as bad as getting hit.
