Manga to Anime

In some cases, I think it's better to watch the anime first, because if you read the manga before the anime, sometimes you're expecting too much, and receive too little, and then get disappointed.

Like Akira for example. I saw the anime before reading the manga, and I'm really glad I did. The manga is absoloutly amazing, one of my all time favorites. The anime is really good too, but not nearly as good as the manga. However, when I first saw the anime, I thought it was the most amazing thing I had ever seen (I was like, fourteen at the time and before that the only anime I ever saw was DBZ, pokemon, and Tenchi Muyo). However, if I read the manga before the anime, I wouldn't be able to appreciate how good the anime is in it's own right. Both are very different from each other, yet both are very good.

I would say the same thing with Berserk. The Berserk anime was good, but compared to the manga, it's crap. But both are really good in their own right.

And in some cases it doesn't really matter. Like with the Yu Yu Hakusho anime compared to the manga, it's basically the same thing, so I guess it doesn't really matter.

I don't read mangas anyway, so I watch animes without worrying whether I should be expecting too much or less. I do hear a lot from people, however, that the mangas are usually way better than animes. I wouldn't mind reading some, but I'm really more into watching animes. I guess I love hearing their Japanese voice.

It depends. If I read a manga and really like it, I'll check out the anime.
Usually if I see an anime and really like it, I usually don't check out the manga unless someone tells me that it is so much better. One Piece is an exception though.

I try to avoid buying mangas of anime that I have seen but I have always heard that the mangas are always better. Like Ghost in the Shell and Akira (which are now two of my most wanted mangas).

I usually watch the anime first then get the manga. Although Ive seen some mangas that I really fancy getting the animes of, but I dont think some haev been made yet.

It depends really. Some might not look good if made to an anime.
They spoiled Angel Sanctuary, for one.

it depends on alost of things, the animation, the graphics, the voices and how they alter the story line to fit the anime agenda you know what i mean?... alot of things have to be taken into consideration her

Yeah, exactly.
Still, in some cases, certain companies might work really hard on an anime adapted from a manga, but can never beat the original.
FMA's a good example.

Naruto would be better adapted as an anime if they didn't make it that draggy.
And Bleach, reading the manga and watching the anime, they're like the same thing. ;)

Yeah, I know.
The Bleach fillers were not that good, but still a hell lot better the Naruto ones.
Though, some refuse to do fillers, so they halt production till the manga is far ahead before continuing.
Chobits was one of them, I think.

Oh.. well I remember that which happened was a manga to anime thing drawn by CLAMP.

And FMA, even though they completed the anime, they're still doing the manga, and the manga is better than the anime.

Generally it seems I like the manga versions better than their anime counterparts. Especially in the cases of Get Backers, Samurai Deeper Kyo & Sailor Moon.

The SDK anime is a piece of shit compared to the manga. Same thing for Get Backers for the most part. I still really love the Sailor Moon anime, but the manga, just like Bleach & Naruto, doesn't have the cruddy fillers and is more mature.

I don't care for manga at all, so I guess I'm the kind who watches the anime first.

I totally agree with you. I hate the anime but love the manga.

-how different is the FMA manga from the anime? 'cuz I've only watched the anime and I loved it.

To me, it doesn't really matter. For the most part, if I'm reading a manga, I'm probably not going to go through the truoble to find and buy the anime when I already know the story line. That is, unless, the manga really sparks my interest.

I'd usually go for the manga first, then the anime.

Though... There were some exceptions that the anime had led me to read the manga version of it. Like Full Moon wo Sagashite, Full Metal Panic, and Saiyuki for example. Because of seeing the anime versions of them first, I decided to move to the manga versions. And I cherish them even more because of that.
