Magic leveling

Ok, I just restarted a character, since the RPG was rebooted, so to speak.
So, since I decided to go Mage this time.
I got hold of the "Shock" spell.

but, no matter hoe much I use it.
It never gets any "XP" itself.
I HAVE checked this, I HAVE been using it (alot)
but it never goes higher.

so. my question is.
Does this first spell lvl at all?
Does it have to say anything if I have a team mate (and if he is higher/lower then me)

Sorry, the spell does not level. I suggest you wait until later on in the game, there will be better spells later. But the spell will come in handy at times.

since it IS the first spell all-in-all.
I had a hunch that, that as the reason.

So by the time there are decent spells, most characters will have already been shaped into warriors?

There is a spell to start with, but it is weak because it would be too easy to win with if it was stronger. There will be better spells, and there will be monsters that will be easier to kill with a spell than physical attacks, so keep that in mind

And also keep in mind that we can be very, very evil and make a monster damageable only with Magic

Eg: Demon wall (like in the original). I hope there will be more 'Summon attacks'. Like all summons have a unique attack that's suited to them. Ifrit - Hellfire, Phoenix - Rebirth Flame etc.

That is a great idea. Have the summon have a special spell and attack. In fact, in your battle against the summon, it will use it against you. So the battle, against it, will be challenging and require a very good strategy.

Aye, and when you beat it, it unlocks the way to it's shrine where you acquire it.
