For many reasons, but I want to focus more on why a lot of people blindly agree that she made the better Rachel Dawes; Maggie's Rachel kicked the Joker in the groin, and Katie's Rachel ran away from Scarecrow.

Yeah, sure. Okay. Why don't we all call Holmes' Rachel a huge pussy because she didn't fight off a bunch of men in a place where no one can hear her scream?

What a stupid thing to say.

Not to mention, Maggie's Rachel was fuckin terrified when the Joker walked around her. Might as well call that haggard bitch a pussy too while you're at it. And what makes anyone think Katie's Rachel would have just stood by and watched? She proved herself to have "a little fight in her" in Begins when she slapped Bruce for even thinking about killing a man. The thought of murder obviously disturbs her no matter who it is.

I never considered any of those points, but I think the reason people say Maggie Gyllenaal did a better job is because she is a way better and more convincing actor.

I don't think I would have cared much if Rachel had died in the first one.. but she was way better in the second one and it ticked me off big time when she went.

I hate how Maggie tried to make the character her own. And her acting sucks, dude. Like, in general, Katie is a terrible actress, but for some really fucked up reason, her acting "style" worked really well with Rachel Dawes in Batman Begins. But that's probably just me.

Maggie was all flirty and tried to hint at her sluttiness the entire time throughout The Dark Knight. Fucken gross. Like LOL yeah okay there buddy, you aren't even hot. You look like you could be my great, great, grandfather.

Speaking of her haggard, that's another thing I hated. Everyone's like OH YEAH It was refreshing to see someone who looks like Maggie playing the lead female role~~~ More refreshing than what? Seeing Katie Holmes up there on the big screen? Gyllenhaal is fuckin ugly. Not every film needs a hot supermodel babe, but Maggie was so ugly that even she was unrealistic. That's not what "normal" girls look like. Katie Holmes is what normal girls looks like. And Bruce Shallow Wayne wouldn't even poke that with a stick. And she got two guys fighting over her wow. Way to make things completely unreal, Nolan.

lmao I just owned in this comment
holla

I'm going to be blunt here.

Your entire criticism of Gyllenhaal seems baseless in terms of direct acting critique and entirely focused on your personal dislike of her, be it her appearance (how many times did you refer to her as ugly in some way there?) or her basic personality (not everyone acts as expected).

That said, I really didn't prefer one over the other in terms of who played Rachel. It was a tad jarring to see the appearance shift, but I didn't mind it too much.

That's because it's easy as pie to focus on all of that haggard. And I got right into the acting earlier. I've seen a few of Gyllenhaal's movies to give her a chance, and she disgustingly tries to be the hot chick in every one I've seen. I hate girls like that. Even if they are hot, go fuck yourself and play a real fucken character. At least Katie literally transforms herself and tries new things. It's easier to respect her. And I noticed that I do crit Magugly (lmao owned) based on my personal hate, which is why I've tried to push any hate or love for either of them aside to judge them based on their own Rachels. My conclusion was still the same: Katie made the better Rachel.

Hers made me feel like Rachel Dawes does what she does to protect those who can't protect themselves and to lend a voice to those who can't speak up. To serve justice. She was a lawyer and she was a lawyer for a reason. She is head strong and unfailing in her commitment to her work and seeing a safer Gotham. That's the strong woman I saw played through Katie Holmes. It's a damn shame Maggie felt she had to change that just so she can be hawt~~~ omgggg<333. That dumb bitch.

Donnie Darko - Not a major character admittedly, but she's playing more the 'family rebel' so to speak. In other words, not trying to "be the hot chick".

Stranger Than Fiction - More in a love/hate (at least early on) relationship with Will Ferrell's character that develops over time and she hardly tries to "be the hot chick" in that movie. That movie doesn't even rely on that sort of thing to work. ("I brought you flours.")

Tried, maybe; but every time you even mention her name it's either "Magugly", "that haggard", or "ugly". That's hardly impartial. Everyone's entitled to opinion, but again; your entire criticism just comes across as baseless.

That's largely because of how each movie was focused. Batman Begins was more a focus on Bruce Wayne's struggles and how he interacted with Rachel based primarily on their childhood friendship and whatnot. She had a larger role to play there and it showed.

In TDK; the focus was more on the Bats-Gordon-Dent triangle, with Rachel primarily being between two of them as a romantic tangler of sorts. That can't be blamed on Maggie (if "blamed" is even the right word) so much as the responsibility lies at the feet of David Goyer and the Nolan brothers who wrote the lines and script.

It's a damn shame Maggie felt she had to change that just so she can be hawt~~~ omgggg<333. That dumb bitch.
See above. Actors/actresses have some control over how the character appears and whatnot as well as how well the character is received by the public, but by and large the character's place and role in the story are determined by the writers/director and not the actor/actress.
