Lowbie Guide

:domo: Lowbie guide part 1:domo:

General section
:mark: To do: :mark:
  • Play the piano when you reach a new town. :woot:
  • Talk to every one in town to get information about what to do next
  • Buy all the weapon and magic, if you don't have money go outside town and get some. -__-
  • Look around, make sure you don't miss anything (items). :woot:
  • Intensive leveling up is not necessary if you do the following.
  1. Buy 8 of all weapon in shop. -__-
  2. Buy 4 of all armor in shop. -__-
Why buy 8 weapon and 4 of all armor??? Because each character can hold 2 weapon when the Ninja class is MASTERED, of course you will have to be in freelancer job to do that. This means you can equip everyone with 2 weapons, since you have 4 characters 4*2 is 8. You do not need to buy 8 Bow, Harp or Shield since they must be held with 2 hand. This is just a simple guideline to make your character not under leveled.

Job section
:holyshit: Wind Crystal :holyshit:

Knight - Monk - Thief - White Mage - Black Mage - Blue Mage

:mark:
To do: :mark:
  • Change everyone's Job to Blue Mage, make sure everyone gets the "Learning" Ability.
  • Make 1 character obtain the Thief Ability "Sprint".
Possible Job for your party :P

Bartz:The strongest physical damage dealing character
>_<, he have the highest Strength, Meaning he will dish out high amount of damage. In general case give him the physical class which is front-liner. Knight, Monk, Samurai etc.

Note: Thief's uses Knife/dagger type weapon, it has damage calculation which includes Agility. Go to section Faris for more detail.

Lenna: She have the highest Magic >_< and lowest Stamina, recommendation choose a back-liner class for her. For example any Caster should do the trick. If you make her Blue Mage i suppose you can put her in front, since she'll have the proper gear. You also have one of the best lowbie skills which is Vampire. This skill will give you back your missing HP, meaning if you have full HP your damage will be 0, but if you are about to die however you will deal the damage of whatever amount your HP is missing. Although this might seem really good, if you use this skill on an undead monster, your health will get drained instead.

Faris: The fastest character with highest Agility, this effect your damage as Thief, since Thief uses Knives/Daggers and Knives/Daggers damage calculation includes Agility. As i said before Bartz is a good Warrior but, hes no Assassin. Meaning he does output high damage, but Faris gets to attack faster than him, also Bartz will do same damage if not worser than Faris when using Knife/Dagger type weapon. Faris have the second highest Magic which makes her your second priority as a Caster.

Galuf: About the second bullet point of the
To do: i would recommend making Galuf the Thief. Reason behind. Thief is front-liner, with low health and defense. Galuf has the Highest Stamina and lowest Agility out of all the characters, he will get an Agility boost which he needed and still make up for the Stamina which Thief lacks in. Remember your main priority here is to make Galuf obtain the Sprint Ability ASAP, Aside from that hes pretty much same as Bartz.

:X:X:X:X:X
Note;Strength/Agility/Stamina/Magic/Attack/Defense/Evasion/Magic Defense WILL NOT INCREASE WHEN YOU LEVEL UP
The only way you can increase your stats is by
  • Changing your jobs
  • Mastering your jobs
:X:X:X:X:X

With that out of the way

:awesome: I recommend making :awesome:

Bartz -> Monk (main melee damage output)
Lenna
-> White Mage (main healer)

Faris -> Black Mage
(main magic damage output)
Galuf -> Knight (main tank)

Why is Faris Black Mage and not Lenna Black Mage first? well you will have to alter them. By that i mean when you learn new ability !Black(1) change Faris to White also Faris is actually more suitable for Black Mage than Lenna why? Because Faris has more Agility, which means she gets to strike first. Whats the point of having healer have the first turn? to heal member that are already full health? I mean the only time you would want the healer to have the first turn is boss. That i mean to buff the party up with Protect.

Knight have the Cover ability, which in early game is really helpful.

Aim

Knight -> 2 Handed
2 Handed-> Mystic Knight // Magic Sword have bonus damage on certain monster which are weak towards some specific element, with 2 Handed you deal even more damage. :panic:
2 Handed -> Samurai // Katana are one of the most powerful weapons and having double damage of that is... :horsebeat:

Monk -> Barehanded
Barehanded -> Thief // power of Monk with the quickness of Thief. :ohshit:
Barehanded -> Chemist // Chemist can't equip decent items, so why don't you just use bare hand instead?
Barehanded -> Geomancer // same reason as Chemist.

Useful note:
  • Barehanded for class which can't equip good weapon e.g. dagger.
  • 2 Handed for high damage dealing weapon.
  • Duel-wield for items with special attribute, check Masamune's attribute.:awesome:
White Mage -> !White
!White -> Black Mage // my personal favorite reason behind, Black Mage has more MP than White Mage, which means you can spam more magic. :P
!White -> Time Mage // think of this as the buffer or enchanter class :awesome:

Black Mage -> !Black
!Black -> Blue Mage // can monster resist 5 all different elements? Wind, Thunder, Ice, Fire and Water. :shame:
!Black -> Summoner //
can monster resist 5 different elements? Earth, Thunder, Ice, Fire, Water? :shame:

As you can see the first classes alone is really worth the time, their ability will aid your new classes well. If you have a class that lacks in some field, give that class the Attribute which they lack in for e.g. if your Thief lacks in HP? give it Monk's Max Hit Point Up 30%
if your White Mage is lacking in damage give the attribute !Black from here onwards i think you can figure out how to build up your job. :P

:domo: Lowbie guide part 2 :domo:

There are times where we cannot defeat certain boss no matter how hard we try... What should we do? You can do the following

  • Train/Level up/Grind/Farm.
  • Change your Job to freelancer and have another go.
I am going to talk about the second bullet in this part.
job build ups had been discussed in part 1, now that we know what job and ability go well its time to know what job should be Mastered first,

Train which job first?

Ok first thing is first we start from the very beginning, The Wind crystal.

I am assuming you have the ability.
  • Sprint
  • Learning
What now? Well you can either go all physical or all magical or you can have a mixed party build.

I will discuss their pros and cons

All physical
Pros:
  • you don't have to use tent as much.
  • you last longer in battle.
  • you save money.
  • you deal high damage to most monsters.
Cons:
  • you are screwed if you have a monster that is strong against physical attacks.
  • you take very high damage when a monster cast magic on you.
  • you can take on some bosses.
All magical

pretty much the opposite of All physical.

Mixed

This is by far the best build that I would recommend. You can take down any horde of monster with this build.

suggested party build's

Physical damage dealer

Bartz, Galuf, Faris

Magical damage dealer

Faris, Lenna

Note: I wont say exactly what will happen, but here is just a brief info, Galuf will not stay with you the whole game, there will be new character which will replace him things to note is,
The new character is the exact opposite of Galuf, Galuf is known to be one of the best physical damage dealer, but the new character is actually more of Magic/Agility wise character that is why i suggested Faris as a physical damage dealer. Faris as physical damage dealer
  • She is fast
  • She is decent all round which means she can be decent at physical or magical
  • She is good for Thief/Ninja type class which includes weapon that takes in Agility as damage output formula.
Anyhow moving on, It doesn't really matter that much of which character gets to be the physical or magical damage dealer I will just make Bartz and Galuf the physical you can make Faris physical if you wish.

The Wind Crystal Jobs

Name Job Reason

Bartz -> Monk Bonus Strength when you Master this Job Master it ASAP
Galuf -> Monk
Bonus Strength when you Master this Job Master it ASAP
Lenna ->
Black Mage Bonus Magic when you master this Job Master it ASAP
Faris -> White Mage Bonus Magic when you master this Job Master it ASAP

also Monk have 30% HP and Black Mage have 30% MP bonus as their last ability.

next?

Bartz -> Thief Bonus Agility when you Master this Job Master it ASAP
Galuf -> Thief
Bonus Agility when you Master this Job Master it ASAP
Lenna ->
White Mage Bonus Magic when you master this Job Master it ASAP
Faris -> Black Mage Bonus Magic when you master this Job Master it ASAP

next?

well now when I say master it first I don't mean play them only! and don't play any other class. What I am saying is, you should master these ASAP if you can which also means you WILL need other ability from other jobs as well.

after you get out of wind shrine put

Bartz -> Monk
Galuf -> Monk

Lenna ->
Black Mage
Faris -> White Mage

or

Bartz -> Monk
Galuf -> Monk

Lenna ->
White Mage
Faris -> Black Mage

I recommend the first.

when you get to the Water Crystal there will be more new Jobs for you to play around with. They come with

Red Mage - Time Mage - Summoner - Berserker - Mystic Knight

By now Lenna and Faris should have !Black level 2 or !White level 2, if you don't have it, get it. Bartz and Galuf should have !Focus

The new party

Lenna/Faris can -> Time Mage till they get !Time level 2

Then

Lenna/Faris can -> Summoner !Summon level 2

Bartz/Galuf -> Monk all the way

Fire Crystal Jobs!

Beastmaster - Geomancer - Ninja

By now you should have Lenna/Faris
with !Time level 2 or !Summon level 2 and Bartz/Galuf with Barehanded.

The new party

Bartz/Galuf -> Beastmaster with Barehanded till they get !Control. It is needed for Blue Mage's Blue magic, some monster must be controlled to cast certain skills.

Lenna/Faris -> White/Black Mage till they get !White level 3 and !Black level 3

Lenna/Faris -> Blue Mage till they get !Blue
2 more shards

Archer - Bard

Lenna/Faris -> Should have Time/Summon/White/Black all Level 3
Bartz/Galuf -> Should have !Control

Now, make the party Master the jobs that gives them attribute.

for Bartz/Galuf Master these jobs first.

Monk-> Thief -> Archer -> Ninja -> Samurai -> Mystic Knight -> Dragoon -> Gladiator

for Lenna/Faris

Black -> White -> Summoner -> Time -> Blue -> Red -> Mime

more information to be added...

I got Necromancer thinking it would be awesome, but it isn't very good at all. I preferred the gladiator class.

Personally I think both Gladiator and Necromancer are both awesome :awesome:I don't however like the Oracle class much -__-, but I sort of agree with you, I prefer Gladiator more than Necromancer since I am an physical close range combat fan. :mark: I personally think that, the Mystic Knight class are one of the coolest class around, :busta:with their ability to enchant magic onto sword and strike enemy with the element that their weak against. One major benefit about that is, you only cast the enchant once, which saves you a lot of MP if you are going have a long battle :awesome:. The down side is, Mystic Knight themselves cannot remove their enchant if certain monster is strong against many elements also enchanting requires 1 turn -__-, which is a major disadvantage. Gladiator class is cool and all that but the !Finisher isn't too stable, you will know what I am talking about if you have used gladiator, but gladiator learns a couple of awesome ability around which are just pure splendid. The ability that they learn makes up for the unstableness of their !Finisher ability. :P
