Remember that Lord of Arcana trademark we dug up a year ago? This is what it’s for.

Famitsu revealed Lord of Arcana, a multiplayer action game for PSP. An info box says its slated for this year. That’s about it for now. Scans are surfacing, so we’ll update this with information as we get it.

Looks like Lord of Arcana is Square Enix’s take on Monster Hunter. Players create a slayer, a customizable warrior who sets out to fight beasts. He can get quests and drop off items at Kariyoport, which has hunting staples like a guild. Another scan shows the slayer battling monsters in a fire cave and desert. Lord of Arcana is scheduled to come out later this year.

I actually don't remember Lord of Arcana a year ago :mokken:

Monster Hunter is technically an RPG, so will this Lord of Arcana have similar elements as well, or is it just a straight up action game? :hmmm:

But yeah, Capcom's Monster Hunter is a resounding success. People say Namco-Bandai's "God Eater" is their version of Monster Hunter - figures S-E might wanna take a shot at it as well xD

I like the idea of being able to customize your own hero. From the looks of the scans, it seems like you can choose gender as well. Finally, I don't need to hear anymore bitching about the cliche bishie lead (nor will I need to bitch about the meathead lead :awesome: )

The only thing that makes me iffy is the emphasis on multiplayer - is the game gonna be shit if you play alone?

If SE release this anytime near the release date of the next portable Monster Hunter game, they are idiots. There are various good points about the existence of a Monster Hunter competition though. It may encourage future Monster Hunter games to improve more and more. And who knows, this young pretender could turn out to be a surprise hit, just like NieR.

Oh, and I've added the trailer to the first post.
