So you've fallen through time compression and you've reached the castle. Blast, none of your characters are even nearly ready to take on what's inside! You run through the doors back to Ragnarok or whatever, collect items to upgrade your weapons, level up your characters. So eventually you've got 6 level 100 characters, with lots of magic, all the GFs, the best weapons. Quistis is whooping ass with her limit breaks, Squall can massacre anything with Lionheart, Irvine is pumping guts with pulse and AP ammo.

Zell is... "fly swatting" with his semi-decent booya, Rinoa is (for some reason) giving Angelo treats for causing little to no damage to enemies with awesome attacks such as "Angelo Rush" and "Angelo Strike", and Selphie is causing double (yep, that's DOUBLE) damage on enemies with powerful magics such as blizzard, water and fire. Oo run while you still can.

Apologies for the long intro, I'll make my point now. Why are some of the most important limit breaks, (such as The End, Wishing Star and powerful duel techniques) limited to before the time compression? I've seen on so many Omega battle videos that Wishing Star has been used religiously, and now that I'm at the castle and don't have it, am I essentially being told "tough crap, you're too late daaaawl"?

I realise that with Lionheart, wishing star isn't essential, but its a bit rubbish that you cant backtrack and regain some of these things. Or am I missing something very large?

from what i recall, you can get the stuff needed for it, and train and upgrade your limit's but i'm not 100% sure, because i think it might depend on what you'd done leading up to the time compression, and including said event. But the possibilties as to why it didn't give you the amazing power, are endless... Hell, i know the feeling. my Ultimecia castle save has this:

Squall, Irvine, Rinoa level 100
Squall, Irvine, Zell ultimate weapons
half of Quistis' Blue Magic

with 100 potions, Hi-potions, phoenix downs, etc.

my Squall kicks serious arse dealing 5000 with hits that aren't even 'triggered' with 182 strength stat, Irvine deals average damage but still kicks arse in his own respect. Rinoa.... pathetic damage but Invincible Moon is more prominent, even with Aura.

and so on, and so forth. it just keeps on changing with them... so anyway, my point is, its just randomised... there's no surefire way to tell how they should be... hell! you might have seen video clips of characters with 255 for each stat!

I have a question. I know that when you first enter the castle alot of your abilities are taken away from you and you must defeat several of Ultimecia's ''minions'' in order to regain your abilities. But no matter how hard I tried, I never could find the last two monsters, so I always had to sacrifice something. Could someone point out to me where ALL the monstesr are??
:D

I'll tell you where they all are... but I might need time, and an idea as to which ones your looking for. I'll check the guide i've got this arvo (because, i haven't killed them again since 2001! :P) and it kinda stops (the guide, i've only got about half of the full guide. Lol) but it stops after Gargantua (or whatever the last Guardian Beast is)

Okay, thanks. I haven't played FF8 in a while, but as soon as I get my disks back from a friend, I'm going to replay. One to find out if the spider thing really works, and try to max my characters out, level them up and get full magick and everything else. But yeah, not unlocking all of my abilities in the castle was exceptionally agravating!

I just used Squall at Level 100 to defeat Ultimacia and the other boses that I fought at the game, the others were only doing their job as healers. I had "The Lion Heart" gunblade for Squall so the battle with Ultimacia was easy.

try to put him flaire and make bahamut with him to give him str+60%

so he will be godlike hehe

ultima is the strongest magic in the game in junctioning and you can put it too

you will say from where can i get too much ultima

after you come back from the moon in disc 3 go back to easter and search the city...there is a monster full of aura and gives you after death 2 energy cristals so you can put them into 6 ultima and then go to another screen and go back to find it again and fight it till you get all your 6 members 100 ultima each one

I loved lionheart and Invincible Moon, I liked Zell's limit and Irvione's was good when wasting precious pulse ammo
