Okay, so from reading this thread, several members here have brought up some rather interesting points.
So let's try and set these issues aside and get something started?
I think it would be great to get an RP started which incorporates ideas from everyone interested in taking part.
Myself, I am open for anything really. The aim in this RP I would like to get started is to keep things as open as possible for everyone involved. I don't know about everyone else, but I find the best way to get things started is to come up with a setting for the story. Start by thinking up all the geographical features, different regions, countries, whatever, and then working up to coming up with all the locations. Towns, cities, villages, ruins, temples, landmarks... Even if these don't get touched in the story, it's always good to have it all fleshed out. The places that remain untouched could always be re-used either in another story set in the same world, or ported over to something else entirely. Then, as all this develops, I start thinking along the lines of certain events that may occur in these places, and the sort of people who live there.
So rather than starting off with a pre-made world, let's all make one for ourselves.
Here is a sample map taken from RPG Maker VX Ace. I think this would make a good starting point. It's basic, and has no towns, cities or anything of the sort. Just various landmasses and a few geographical features. These can easilly be changed. We can re-arrange the layout of the land, remove or add landmasses, and then start developing civilisation.
What sort of setting would you guys prefer? Something typically medieval-ish/fantasy? Something more realistic, or more futuristic? Will there be magic? Science? Religion?
Everyone is welcome to throw their ideas this way, provided this still remains being an ORPG. I'm not interested in taking part of RP's based on video games, anime, cartoons or whatever. xD
