The director of The Last Remnant, Hiroshi Takai, has voiced his opinion at Tokyo Game Show 2008 on the game's engine, Unreal Engine 3. He said the team "didn't have any problems with it", and added that the team is now very used to work with it. In addition, Takai said the development team "has seen the next Unreal Engine, and [we] cannot wait to get our hands on it".
So after the praise the engine received from the game's director, will Square Enix create another worldwide project using the Unreal Engine 4? Perhaps next generation, as Epic, the company behind the engine, has said the new Unreal Engine will not be ready for this generation of consoles.
What about more The Last Remnant titles? Well, Nobuyuki Ueda told Kotaku the finalized game has just been submitted and that they "haven't even thought about the next one".
