His attacks are extremely predictable, and slow. He also gets destroyed easily when someone is very close to him. IMO he is a waste of space in the game. I don't see how anyone could possibly be good with him. If they were aiming for comic relief they kind of missed....

Kefka is not that horrible but I understand it is you're opinion. IMO he is a good character and a tricky one too. He has some powerful attacks at his disposal and he could kill easily. What do you not like about him? That he is slow and gets hit easily or do u not like his attacks. I could win easily with him if I am in ex mode. He is good but is slow.

Besides, I don't know if it's just me and maybe I just suck, but Kefka's Forsaken Null attack is annoying as hell. Pretty damn cheap. It's true that he has almost no close range attacks, but who needs them when you've got an attack like Forsaken Null?

Forsaken Null is tough, but certainly not impossible or anything. You can literally dash right through it and towards Kefka. Hit him while he gloats. You have to do it right as the balls are right in front of you, or the first is just past you. You'll get a feel for it, and from there, it's just timing. Nothing broken.
That's my personal strat anyway, but some have also said they counter it by retaliating with another long range weapon, or "circling around" (which never worked for me). Straight through is your best bet.
Kefka as a character is so/so. He's kind of one-dimensional, being so LR-heavy. If he had even just slight ability for close combat, you could probably work some nice combinations with him. Instead, it's more of just flurry.

For me, Kefka is one of the more annoying characters to beat imo, especially if he spams forsaken null or havoc wing. For a mage he's one of the more lethal ones, on par with others like Golbez and CoD in terms of difficult attacks.
Kefka definitely isn't the most annoying or difficult character to use, imo. I agree that he is so-so, and that just like any character he takes some time getting used to. I definitely don't think he's a waste of space- I actually find it a nice touch to have something new. Characters like Cecil and Firion have such predictable moves.
I think Kefka's attacks are based mostly on the fact to annoy you while you play. Think of FFVI. What did Kefka always do while you were in the desert with Sabin and Shadow? He annoyed you with pointlessness and was incredibly for a FF villain as well!

That guy screwed me over ONCE, and every time I face him now, I don't play around like I do for others. Usually, I'll run around and just harass with VERY punishable moves (don't worry, I always have my EX Gauge up xD) until I get bored, and just smack them with a few combos and destroy their being with a quickly executed HP, but with Kefka... LOL! When I face him, I try to end it as fast as I can. If you wait too long with that guy, and he builds up his EX Gauge, you're done for.
He's not a waste of space. He's a complicated fighter that would bend you over a table and destroy you from every side.
Obviously, if you're playing someone who tends to close in on their target and begin your combos, then Kefka will be nothing to you - we all agree that Kefka's melee ability is definitely on the low end - but if you're a ranged character, boy will you have a fight.
In conclusion, with Kefka, end it - and end if fast.
By the way, Havoc Wing is annoying xD I play Zidane as a main, and closing in on Kefka means I have to be prepared for a small range of attacks - HW being the main one as it's execution is low in frames.
Don't take him lightly :3

I can only judge from the demo, because my copy hasn't gotten here yet. (did anyone else order from Amazon? If so, how long did it take for it to arrive for you)
But, from the demo I would stir clear of his magicks, since they are extremely powerful.

By the way, as a note here: Kefka is pretty much Zidane's bitch. The "dash to him" method works better with none other than the Genome himself. As one of the fastest characters in the game, Zidane can move in on foes very effectively. That, coupled with his quick and assertive combinations, makes him a very tough character to fend off. This is especially for a Mage like Kefka, who really relies on the distance kept between he and the opponent. It's one of the worst match ups for Kefka, in my opinion.

I don't wana knock Kefka or anything, BUT when I did play as him (was gettin everyone to lv100) I was fighting lv105 maximum exdeath for max exp. I fought against other characters as well and whenever I used forsaken null, the enemy dodged every single explosion. Havoc wing was also easily dodged. To beat the lv100 exdeath i basically just spammed forsaken null for like 20 minutes until he finally slipped up and got hit XD
